      In Italian the stairway is called "Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti" which can be translated as "Stairway to the Church of the Holy Trinity of the mountain", referring to the Church that stands at the top of the stairway.
      The English denomination "Spanish Steps" derives not from where the staircase leads, but from where the staircase starts, the "Piazza di Spagna" or Square of Spain, which owes its name to the fact that in the 17th century it housed the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain to the Holy See. Sometimes the explanation lies upside down.
      I loved your video!

    Leonardo Express train from Fiumicino airport takes you to Termini (main train station in Rome center) in half an hour for $14. Big plus that all other public transport lines meet right here too!

    Hello! I have questions pls, travelling from SFO to Rome in may and we will be there early around 7am. Did your hotel allow you for early check-in and were able to leave the bags early? Bec since we'll arrive ealy, we'll plan to check out places early too but don't know where to leave our luggages. Your response will be greatly appreciated..

    • @NewYorkerJuhui

      Sure, happy to answer that question! Our hotel allowed us to leave our luggage in the morning. They don’t have a lobby or a receptionist, so please make sure to communicate about your early arrival when you book. Also, there will be a city tax that’s, I believe, less than 20 euros that you need to pay in cash when you first meet them.

    first of all "spanish steps" is the wrong name that foreigners give, it is called Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti which takes its name from the church that is above, the square at the foot of the staircase is called Piazza di Spagna
    2) Tràs- Tevere the accent is on the first A and means area beyond the river Tiber,
    Have you thought about having dinner in a typical restaurant in Trastevere? No, those are real tourist scams
    3) in addition to taxis, there are 2 train lines that arrive in the center from the airport and are cheap

    • @NewYorkerJuhui
      @NewYorkerJuhui  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for sharing this info! 1) Yeah, in the U.S., it's widely called "Spanish steps", and I agree that's a misrepresentation. 2) I didn't know the meaning of the name. That totally makes sense! I will try to pronounce it more accurately next time. 3) I'm sure public transportation is cheap, and can be convenient in many cases. But from my own experiences, taking a 50-euro taxi makes more sense, when you can split that cost with another person. Taking a subway with suitcases especially after a red-eye flight can be quite exhausting, I must say.

    Recommends not going to a touristy restaurant, proceeds to go to a touristy restaurant.
