The fact that you got that topwater bite on camera is incredible. Days like that are what we dream of. And the guy motoring through the trout is our alarm clock waking us back into reality.
Stayed in the pocket like drew brees with the storm clouds. I can only do that when I’m fishing alone. People get VERY scared. Well done - plus the joy of top water is like nothing else. To me, this was a special time fishing.
Great video. Fish always feed crazy when a storm is coming through because of the drop in the barometric pressure. I love fishing just at the start of the rain.
This video encouraged me to go out and try top water myself and I have to say I completely understand now when you said you would rather catch 5 on top water over 25 under a popping cork. Also I just signed up for LAFB elite and definitely do not regret it. Tons of great info.
Uh oh, sounds like someone is sour. Look buddy, that spot (and pretty much all the "known" spots out there) are no secret. They've been written about, talked about, filmed since before you could hold a rod. I guarantee it. At the end of the day if you're good at fishing you won't give a rusty duck fart about who films at what spot or whatever because you'll be able to find and catch fish on your own anyway. I know I do, so why can't you?
@@LAFishBlog If you only knew buddy. You’re a laughing stock to the real ones, trust me. Maybe not to your chivo Devin’s Disciples. Go net 16” trout 😂.
looks like you were on the mississippi side. I was on a topwater bite like that 4 years ago in leeville for a month straight. Most were 18-21" and best was 23" and 4 lbs
Awesome trout fishing they were so beautiful and I just loved the scenery I recently did a trout fishing video it is so peaceful especially since I have been distracted with school love that bait that you use I have the exact same one my favourite is the lucky strike spinners thought anyway have a happy Halloween!!
As a southern Louisiana resident I enjoy your videos but would like it if you would list the lures, rods and reels used in your video. Thanks and tight lines. 🐠🐟
I appreciate the kind words! Unfortunately I do not charter, I don't take people fishing with me. However, I do have a couple great recommendations that anyone can book here:www.lafishblog.com/book/ Thanks for watching!
@@LAFishBlog I actually prefer fishing alone myself. I dont mind being out there for 8 hours grinding for each fish but every time I bring someone they want to leave if we dont smash them within the first 2-3 hours.
I don't think that many anglers police themselves, meaning I don't think that many anglers here in south Louisiana are putting speckled trout back in the water. I pretty much never see it happen. On that day other boats did occasionally catch speckled trout and, when they did, they went straight into the cooler. The speckled trout fishing as a whole is a shadow of what it was ten years ago. Not even close. I'm not here to point fingers or blame anybody, I'm just answering your question. I do believe that conservation begins in the hearts and minds of inshore anglers and I have been saying this for years. In fact, I wrote this blog post in 2016 saying exactly that: www.lafishblog.com/conservation-begins-in-the-hearts-of-inshore-anglers/
@@LAFishBlog I hear that. I’ve noticed a handful in my small circle that have begun to police themselves, but that definitely is not representative of the whole community. It’s awesome to see that there are trout over 18 inches though! Great video man. I hope I can break 18” this year.
That's a great question. It's the same rod I throw Corkies with and you'll find details about it in this video: th-cam.com/video/2Nz3lA9LCwQ/w-d-xo.html
No, I don't. I get this question a lot and I am telling you braided line has it's place, but it isn't suitable for everything. Inshore anglers are stuck on it and they'd catch a lot more fish if they'd learn to use FC and mono.
Any info on where to get quality trailer parts on N Shore area. Business location is not really an issue, just looking for a company to stand behind their products! Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance for ANY heads up!

Captain Devin I subscribed to your channel and have to say you have a very awesome channel and I have to agree with you about boat running over where fish were at you wasn't to hard on him. Lol I have a question for you . I am a marine corps veteran, and I wanted to know if you are to ? I ask because I seen one of your blogs and I haven't found it again to check I had to leave out so couldn't go back and check.

Has to be really hard to find 20+ inch trout when the minimum keeper size is only 12 inches. I know Louisiana is blessed with a great estuary but increasing the minimum size to 15 would not harm the system.

First class top water action and commentary! Love relating the "fish or flee the storm" question everyone's been up against.
Thanks for watching, James!

Belittling the guy driving over the fish and firing up the big motor was awesome. Jealous of that trip! Good work
I was upset but i’m over it. I’m sure he’s a great dude and I hope he had a good day fishing.

@Micah Lambert right? I live in new orleans. I would much rather be out there not catching a thing than be back in that awful city lol
Awesome..
Thank you! Cheers!
Do you ever use weedless jerk shads in that shallow water?
Yes.
Hey Devin, how about a show weighing a limit? Just to see how many pounds per a average limit, 15 vs. 25 limit
Cool suggestion, Joe. But I think catching them on topwater and getting these great shots is probably enough for now. lol
Do you find that as anglers are self- imposing a smaller creel limit the trout are getting bigger around here?

What rod and reel combo is that?
That's a great question. It's the same rod I throw Corkies with and you'll find details about it in this video:
th-cam.com/video/2Nz3lA9LCwQ/w-d-xo.html
Is that the 125 or 150 Evergreen SB? Awesome top water trip indeed D

What rod and reel combo are you using
Hey Karl, great question.
This video goes into detail to answer it: th-cam.com/video/2Nz3lA9LCwQ/w-d-xo.html
Hey Devin, do you generally have braided line with a different type leader?
No, I don't.
I get this question a lot and I am telling you braided line has it's place, but it isn't suitable for everything.

I noticed you use a Hummingbird unit. Any advice on map card for LA marsh? It seems the popular LA -1 card doesn’t work with Hummingbird.
You have to get the la delta card

Texas keepers
I always get that sideways "we catch bigger fish in Texas" attitude. What's up with that? It's not like you personally managed the fishery there.
And I’m happy for Texas. I think Texas has done a great job managing incredible bass fisheries and are doing the same with speckled trout. But I do get the “well, we catch bigger ones over here” attitude. Am I incorrect in my assessment?
