    I always deeply treasure these intimate looks into the band and its personnel. It's lovely to see Duke's men get some occasional spotlight with the camera. You see a side that is not heavily documented in writing, let alone footage.

    Compelling. It is great to get a chance to hear Russel Procope on alto and clarinet. Hearing some music from the Far East Suite played live is absolutely welcome. Thank you.

    Only a few days after this footage, President JFK was murdered, and the Ellington Band skip their tour to the Far East. Duke's great respect to Japan and to other eastern cultures can be found on his extraordinary album "The Far East Suite", that was conceived after this trip.
