I read through the regulations and found an interesting rule: organizers are allowed to modify the stackmat timers at the discretion of a WCA delegate, such as taping batteries in or placing o rings around the reset button.
Well I got a 23.97 second solve. It was an easy double x cross which I thought was a normal x cross. Then I got a RUR' pair and then a R'URU'R'U'R pair which I can do in 1.5 secs. Then the OLL was an anti sune and I got a PLL skip where I just had to do a U'. I'm so sad I lost that piece of paper where I had written that scramble or I'd give it here😭
I once was in a competition and when I finished the solve I thought my computer was in front of me so I reached to hit the space bar and forgot that I had a timer
Interesting fact: I took my friend to his first cubing competition once, and he didn't know how to use a timer And Kit Clement was at that competition, so he taught my friend how to use a stackmat timer And then Kit continued to watch his solve, which was nice
The WCA rules are surprisingly easy to read. And if you're only competing in one or two events, lots of rules simply won't apply to you. I highly encourage everyone to read all the rules that apply to them.
