hi Brian... i have had nothing but problems with my Atlas turnouts...i have a question... are you leaving the rock & gravel structure with 2 track i will have 3 going to mine... glad you moved the yard down,,,good choice... thx 4 sharing.. vinny

Hi Vinny - My original thought was to "fake" it, and just have two tracks, since the chutes are facing the back wall, but now that you mention it, I could add a third track that dead-ends in the non-hopper bay. Thanks for bringing that up, I might add that.

I have a mini yard like your plan has, but 3 tracks instead of 4. I also have the Glacier Gravel Co. building. Use Walters Cornerstone Water Street Freight House as another “industry”. Use #6 turnouts and one double crossover, and never have had any problems with derailments. Installing NCE switch Kats on the turnouts in the yard. Not necessary, but kinda neat using the cab to throw the switches instead of either my finger or the Kato switch boxes.

That's really cool, I was thinking about switching remotely, but not sure if I want to mess with it on my small layout.

Well, I never know what looks good or bad. If it lined up and the tracks reached, it was good to me. lol Glad to hear you sorted some things out you were sure off. Again, looking forward to it!

Thanks Anthony, now all I need is to pay for everything - It's easy putting it on paper!

I like this.. spreads out the yard a bit. I like the spacing on the upper area better now. Is the double cross over cheaper.

No, the double is more expensive, but more reliable. I don't want to go through what I'm going through right now...

I don't know much about Kato track but , it all looks good now. And I run #4 Atlas turnouts on my layout with no problems. Thanks for sharing, David

I'm glad you don't have turnout problems. I didn't want to take that chance and have to modify stuff, so I changed to the #6 turnouts.

Everything looks great now! I like your change to move the yard over, I was thinking that before, but forgot to mention it.

Yeah, it was getting crowded, thanks again for your help!

Would you consider one of the double crossovers to the other side?

I thought about it, but I like the double to be on either side of the train station.
