It's a beautiful place. It's easy to forget that places like this still exist in smaller, older northeastern cities.
That’s why I love these east coast cities! The charm is undeniable ❤️
It’s so nice to see younger generations appreciating the beauty and character in old houses.
I’ve never seen a radiator that goes around a corner like that. How unique.
Gorgeous apartment! The ladder would hook on to the rail so you can access the upper shelves in your cupboard. :)
Fridge door can be changed to open the other way, which would be better. (Open from right to left …. Look at Hines on top)
Yes! I’m planning on changing the the way it hinges
Wow! Love the floors, the bay windows and the gold radiators! Really gorgeous with lots of possibilities! So much character 😊
I live in Maine. Definitely some really cool old-timey places around here
The algorithm brought me here. The apartment has beautiful features. The open area in the living room with the three shelves and textured wall could be used for storage. It doesn't seem deep enough to put a bar across it for coats (maybe it is, it's hard to tell in the video), but you could put hooks and use the floor for winter boots, maybe sporting equipment, etc. I would cover it with some type of curtain or even install doors, if you plan to be there for some time. You could also put folding chairs there, in case you want to host a dinner party and need more seating. Good luck, may you be happy in your new apt.
Thank you!! I love the idea of putting curtains in front of that spot
Used to live in the old port. Absolutely loved it
Holy cow! I moved from Chicago to Portland about 5 years ago. I was able get a couple of gorgeous period apartments in downtown Portland and I loved all the architectural features in them. Your apartment is gorgeous. The only sad thing in my opinion is that one of my favorite apartments still had a claw foot tub in the bathroom.
I’m not living in them anymore because the landlords raised the rent substantially and other circumstances in my life have changed.
I am now subscribed to you and can’t wait to see what you do with the place 😂❤👍
The floor is beautiful.
Great apartment Margaret cant wait to see what you do with it❤❤❤
lovely! I would not however put your TV above the fireplace, it just doesn't look good and it's too high for a TV-if you can find a lower stand or shelving unit that would be better I would put it to the right of the FP and your couch facing the FP and create a nice couch/chair table situation facing the FP-IMO-it's all beautiful though!!
yah..I HATE that TV/Fireplace scenario
How exciting !!! Absolutely gorgeous, Love old buildings those walls have stories !!! Faux fireplaces are amazing you can make them so cute with candles and seasonal decor. Floors are so beautiful. Fyi Home Depot sells a really cute white medicine cabinet that you mount on the wall My downstairs bath didn't have one and I really wanted one in that bath it's hard to find them!! Get some security on your door thats what I would tell my daughter!! good Luck 💃
It’s a beautiful place. I live in Brunswick now but my favorite apartment I’ve had was on Grant Street in Portland and it had so many beautiful features
Love it! I bought my 1860 Italianate/Victorian in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, when I was young like you. Still here 18 years later, and still love my beautiful place.
You can buy the backsplash tiles that are stick one and removable! This apartment is incredible! So happy for you!
Get a little artificial fireplace stove, and fit it into your fireplace opening
Looks better, safer than candles, and they have heaters. I did that with my 1898 apartment in Cincinnati.
Hi! Born and raised in Northern Maine. I currently live in Southern Maine. You will love it! The entire state is beautiful! Welcome!❤
I was born and raised here ❤️
Oh, okay. Lol I just subscribed and this was the first I watched. 😊
Love the place! I hope moving is going well! The stained glass is beautiful!
Beautiful apartment - I love all the original quirky features. The bedroom is awesome, love everything about that room.
Stunning apartment. Best wishes and have fun decorating.
I'd put a small cute table in front of the old doors to put stuff on when you walk in. A reading chair by the window. Also use that ladder as a blanket holder next to your bed. Desk in that green nook for your computer/laptop.
It's beautiful, I'm so jealous. Can't wait to see more!
What a gorgeous apartment! I love the decorative floor in your bedroom :-D
The algorithm brought me here to see this stunningly beautiful apartment. That bedroom is a DREAM. I can’t wait to see how you decorate ❤️
Congrats ❤ You'll have a blast! 🎉
This reminds me of my friends old apartment on Danforth st. A long time ago but very similar.
Tall ceilings!! Great place! Enjoy!
That bedroom is STUNNING, hope you enjoy your new home!
Thank you 😊
such a beautiful apartment! gotta love the North East homes. I'm from Connecticut and looking for homes to purchase ~ after living else where for the past few years, I'm so happy to be back in that New England charm and style. congrats on the new place and to your new adventures!
Such character. Very cool apartment.
Your new home has some amazing features! Lots of possibilities to decide on. Enjoy
Thank you! I can not wait to decorate
Beautiful place!
I would suggest having your TV on a media console, placed in the empty space in the center of the room, leaving a decent space for the hallway. This will create a sense of order by dividing the living space from the entrance. It also means your couch wont be blocking any heat (from radiator or fireplace) to travel throughout the room. The size of your fireplace mantle means that the tv would be very high on the wall if you mounted it which will create some difficulty when sitting down to watch. Putting your tv beside the fireplace creates two focuses of the room and doesn’t look as good.
The shelving space in the living room might have been a dining room dish display shelf when it was a single family. You could put your tv in that nook and put your couch or some chairs in the bay window area and then still enjoy the fireplace mirror decorative moment.
Congrats. Enjoy it is a great space!
What a beautiful apartment. I can’t wait to see it all decorated.
Thank you 🥰 I’m so excited to get started on decorating
Love this ❤ Congratulations
Very cute apartment! I am in So Maine as well.
Congrats!!
Very pretty apartment. You’re so lucky. Drinking game - “situation”.
Congratulations on your new place 🎉
Thank you ☺️
Very nice place! Best wishes!
I love the personality of the place. I do love a bit of stained glass
Absolutely love it
Lucky you found an apartment in Portland ❤ lovely bedroom floor. You know I feel my cousin lived there in 1980’s 😅
It’s so hard to find anything here! I got lucky
Wow - it has such character - this is my type of apartment - not dull and boring at all - it will be so fun to decorate! Huge living room! Wonder if that didn't used to be a Murphy Bed in the living room. Kinda looks like it.
I think it used to be a doorway that was filled in
Your place is gorgeous .. I hate these new 'luxury' apartments they are so dull. So lucky
The apartment seems very cozy and love how it has reenergized you.
Beautiful place
It's a beautiful place
Absoluty beautiful place.
Thank you ☺️
refrigerator doors should open from right to left since you have a counter top on the right.
Absolutely and they just didn’t change it when they installed the fridge. I’ll be changing it once I’m moved in
Just found your channel.Love your apt.
Thank you ❤️
You can buy electric fireplace inserts that look like real wood fires.
I’ll have to look into this!!! Thank you
Make sure you keep all your food in the pantry in sealed containers instead of boxes. You’re likely to see mice in the fall. That’s a mouse house for sure.
I am so jealous.
Dishwasher should be secured !!!
We live in a house that was built in 1925. It is unique and beautiful!
I would use the front room as a living room and the smaller one as the bedroom.
I thought about it but I didn’t want to always be walking through my bedroom especially since I like to host
It's a lovely place you have. Enjoy
Eine sehr schöne Wohnung 🎉
Thank you ❤️
girl that’s a pantry!!
What?
I'm curious how much the rent is, it's so beautiful!😊
I negotiated the rent down from $2200 a month to $2000. The rental market here in Maine is insane
@@margaretskiff wow that is insane! I love it!!
congrats on your new home/im new on your page/
Thank you 🥰 welcome
Beautiful apartment. But personally, absolute no to mounted Tv above the fireplace. It's the wrong height and looks cheugy imo.
There’s nowhere else in this room where the tv can be mounted for it to be lower. I can get a mount that moves so that the height issue can be solved for
What’s the rent? If you don’t mind sharing
The original price was $2200 and I negotiated it down to $2000
nice place!! $$$$...ugh..no tub :(
Ugh I know! A major bummer
This apartment reminds me of that movie Duplex 😂, but I love it, congratulations..
