    The 5 pc kit is just $99.
    I play on a 4 pc, and intend to get a good 2 zone for my snare, but IMO? These are awesome for someone like myself who's looking to convert a small acoustic kit and needing spares just in case anything breaks?!
    Great demo my dude!
    Thanks!

    The biggest thing in triggering acoustic drums is you have to know your unit the sensitivities of the trigger when i play live i turn my sensitivity way up high and when i record in the studio i turn my sensitivities down

    You need to use Remo Muff'ls inside the drums to control the ring. I also use the muff'ls under mesh heads. I used ddrum triggers with an old ddrum2 unit, and they are awesome.

    In order to use the "Red triggers" correctly, you are supposed to fill the drums with rubber foam or any light material that will silence the acoustic sounds leaking from the drums. If you follow that procedure and connect them with the "ddrum AT module" you should get a perfect triggering! AT stands for Acoustic Triggering. Thanx for a good show by the way!

      +Johan Belfrage 😒 well that's no fun. Who wants to ruin the tone of a acoustic drum like that?

    • @TrummJohan
      @TrummJohan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may sound strange but that is the way the top 40 bands do it in Sweden. Thus getting moore power to the drum sound through the PA-system. It's the "Scandinavian School". Test it, 'cause you might even like it! Also it prevents two drum sources! So it does make sence! Right?

    Seen these around for a long time and your explanation is solid, but never truly considered them for my kits. Great info on the sensitivity of mesh heads and, for all those who wish to know, is there a dual zone trigger out there that fits that particular role?

    i've been recording some metal drumming (with real cymbals), and still i have all of my red shot triggers working very well. (three years with them). They are very good with acoustic heads and of course some dampening!. Nice video!!

  • @AngelosAntonopoulos

    You can use single-ply mesh heads if you use moon gels next to the trigger (for double triggering) and a patch in the middle.

    Hi. Is DDrum DDTi the same equipment as Alesis Trigger IO, only a different manufacturer? If so, do both modules have a cymbal choke function? I have 3 additional Roland crash cymbals (two-zone) and I would like to connect them to the Alesis Trigger IO, which will work as a slave module with the Roland TD-30 module (via midi cable). I want to have a working cymbals choke funcion for the cymbals connected to the Alesis Trigger IO. Regards.

    4:03 -> "It doesn't make any sense" ...
    I thought; ..... the XLR has a little lock, so with movement of the drum, the cable can't fall out.
    It won't fall out with a jack plug, but that one hasn't got an extra click-lock. 🙂
    .
    Thanks for this video.
    I'm gonna order 2 ddrum-triggers now.
    Great. Looking forward to trying these out.

    What brain were you using to get that 2ply mesh head to sound so great? your Roland? - Would the DDRUMS D3x be a good module for the DDrums triggers?

    Is it a problem if I use this trigger with the cable provided with the module (it’s a trs one) in terms of getting even more double triggering? cause right now it sounds really bad, and I’m assuming it’s my single ply mesh head, but just wanted to confirm if the stereo cable might be making it even worse

    okay, so i put these on a pearl rhythm traveler with those triggers with the remo silent strokes. i get a shit ton of double triggering how would i fix that?

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So it doesn't work as well with 1ply mesh drumheads. That's what the silent strokes are. BUT I tried it and got it to work. Try tuning the mesh head a little more loose. Or a little more tight. Also mess around with the drum module settings. I made a whole video about what you can do to avoid double triggering.

      My rt 30 hr was inconsistent missing alot of hits with Roland 3 ply head. Others say they are designed for mylar heads. This trigger seems to perform better for way cheaper on mesh. I went back to my pd-120. Couldnt dial in the settings on the rt30hr.

    Hi. Great review. Your videos are super informative! I would like some advice from you if it's okay. In Bangladesh, we have a local drum shell manufacturer called BESHI JOSS DRUMS (BJD). I've asked him to make me shells in the following sizes:
    10x4" rack tom 1, 12x5" snare, 14x6" floor tom, 16x13" kick (specs from Pearl Rhythm Traveller). Since I want to make a custom electronic kit to trigger vsti such as superior drummer, I don't really need regular drum kit dimensions.
    I have four questions:
    1) What would wood(s) you recommend for longevity of the kit?
    2) What brand of mesh heads should I put on to get that 'similar feeling of playing an acoustic kit' but is quiet enough to be played in an apartment?
    3) What triggers do you just for the snare (need to trigger rimshots as well), toms (1 rack and 1 floor) & kick?
    4) What brand of cymbals and hats do you recommend? Quiet but sensitive ones.
    I have an Alesis dm-6 drum module to trigger the DIY electronic kit

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Wood doesn't really have an impact for electronics
      2. I like Jobeky heads for toms, still looking for the perfect kick and snare mesh heads. But Roland and Hart are great options too
      3. Rdrums/Jobeky
      4. Roland

      It double triggered only on certain heads. I own the thing, trust me, it works fine.

    Do you know how good the Roland RT30 is with a 1 ply silentstroke for snare? Or if a 2ply is still recommended

      Nope, go with 2ply. Less double triggering.

      Will do, thanks man. Is there much difference in feel between 1 ply silentstrokes and 2 plys eg roland powerply? Since if possible I'd like to get silentstroke on my toms to save some money as the budget is tight, but not if it causes a noticeable differential in feel between them and the 2 ply snare

      You can skimp on the drumhead to save money, the 2ply mesh heads feel better, and the module reacts to them more accurately. There are cheaper options out there than Roland Powerply. Check ebay :)
