    My mom and me have cross stitched for many years and had put floss on those little card board things....after a while got to be a pain....so my Mom came up with the idea of just putting into envelopes and writing the number on the front of envelope and storing in a big plastic container....maybe not as pretty as jars but you could buy colored envelopes...has worked great for us....not trying to step on anyone's toes just saying what worked for us....could give it a try...cheaper and floss stays organized and when we need a project, get colors and put in a container and your ready to go....

    I wind my floss onto plastic bobbins by brand and numbered. I put them numerically into divided floss storage containers. So simple to find out if I have the number I need in no time at all. For me, another plus is it takes little space.

    Can you do a video about couching? I recieved a Santa cross stitch and it said couching and I'm confused as i never heard of it before. Thank you for sharing! I love your organizing skills I truly needed that today. My projects started off small now they are getting huge. 12x16 is the biggest so far. May God bless you and your family! 🙏🏽❤

    I have rings with all my DMC floss in numerical order on floss bobs. When I need a floss I just go to my main ring which holds all the rings together. They hang in a closet in my sewing room. Very quick to put away and quite fast to find if I have a number or not. I used my Scan N Cut purchased poster board cut into sheets for my cutting mat ran them through and made my own thread bobs.
    Each ring has a series of numbers like all the 300’s are on a ring and so forth.

    Hi Kimberly, hope it’s okay to ask a silly question. I saw you twist Classic Colorworks floss and then tuck the end in the bottom hole of the floss card. As silly as it sounds I would love to know how you do that? I think it looks so cool! I never seem to twist it right. Thank-you so much for everything you do. I always look forward to new products and new videos.

    My method takes up space - and may not work for everyone - but it works for me. I bought many (this was years and years ago) of the cabinets that you can store nails and screws and so on in. They have long plastic drawers. They stack on top of each other. I put my floss in there - and have them numbered on the outside using labels. I've had to combine two colors in many of the drawers - but I just note which color is which on the label. It is a good length for the DMC.

    Thanks for sharing! I really wish there was at regular speed the hunting for a floss color in the jar…at least for one jar. For me, I’m pretty sure I would need to turn the jar upside down to find the color. I have spools of thread in a jar and the color I need is always at the bottom.

    So, Kimberly, do you put all your DMC flosses on either floss flowers or a bee keeper when you buy them? The biggest organization is putting everything into that DMC spreadsheet. Once you enter the data it make sense to check there when you have a new project. Once a quarter is a doable timing.

    Very Nice, but Instead of unraveling to combine why not put a twist tie through the hole in the top to secure the 2 together ? 😃

  • @cristaljohns1999

    This seems like a lot of time searching for flowers. Since you’re already “bobbinating”, doesn’t make sense to file them in a plastic floss caddy?

    • @FatQuarterShopFlossTube
      @FatQuarterShopFlossTube  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Cristal! Kimberly prefers to have her DMC in jars rather than a plastic caddy since she already uses a caddy for her fancy floss.

    On the DMC Floss that you put on the floss flowers, do you cut them into usable lengths first? Then wind them on the floss flower?

    I am new to this, can you tell me what you use Aurifil and NPI silk floss for? Thank you

    • @faydixon5955
      @faydixon5955 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aurifloss, not Aurifil which is their sewing thread, and NPI Silk Floss is used in cross stitch just like DMC, Classic Colorworks and other floss. With Aurifloss you use it as it comes off the spool. You don't split the threads.

    • @FatQuarterShopFlossTube
      @FatQuarterShopFlossTube  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello QuiltingbyRonna! Aurifloss is cotton and more economical. Silk (NPI) doesn't tangle as much, but has much more limited colors and is more expensive. Aurifloss has more floss per spool, and Kimberly likes how the NPI silk floss stitches smoothly.

      @@lizziedae91 yes they do, but Kimberly is very selective in her color choices... If you ever notice she uses just like stitching with the housewives they use the same color and the same tones for a lot of their pieces... I love Kimberly I think her videos are great but I just don’t like the waste and when I see something I don’t like I’m going to say it just like when I see stuff I love I also say it thank you for your input...
