One of the things I noticed about Prof James Tore is that he very often falls back on the statement Life does not come from non life. well if im not mistaken DNA is not alive, and Hydrogen Oxygen and all the other components that make up living things are NOT alive. but I love the thought that if life does not come from non life... then how did the risen living Jesus come from the dead and burried non life Jesus? life does nto come from non life.
Great! Looking forward to it. It sounds a little bit reductionist at this point. Trying to pin down conciousness to brain activity is fraught with peril, but bring it on.
Everyone everywhere for all of history has been making up theories on this, try searching it up and have some fun!!! I personally think philosophy has the most accessible answers. If you haven’t tried thinking through different frameworks it’ll just help life be easier in general. Be aware of the linguistic and unsung implications of what “consciousness” means to you. It can become a vestige that you identify with and defend, if you aren’t careful it can become really hard to learn about!!!!
Why the need to remove spirituality? Not very holistic when "figure out humans". What if "spirituality" is merely an extension of consciousness and cognition or visa versa? It is argued that consciousness does not derive from the brain. That the brain is an interface, a sender/receiver, a vital organizing and regulating organ of bodily mechanisms and storage for the plethora of experiences from which our conscious personalities draw. That it is not the source of our conscious existence, but an interface contained within our non-local, conscious-being. Are we not multidimensional? Or Are we really just a reduction of biochemicals? Reductionist theories have a tendency to, ironically in this case especially, take the humanity out of the equation. I agree with and understand the need to specialize and focus our studies and perhaps reduction-ism is part n' parcel of being human, AND I would like to see a more integrated approach in science. How about merging, and taking seriously, Quantum Physics and Psychology? Thoughts?
well you don't have to be a doctor. you can be a scientist and study the brain. work on consciousness, it's one of the most exciting areas of study in science.
@@drvir Yeah, be careful with that, most that seek the truth but end up Not able to handle it tend to surrounding themselves with theistic lies. Ergo, the earth is flat and God exists and anything else is false no matter how reliable as everything that makes one feel uncomfortable with their place in the world must be false and anyone saying otherwise is an paid shill and Satan/masonic worshipper. Professor Dave “the human brain is the thing that produces our consciousness.” With all due respect, where is the proof of this statement? Where and what is the science to back this up? Listen up guys; consciousness, or the explanation of, is the Achilles heel of modern neuroscience. Anybody who glibly says that the brain produces it (eh-hem, cough cough, prof Dave) is not speaking science nor adhering to the scientific method.
Oh, are you a neuroscientist? No? Have you studied the brain or know anything about it at all? No? Are you an emotionally fragile simpleton with a baselessly spiritual worldview that is so threatened by science that he writes the whole thing off without bothering to actually learn anything? Yeah, that's the one! Stick around and watch this whole series. #20 is about consciousness itself. To dismiss an entire field of science because it threatens a mystical belief you have is really, really pathetic. Stop adhering to a version of science you heard about in third grade and actually learn something.

There is no lack of consensus amongst neuroscientists that consciousness is generated in the brain. Precisely how it works is not well understood, no one is disputing that. But it's in the brain. To say otherwise is a strictly religious statement.

psychology is something very different then biopsychology
Why is an understanding of biology important to psychology?
@@yemmymanzanares8806 Psychology is behavior, behavior is a product of the brain. the brain is an organ. an organ is biology.

we actually don’t know if the brain produces consciousness, i’m not saying it’s an inter dimensional substance or anything but we still don’t know
We know that it produces consciousness. By manipulating the brain we manipulate consciousness.

And as a science supporter do you believe in existence of immaterial soul which coexists with brain creating consciousness?
nope

I ain't here to argue, but are we sure about the relation between self awareness and the brain? I mean, are we 100% sure?
