Alvin Robertson, Sidney Moncrief, Dennis Johnson, Byron Scott, Mitch Richmond, Joe Dumars, Chris Mullin, Reggie Miller, line em up. Drex kicked their ass. The fact that Jordan was better doesn’t take away from the fact that Drex was awesome.

      @benyah3390 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      All that is true, and to be honest; Jordan didn't wreck Drex, nor 'Nique. People always bring up the Finals, but can Drex catch a break? He's outmanned dealing with Jordan(defense) and Pippen(offense), then add Horace; that's pretty stiff. I wouldn't put Drex ahead of Jordan, but it's not as far apart as people are made to believe by the media. Drexler basically had to be the Jordan and Pippen for his team. We see what happened when He got with Olajuwon.

    10:32, what an insane rebound by Pippen. He was super athletic up until 1997.
    Drexler was also crazy athletic as well. His major weakness was his lacking in footwork. You see Jordan can go anywhere, driving around traffic with his left and right. Drexler on the other hand was very primitive and predictable by comparison. He was arguably a tiny bit stronger than Jordan but finesse-wise he just wasn't on par.

    What a great level of competition in the 90s it was. Look at how packed the paint was. Driving was not wide open like it is today. The crowd was intense and into the game with their huge reactions to makes and misses. When we think shooting guards in the 90s, Jordan is #1 but there are guys who are hall of famers and all stars who are sometimes overlooked: Drexler, Reggie Miller, Mitch Richmond, Alan Houston, Dan Majerle, Joe Dumars, Steve Smith (or was he more of a SF?) It was a wonderful time to be a basketball fan.

    • @blipblip

      Not just that. Almost all the shots are heavily challenged in this game. You can feel the defensive resistance by just watching Jordan backing up onto the defense in the post. Today you have a bunch of guys in the paint back paddling or standing still when a perimeter player is driving into the lane. Every stats in today's game, from assist to point per game, are inflated because of the lack of physicality.

    Back then, each franchise had its franchise star(s) who was/were the driving force behind the team, who carried it in good times and bad times. The stars were loyal to their teams and fan base. Jordan and Pippen stayed loyal to the Bulls, Ewing and Starks to the Knicks, Drexler to the Blazers, David Robinson (and Duncan) to the Spurs. The talent was more evenly distributed, making the matches more interesting. Now, when you put together 3-4 mercenary stars in the same team you blow up competition. Winning by a 30+ points margin has become the norm. This NBA era sucks.

      The 1988-1993 featured zero dominant bug men (Kareem was a shell of himself both years) so I don't see what's so unique about Clyde's accomplishment. Kobe and Wade very clearly surpassed him. .

      Not really, as Clyde beats The Admiral and balanced Suns with Tom Chambers in 1990, Malone in 1991 and 1992. And Suns again in 1992. Clyde did it as the best defender in his team too, which Kobe never really achieved with Horry in his first 3, Ariza and Artest in his 4th and 5th. Clyde paired with The Dream in 1995 to get the most hardcore championship from number 6th seeds.@@spitshinetommy3721

    Because Clyde's prime was during Jordan's prime, and what happened in the 92 finals game 1 which is cemented among greatest NBA moments ever until the end of time, Clyde actually became possibly underrated historically as a consequence. He was by pretty much all intents and purposes the 2nd best 2-guard of the 90's. He was a better overall player than Reggie Miller, he just didn't have the memorable playoff moments Miller had, even though he was the best player on 2 Portland teams that got to the finals. In fact, one could make the case (not saying for sure he is) that Clyde was the 5th greatest 2-guard of all-time behind MJ, Kobe, Wade, and West and ahead of guys like Miller, Ray Allen, Klay Thompson etc. And the irony is that he actually won an NBA title in what probably had always been his ideal role, as a #2 co-star to Hakeem Olajuwan on that 95 Rockets team.

      @Riles3152 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daviddufresne343 10X all-stars are not just "very good". He absolutely is a top 50 all-time player. Your basically making my point. If Jordan was never in the picture, he would have most likely been at least a 2X NBA champion and the best 2-guard of the 90's. Dude was GREAT. Not just very good. He just wasn't on MJ's level of greatness.

    Clyde had it all when it came to skill, speed and strength. Mike was willing to get a bit more nasty in order to beat clyde. If jordan ever said beating clyde was easy, he’d be straight up lying. But we do know mikes ego doesn’t allow him to rank anyone else above himself. Not even larry legend. He simply is unable to admit such things. But he was a hell of a player. But if all a scout seen was this video to make up his mind on who to sign a contract. It’s really hard to say one is better than the other. They are very similar in so many ways. But again as many times before. I say mike values personal stats over the entire team’s abilities. You can tell clyde is very unselfish, and plays alongside his teammates. Which is always a better choice in team sports. Clyde played for portland. The bull played to help mike score more. It was obvious to anyone paying close attention.

    This is exactly why MJ was the greatest of all time. Listen, i despised him, I'm a die-hard Blazers fan - with the Pistons and Suns being far and away my next two favorite teams. So any way you slice it, I was rooting against the Bulls on a regular basis. So this isn't coming from some MJ fanboy or some shit, the fact that the Bulls one multiple tittles, let alone 2 different three-peats, (with the first being the most impressive), is effin mind-blowing. People nowadays don't realize just how stacked teams like the Blazers were due to aside for Clyde - the rest of his teammates in those late 80's to early 90's Blazers teams aren't really household names, but from 1990 to 1992, those teams were considered at the time - and still should be considered, some of if not the best team to not win a championship. They had Clyde, Porter, Kersey, Buck, Duckworth, Cliff, Ainge, Drazen, Bryant, and (in 91), they had an old but still solid Walter Davis. Duck, Porter, and Kersey, would have averaged well over 20 a game if they had been on any other team in the league, with Cliff and Ainge at the time were two of the best bench players in he league. And the major reason Drexler's numbers were quite as impressive to MJ's was largely due directly to that very fact, that just had so many guys deserving touches.
    Portland wasn't the only team the Bulls had to worry bout back then either, there were tons of good, or even great, teams throughout the league that had legit shots at winning a championship. Teams like the Bucks had guys like Ricky Pierce, Pressey, Sickma, and Moncrief, the Jazz (in early 90's), had both Karl and Jeff Malone, plus Stockton, then the Rockets had Hakeem, Thorpe, Kenny Smith, and Horrey. The Spurs had Robinson, Willie Anders, Cummings, and Dale Ellis. The Knicks had Ewing, Mason, Xavier McDaniel, Oakley, Starks, Doc Rivers, and Charles Smith. The Cavs had Price, Dougerty, Hot-Rod, Larry Nance, and either Harper in the late 80's - or Gerald Wilkens in the early 90's. Suns had Barkley, Cedric Cebalos, Dumas, Majerle, Kevin Johnson, and Tommy Chambers. The Sonics had Kemp, Payton, Schrempf, Hersey Hawkins, Eddie Johnson, and Derrick McKey. The Hawks had Wilkens, Kevin Willis, Doc Rivers (until he went to the Knicks in early 90's), Spud Webb, John Battle, an old Moses Malone, and then Stacy Augmon in the early 90's. And then of course the waning, yet still elite 80's teams - the Pistons, Celts, and Lakers. Those are just some of the sort of teams in the late 80's through to mid 90's that Jordan's Bulls had to compete against. Even lesser teams like the Nugg's of the late 80's had Alex English, Fatt Lever, Reggie Williams, and Michael Adams that you had to deal with. The depth of the league as a whole back then absolutely blows the current NBA depth outa the water. Thanks for the upload, great game!
