I'm an old guy so I've loved this song for a long time. I heard it as a man's song because John Denver, Katie changed my mind. It's on my list of favorites now. Please never quit, we need all the beautiful music you kids care to make.

This was sung at my wedding 47 years ago by a good friend. My husband passed away 6 years ago--I miss him so much!!!

I learned Annie’s song when I was 17, at the senior year of the prestigious Nunziatella Military School in Naples, Italy. I loved it so much, that I sang it on stage during Christmas Show that traditionally is held for families. I should have known: Anna (the Italian version of Ann) was the name of my grand-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother…Guess what? My wife’s name - I met her fifteen years after that Show - is Anna. So the name and the song are really near to my heart. Having you guys and ladies executing it in such an heartfelt way is a blessing. I really love you all, thank you for all the wonderful music.

Hi you have a new subscriber and I'm from Germany. This song always reminds me at my grand aunt Annie who lived, until she passed, early 1990's, in Rochester/Minnesota. This is the best version I‘ve ever heard since John Denver played and recorded it at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles in 1974. He is one of my favorite musicians and songwriters.

Growing up I was never really around any bluegrass or country music. So I'm kind of embarrassed to say that this is my first exposure to 'Annie's Song.' The lyrics are beautiful; the performance is superb; the heart and soul of the song is really brought out in everything. The best thing TH-cam ever did was to let me find the Petersens. You guys have opened up a whole new world of music to me.
I feel the same way about them! And don't be embarrassed! I was pretty much the same way before I found their music. My dad has always listened to old country and other genres, but they really helped me appreciate the music he listens too. Now I won't trade it for anything! Heck, I actually have a banjo and am trying to learn it! The Petersens have made me realize what true music feels like! They are awesome, aren't they? God bless! 😁

I saw The Petersens play this live tonight! I feel incredibly blessed to be able to have seen their performance and to briefly meet them after the show. They are all very warm and friendly people. I think the reason I love their music so much is that they pour so much love into it.

I had the privilege to see John Denver once in concert back in the 1980s and I will alway remember where I was the moment I learned about his death. This song is my favorite of his work. Lovely done.

Absolutely love this song and this performance. John Denver wrote this song for his wife Annie Martell after they had a major fight and brief separation. Apparently, Denver wrote the song in 10 minutes while he was riding a ski lift up an Aspen mountain in Colorado, reflecting on how thankful he was they didn't break up. Sadly they went to have a messy divorce in 1982, but thankfully we have this beautiful song to remember the love the iconic songwriter and his wife once had.....
Listening to this wonderful song I just remember that in a few weeks it will be 25 years !!! since John Denver left us. I will always remember where I was when the message of his death was announced.

In 1976 I received the LP "John Denver - Live In London" (at the Palladium) with this song on it,
which my musically very gifted Welsh cousin had brought me, who also used songs like this to teach me
my first steps on the guitar at the time.

I'm glad you gave that survey! My Mom named me after John Denver; for reference, he hosted the Grammy's in 79, and I was born in 82. I wish I could watch these videos with her. She had great taste in music and would have loved the Petersens. Wish John was still with us, too.

@@Liz.Newton I liked that one because it just seemed so spontaneous, especially with the backdrop of the mountains, and the breeze blowing through Katie's hair, but I have to say Katie and the rest of the Petersens, Emmett included, took the orchestration up to a whole new level with this one! More than the physical notes, it is the passion and love people play with that makes them great musicians. The Petersens possess an abundance of those things!
