What an extraordinary talent was BH.....I haven't heard this simple little masterpiece for well over 40 years, but upon JUST playing this YT I was SO freshly 'moved'; it's ALMOST like hearing High Church music.....Ave Maria or a Bach cantata, and the blessed lad was ONLY 22yrs. & 149 days when he was stolen from us. Oh for 'pop' to have anything of this standard these days, but BH's era of romantic sincerity is a thing of the past, and humanity's GREAT Loss. RIP Charles Hardin Holley. Amen.
They have tried because his voice seems easy to do. But his style of going from high to low throws his impersonater off. Tommy Roe, Bobby Vee and Robin Luke came close. Tommy's Sheila and Robin Luke's Susie Darlin are two examples. Bobby Fuller also came close. But no one in the 70s , 80s or onwards even tried.
Buddy Holly continues to entertain and bring enjoyment to music fans as much now as when he lived. I believe his songs will be played and loved by persons for decades in the future and that he will influence many more generations. What greater testimony can there be to his talent?
thats good to hear robert .I was not born till 1970 though .I met the crickets twice in the 90s they were great .hope you carry on playing buddy 4 many years to come
yeah im a 90's kid and i think this is a great time to live, i mean i dont have to wait like 60 years for all this great music to be created and released, i have it all at my fingertips and im able to discover so much more music then anyone back in the 60's could have and its all thanks to the internet and youtube.
Absolutely beautiful. An overdubbed early Nashville session. He was underated with his early un-commercial material, which was amongst the best around at the time.
Those first part of the lyrics:so beautiful!!!!: They say what you dont know..wont hurt you.. and I believe that!s so- so dont tell me that you ve found someone new .... to go through live with you. Thank you Buddy for this great moral support!
Sad news for all Buddy Holly fans: The dean of our fraternity, Bill Griggs of Lubbock Texas, THE Buddy Holly expert and true rock and roll fan and researcher extraordinaire, has passed away. We will miss his friendship and dedication to great music. Rock On Bill!

Considering that Buddy Holly was only 22 when he died & made almost 80 recordings, mostly songs that he wrote himself, it makes you wonder what he might have achieved, had he lived
I am glad that you appreciate this song and that it brings fond memories of you father, but I think it's Buddy that needs thanking for recording such a wonderful song.
LEGEND....WITHOUT THE GENIUS OF BUDDY HOLLY...There would have been no Beatles, at least not in the form that we know them as. His spirit...the soul of rock n' roll in his music.... still lives His carnal presence may have faded on that fatal day the music died... but I believe that he is now singing with the angels up on high until the Lord returns with His chosen ones someday. He is no longer physically present but we can still feel his whole being echo through the music.
Nearly sixty years later his songs are still good to hear. A very talented Singer who sang with feeling and depth. Too bad he was lost on that airplane accident in February 1959. Worse still both the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens died that day on the same accident.
I am also, to the best of my knowledge I have all his recorded works, and any that he has any involvement with. However I am always looking for others that have slipped past me.
But aren't you lucky to have them on tape that will never get old. You have to remember that life was not all music back then. We paid our dues and never regretted any of it. we just wish we could take the music with us when we go.
Zoveel geweldige songs in zo`n korte tijd, wat zou er nog allemaal gekomen zijn als............... maar ja, het is nog steeds genieten van al zijn TOPPERS!
there we go yet another great buddy track, omg this song is something else what a talent this great man had .buddy holly I will never stop playing your music you had talent to no end ]
This is a great vocal. Great guitar playing too. Never gets boring. This is a reminder that there was a lot more to Buddy Holly than Peggy Sue. Notice there's no musical bridge in this song, a rarity in the Rock and Roll era of the last half of the 20th century.
@punkrockNbuddyholly Amen........what a truly wonderful little comment. Buddy's beautiful voice & sensitivity could bring a tear to a glass eye, and this exquisite gem makes me oh-so 'misty' that it actually kinda HURTS, even after ALL these years. The young man was a TRUE GENIUS.........Bless his revered memory & Thank GOD for his time with us......theTRUE MESSIAH of popular music xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Buddy was on the cusp of being what he wanted to be, such a shame that he never got to be it. I really believe the whole British Invasion would never have been had he lived.
Glenn Johnson Love this guy and the music he left us.Will last forever in the halls of music.Thank you for uploading this song, particularly the original undubbed version!
this is such a great song. buddy holly was fantastic and ahead of his time. in such a short space of time, he recorded some of the greatest songs ive ever heard.
They say what you don't know - won't hurt you And I believe that's so - so don't tell me That you've found someone new To go through life with you Because I love you - my darling My dearest - I love you You're the one I want nearest me I love you - and I hope that you love me too I'd rather die thinking you love me Than to go on through life without you And you with someone new To go through life with you Because I love you - my darling My dearest - I love you - I love you You're the one I want nearest me I love you - I love you - and I hope that you love me too

Buddy’s voice sounds powerful when it breaks at 0:31. Listen to the whole verse.. “So don’t tell me, that you’ve found.. someone new, to go through life with you”. You can feel the emotions coming through the song
This song is great and a great ballad. This song was probably overdubbed by the Fireballs after Buddy’s death ☠️ at Norman Petty’s studio. The Fireballs were able to bring some of Buddy’s songs to life other songs brought them to their knees. Buddy Holly always wrote and recorded great songs.😊
One of the greatest rock and roll ballads ever! A rare and shimmering gem from the Great One!!. . .thank you Buddy

One of the best songs to play while on a road trip. Just looking out the window and just playing this in the car. It's so epic! R.I.P. Buddy!
De muziek werd gespeeld op de crematie van mijn lieve echtgenoot .Onvergetelijk ❤🇳🇱 ( RIP JAAR 2016 🙏MAART 2O22) )

You're the one I want nearest me
