You live in a winter wonderland. Great shelter and a zen moment to boot. Loved it when your dog made it's mark. I agree, we are no longer connected to nature. Not many are going to make it when things turn bad. Less is better. Thanks BJ. Stevo
Good message, BJ. Totally with you on the destructive effects of technology, mostly to our social fabric and sense of community. It's almost like, after the industrial revolution, there has been a very steady decay in our connection with nature, our ability to self-sustain, and our connection to others. And with these younger generations it's overwhelmingly evident that technology is interwoven so deeply into their lives that it's nearly inextricable. I've done a good bit of traveling and I can confidently state that the cultures I visited that utilized least amount of technology were the happiest, the most content. I do think there can be a healthy balance though, a safe relationship with technology so as not to rely too heavily upon it. Btw, great winter shelter. Doesn't get much more simple than that. A single strong support beam and then build the canopy. Nicely done. Also, is that a Silky saw you're using? I have a couple silkys and they are the absolute best saws I've ever used.
What is time? What does it look like wasted? Does pride in one's work not have value? What of the time you wasted on a negative comment? It is easy to find fault. Try harder, be better. You know, that kind of thing.
@@uglyapple It's called realism. Even if it's not cold, I break down branches quick with my boots. Not meant to be a criticism, as you're not the only one doing it.
Apologies if I misinterpreted. If you are referring to the branches I used to cover the shelter, the boughs, I cut them off as it does less damage to the tree. Breaking them off adversely affects the trees healing ability. I could go on. If it is the smaller branches used for ground insulation, those I both cut and strip off of lager branches, but at this point I am in no hurry and don't like pointy ends to lay or sit on. If, instead, you are talking about branches I use for fire wood, I cut some and break some. Mostly it will be about expending less energy as well as body temperature control. Not to worry I have n fear of criticism even welcome it so long as it is constructive. I appreciate you making the effort to clarify. Thanks for commenting.

I guess he thinks it's his as much as mine and wants everyone and everything to know it.
Thanks Steve

Very well said, a lot to unpack. Thank you and yes a Silky, a great saw.
Waste of time sawing dead branches off a tree when quicker just to break them off with your hands or boots.
What is time? What does it look like wasted? Does pride in one's work not have value?
