@@alfaromeonoproblem my bad, that's what I meant, hoses due to oil leaks and thermostat due to temperature issues. Thanks to your video everything went well. A part from the fact that the new thermostat seems to behave exactly like the old one: temperature goes down to 55 indicated (should be 60-65 from multiecuscan) after turning on the heating. Ps. As soon as I turned on the engine I saw water coming out from the thermostat-radiator hose clamp. Forgot to tighten it, but how come water was there with cold engine?
A few years ago now but my vacuum pump was leaking oil from the large O-ring seal around the weak tin-can body. I found the lid had distorted slightly, I think because someone had at some time tried to replace the pump without the cam aligned with the slot. After trying and failing to seal the lid, I gave up an bought a new pump. Not too bad: £145. This made an instant big improvement to the brakes and also turbo actuation became more linear. It had clearly been producing less vacuum than it should. Thank you for not calling the shut-off valve a throttle body :) It really isn't. It's there to cut off the air when you turn off ignition, and also to stop diesel runaway from combustion of engine oil via damaged turbo seals. The butterfly mechanism does need to be kept clean of oil and soot. If it sticks closed the engine cannot start. I've met and fixed that problem on VAG diesels: the clue is that the engine cranks fast because there is no compression because no air is entering the engine. These are great videos for DIY mechanics. Thank you.
Men, you just made my day! Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience. I agree with you with everything. And yes, I did encounter some diesel vag with that valve stuck closed and open too. See you tomorrow
2.4 JTDM: there was a technical bulliten saying you can use 5W30 syntium 5000 instead of 5W40. You can't, it causes or exacerbates leaks. You want Fuchs Titan 5W40 (it's also C3 rated which is suitable for DPF, original spec wasn't). For oil or coolant finding it's way into bolt holes, I use loctite 510 when I find that. Oil cooler pipe rubs on front driver side radiator bracket if the big rubber bush is not positioned correctly and will leak if left like that. Also check out laser tools 8770 Low Profile Ratchet & Bit Set, it comes in very handy (I recently bought the set).
Hi, I have one from 2007, 2.4L JDTM. My dashbord is like a christmass tree and I can't use the reader because the connector is a rectangular one while the reader that I have is a trapezoidal shape. What diagnostoc tool you use?
I had strange issues on my alfa spider 2.4 when i touch the fusebox by hand for any reason. Some strange errors appears on the dash. I teared down the entire fusebox and its backplate, cleaned and checked every fuse. They were all good but there was oxidation on the legs so i cleaned them with sandpaper and wd40 one by one. Zero problems after that
Hello bruno, tks for your videos, they are awesome! I have the same leaking problem on my 1.6 multijet, i wonder if there is something causing any ovepressure inside the engine forcing the old gaskets to leak. In your opinion can any clogged part cause overpressure in the engine? I heard about possible clogged PCV valve but I am not sure. Tks a lot for support!!
Hello. I have no record of an issue with that. The oil catch can on these sometimes leaks but I don't believe it is clogged. Normally the diesel version do not have a membrane inside of the oil catch can like the gasoline versions do
Hello. They will vary depending on the engine and year. Check them out on eper.fiatforum.com with the vin of your car, in that way it's really certain that you will get the correct ones.
Hey bruno thank you very much for the video it helped a lot I just have one question when I took off my vaacum pump I saw oil on the two down bolt Do I need to change the seal inside the pump too or you think is enough to change the seal outside the vaccum pump?
Boa Tarde. Estou à procura desses 3 vedantes. Já fui ao site que indicou aqui nalguns comentários mas não existe nada. Casa de peças também não e alfa romeo não diz. Consegue me dizer onde mandou vir ou as referências? Obrigada. (1.6 JTDM)
I have an oil leak near the V-belt, which is also slightly full of oil. The air conditioning compressor is also full of oil. I can only imagine the valve cover gasket as the cause, but I don't see the origin. Do you have any ideas?
My water hose litterally broke yesterday due to a oil leak😅
Good job man
Poor guy 😂
I'm sorry to hear that.. hope everything is ok now
Mine as well, I'm gonna replace them today. Hoses from the thermostat and the thermostat itself due to temperature issues.
@marvinv6760 more like oil leaks on them, then they fail.

Can you sand some link to buy original gaskets.?
I just my local dealership. And I use eper.fiatforum.com to find part numbers
Thanks again 👍

Is this the same procedure for alfa 159 2.4 jtdm? Thanks!
Hello. Yes, it is exactly the same procedure and parts too.
@@alfaromeonoproblem thank you wery much.
Do You have the part numbers for the gaskets, please?
Hello. Check on eper.fiatforum.com
Hi, congratulations for the channel, may I ask you if this process is the same for the the 2.4 JTD 10V?
Hello. Thanks for watching. No, it's a bit different. There is no fill up neck, the vacuum pump is different.
Only the intake valve is similar
Thank you for your answer, maybe one day you could list similar issue for the JTD 'unijet' engines. :D
@JoeDaeHimself just the valve cover gasket.. not much else
@@alfaromeonoproblem well that one I have for sure to change it...just the time to find some RIBE sockets.
@JoeDaeHimself 5mm hex will do just fine. But if you need the ribe is the number 7.

Is not about reading the codes is about being able to connect to the port. On the car is a rectangular one while my reader is a different shape!
@dumitruvalentincrihan2527 I did understand. There is only one port, if yours doesn't fit, send it back.

@william_mazza hello. Yes, that usually happens on the cabin fuse box. I have a video with a Punto 176 with a crank no start because of that
