Such a pure song. It’s refreshing to see someone expressing care and affection in such a genuine way. This common decency and simplicity expressed though John’s music just seems tragically rare in these days of offence and division.

Your correct, and the r reason why, is because God is getting ready to destroy the Earth, he's brought division, and suffering to the world as he said he would do. Do. It's very sad to see so many suffering so much. But it's no more than they deserve I guess😢

I was working as a Playboy Bunny in NY the year that John Denver had a concert at Madison Square Garden. He had a public personna of being kind of a square. Part of our job was to go to certain rock concerts and sit in the front row in our "civvies", which were white skirts, and black Playboy turtlenecks (best way to describe them) No ears or tails on that occasion, thankfully. We were there partially to dispel his "square" reputation. . After the concert, John had rented out an entire restaurant, called Puglia in Little Italy. He bought us all dinner and we partied with him. He was a gentleman to the core; friendly but not intrusive, a lot of fun to talk to, just generally a really nice guy. A very fond memory.

I remember being in grade school and listening to John Denver, and here I am at 56 still listening. I'm a total '80's GenXer, rocket baby, butt rocker (and yes, had some serious hair!) and listen to rock and metal, but John's voice is so crystal clear, which is so rare. Not only was he a prolific writer, he took on the PMRC in the '80's (Tipper Gore and friends wanted to start banning music/artist, which they found "offensive") along with Frank Zappa and Dee Snider. John's speech was brilliant, defending our 1st amendment and the black and white PARENTAL ADVISORY sticker was born. Ironically the first band to have it on their CD wasn't a "hard rock metal band" it was rappers 2 LiveCrew! The '80's was the best time ever to be young-good times!

I never tire of listening to this song and, frankly, just about any other song he wrote and performed. It's just sad that the current state of terrestrial radio has plenty of room for stations playing the same 20 songs over, is saturated with country (some of which I like) hip hop (which I don't care for), classic rock, active rock etc. And yet, there just isn't room for the singers, the song writers and the vocalists who actually can carry a tune or play and instrument. Even to this day, John, Neil Diamond, Celine Deion, Barry Manilow just don't get the air play and respect they deserve. And that's just to name a few. Thank God for TH-cam, the very, very few stations that play such artists, if you can find them and receive them.

very well put and you are 100% right on everything you said, the singers of to day just can,t hold a candle to the singers of the past OH hell they don,t even have to go to the recording studios all they have to do is pick up the phone ENJOY

It is amazing how a walk in the forest can make you realize what is important in life and the simplicity of what is important in life but humans make this concept so difficult..like so many things in life less is truly more...just the wonder of a springtime rain shower and your reaction to it is truly good medicine!
