@@drudriver3660 You know something. Until you called him "Little Stevie" (which I've never heard before), I had no idea how short SRV really was (5'5" according to some sources). In retrospect his handlers were very good about concealing this as much as possible. He was seated for many of his photo sessions with Albert King (6'4") and Robert Cray.

Actually making the guitar sing with a human voice👏👏🎸🎶‼️. Great comment and truth. The first 30 seconds of my first time ever watching him I was immediately struck by the intense intimacy between him and that guitar. They were a duo playing a duet. He wasn't simply a great musician he was the music. Stepped in the River of 🎶🎶🎶 and let it flow out. He said if he thought about where he wanted to go he got hung up in his head and it didn't work. He surrendered to the music and let it come through him. Great reaction👏👏🌹. I hope you do more. There are videos of him mouthing the sounds the guitar is making and it is just a privilege to witness.

Stevie Ray is wearing his AA ear ring- he was clean and sober in this video- when he got clean, he was worried that he could not play with the same intensity as before- this video is proof positive that he could still play with the burning passion as before- what a Legend!- RIP Stevie

I saw him live in '86 and again in '89, both during and after his abuse issues. What blew me away was how his power on stage didn't fade one bit. And, his music, IMHO, became much more his after his recovery. He had so much talent to share, and unfortunately one bad night put an end to it. Sad. RIP SRV.

I saw him in 1984 4th row center stage with 38 Special. He opened the show for them and stole the show. I actually only went to see him play anyway. Watching him play the guitar behind his head live was amazing. I feel fortunate for being able to see such greatness as him and David Gilmour live in concert. Not to sound like a misogynist,
but i'm always happy when i see a woman who gets electric blues guitar. Sometimes i think the frequencies involved can't be heard by women. Like this music was only made to be played in the background during a phone call/toenail-painting session.
So when i can tell that a woman actually feels the depth, intricacy, and mastery of this kind of playing, i'm so impressed -

Great reaction and wonderful words throughout! One point, though, the guitar he’s playing here is a Frankenstein guitar. Stevie calls it a ‘59 Fender Stratocaster because the pickups were from that year. Other parts of the guitar were from other years. Anyway, that guitar is called “Number One” (also know at Stevie’s “First Wife”) and was a trade by Stevie at a guitar shop in Austin. So, basically it was free. The guitar you referred to (the one where he didn’t have the $350 to buy) was a gift by his, then wife, Lenny (actually, Lenora), who got some friends together to get the money to buy it for him. It’s a 1965 Fender Stratocaster called, Lenny, of course. 😊 Last sold at auction in 2007 for a cool $623,500. You can buy a replica for $17,000. Haha. Anyway, just thought you might like to know. Here’s a link to a great website: www.premierguitar.com/articles/GALLERY_Stevie_Ray_Vaughan_Gear
Oh yeah, Number One, is now valued at over $1,000,000.

Not too shabby for a kid from Texas who couldn't read a lick of music. My absolute favorite song of his you can watch tribute videos of the song, sadly it was released after he passed- "Life by the Drop" about his recovery. At his last show he was in another level all together. As he stood on stage before an absolutely stunned audience, waiting in the wings off stage was another very worried musician. He turned to Albert King and said "How the f@ck do I follow that?" Eric Clapton considered not going on stage at that moment. I was utterly devastated to hear the news the next day. Tickets to a show that would never be in hand. I had seen his brother Jimmy play many times but never SRV. Now never would.

SRV's music came straight from his soul. There isn't time for his brain to communicate to his fingers to do that. The sounds just came from deep within and the guitar became part of him. R.I.P Stevie Ray

I saw him in 1981. He can actually play behind his back. Better than a lot of guitarist can plan NOT behind their back. He used very heavy strings and broke them all the time. He was so effortless. Phenomenal

On another reaction channel the person made the comment that to play like that, "he had to be born with guitar in his hands". Someone else said that he died because Jimi looked down said, "no more of that you are coming to play with me."

Take a good look at the strings on his guitar. They’re thirteen gauge strings, some of the thickest strings in the business. It’s like using cables. Stevie visited Eric Clapton while Eric was recording in a NYC studio. Eric asked Stevie if he could play his guitar. Stevie said, “Yes” and when Eric put the fingers of his left hand on the fret board he could hardly believe how difficult it was to squeeze the strings against the fret board. Eric Clapton said Stevie is the best guitarist he’s ever seen. Eric went on to say that he has never seen a man more at one with his guitar than Stevie was.

Dont sweat having to pause songs. You have to do what you have to do. Those of us who enjoy reactors understand. What I love is that you do not talk over the songs and miss things.
