Rest in peace dear Angela. You are an emenice talent, a National treasure. You will never be forgotten. We are all indebted to you sharing yourself and entertaining us for over 8 decades. To just say thank you seems so small. But it helps to know that every time we enjoy you again on a TV re-run or on a dvd, we can thank you again and again.
She was average at best. Seems to play the same character in every performance: never changes her voice, accent, way she walks - just her clothes and the words change. Sad for her family of course.

I'm showing this in the nursing home today. They don't care about the quality...they luv the memories. I'll bet u didn't know u were reaching over 30 people at one time! TY for this, Martin!!
I can readily see how much of this has been cut, edited and recut to the point to where there is no reason for u-tube to disgrace themselves any longer. These old films are true classics that the mechanical world does not even know of ot can ever understand !!!!!!!!!! Shame shame shame on them-----u-tube morons!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you like it. It was recorded off-air on transmission in 1984 and has had to be copied onto various tape and DVD as each technology dies the death. Not too bad considering it is almost 30 years old.
Being as that you recorded on VCR then t'ransfer to VHS - then transfer to DVD - I think the quality is great!!!! I can see you did this with a LABOR OF LOVE!!!!! Thank you !!!!
This is one of my favoe movie that A.L. stared in.. When I first came across it I watched it three times in one night.. I love this old girl.. She's one of the GREATEST from the old days.. 👍 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I have always been a huge fan of Angela! Every role she does she adds her grace and wide range. One of the last great actresses of a generation!!!!!!!! Plus she reminds me of my Nana....she looked just like her and had that very sweet charm like Angela about her!!!! Thank you for uploading this movie....such a great treasure!!!!
Ms. Lansbury is probably one of the greatest--if not the greatest actress star working in the theater and cinema today. The lady is also one of the great singers --check out her hits of stage plays--especially "Mame"
Really? You mustn’t have watched the same things I have in which she just seems to portray the person she always portrays - herself in a different outfit.
And mine! Murder she wrote was the only thing that would stop me crying when I was a baby! The music would come on and my mother would put me in front of it! She had Peace for an hour!!! Recently I saw a documentary about Angela Lansbury who now lives in Ireland where I grew up! Well from the age of eight after New York! And I live in London now which is actually where she comes from, turns out she was a real Hollywood star 🌟
Martin, I am grateful for your valiant effort to rescue our "Angel". I have loved Dame Angela since I first saw her in Gaslight (she was 18 years old) with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer. But I adored her incredible performances in Murder She Wrote not to mention the fabulous team that created this series. Thank Heavens for TH-cam, and people like you wise enough to archive and transfer in this age of obsolete technology, taking with it ...our valued treasures.
WAS SHE NOT IN JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS AS A YOUNG GIRL? OR AT LEAST SOMETHING SIMILAR? (I DID HATE IT WHEN SHE PUT ON THAT GHASTLY AMERICAN ACCENT IN MURDER SHE WROTE. LOL)
Falcon Feathers (sorry that I come to this so late)... I just wanted to thank you for such a wonderfully-expressed, humble-sounding and kind comment to the uploader. It is as rare to find on TH-cam these days as the video itself. 👍
This is fabulous! Angela is having a ball! So glad that I stumbled upon it! I was trying to figure out how they got away with mild cursing for a TV movie… looked it up- it was a BBC production, shown in the US on Showtime. Then it all made sense, including the bare bones production values. The supporting players all seemed rather British to me, despite the (varying) accents!
I love Lansbury. She is so sharp. Remember her first movie? she was the maid, in the luxurious home of Ingrid Bergman, and Charles Boyer in " Gaslight." so young, and already had a snippy, nosey, attitude.
My first introduction to her was as Elizabeth Taylor's sister in 'National Velvet' and her iconic role in 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' -- I was so confused to know her both young and old, at once!
Angela Lanabury is such a lovely caracter, she is intelligent, and a wonderful role model for me , I discovered this film on TH-cam recently and I am obsessed with it, I watched it over and over, by watching Angela Lanabury as Ms Fletcher over the years made me a better person in real life 😀 Thank you Angela Lanabury❤
After seeing this movie, I don't believe that Hollywood or England had another actress who could match the talent of multi-dimensional Angela Lansbury. She was so mind blowing here, she just threw me. Angela proved that her quiver had a variety of arrows that could pierce every heart. In Samson & Delilah, she got a spear pierced in her heart and in every subsequent movie or television episode, she pierced viewers hearts with astonishment, portraying diverse characters with shades of gray; this translates to the outcome of her various characterizations over the years and how she built such a magnificent repertoire. For each of her roles [and especially in this one], she created different silhouettes. It's the awareness of her mind that took advantage of opportunities. In each and every movie-TV turn, she always rolled a lot of personality into one character. Other gems of Angela include the Murder She Wrote series, Mr. Buddwing, The dark at the top of the stairs [a cameo, but what an impact]. Truly timeless !
it would be so awesome to see The Dame Lansbury perform on stage !!!! I have seen a few recordings but like Cher and so many other talented folks , nothing can replace seeing them perform in life ! Chers World Tour came close enough for me to see her in Billings MT
Do you know that Angela was so pretty in her younger years just like a doll wearing her hair to chin length, stood tall with high heels and spoken with the most feminine voice out there. She was So Very classy and elegant and I LOVE her wedding dress. It would still be hot for a bride. She was truly a charm inside-out and still is. All respect go out to you, ma’am. I will always remember you even after this whole existence wrapped up and we’re in heaven. 🤗🍃🌹🦋

Its freaking amazing how old she can make herself look. This was 30 Years ago, 20 Years ago was her last Murder she Wrote movie and there she was up and about.
Had to watch it a couple of times to really enjoy Lawrence Olivier and Angela Landsbury. The transfer to tv wasn’t great, but the two actors together was worth watching. Loved it. Just found the NBC Monday night movies. Really enjoying remembering my youth during those years
I have always loved Anglia in murder she wrote, but this is my new all time fav. I can't stop watching over and over, again. I wish there was more episodes of this one.
What a gem! Not particularly good in itself, as it is sadly far too stage'y an adaptation, but a real find. Great to see 2 such superb actors together in a production. I hadn't ever heard of this 1984 TV drama (based on a stage play, apparently). So I didn't realise that 'A Talent For Murder' might possibly(?!) have been the programme that led/helped lead up to 'MSW'. It was broadcast only a few months before the commencement of Lansbury's "Jessica Fletcher" role. I had always reckoned that the start of/casting of 'MSW' was inspired by Angela Lansbury's role as "Miss Marple" in 1980's 'The Mirror Crack'd'.

Second time watching it! It's a fun movie. Olivier was very ill by then and doing a lot of films and the like for the money. If you pay close attention to him, you can tell he's reading from off-camera cue cards a lot of the time. Only his talent could pull that off.. Thanks for posting this. Great fun.

That was the year when the series began. I suppose that the movin picture led to the series, which would seem to be obvious.
