Very good video and explanations for series and/or parallel connections. I'm new to solar and when people just jump into it , it can be costly and most confusing. There's nowhere really to go or to call to get help, so TH-cam is where I go but it takes forever to find the video demo that answers my exact issue(s). This is one of the best videos on the 'tube I've seen so far. Good teacher, too. But one thing, check your audio levels before uploading to youTube. Using the camera mic or the phone mic just doesn't do the best job. Use an external mic or a wireless mic for better quality sound. Nonetheless, good video, bro. I'm a fan.

Nice video. I'm going to be plugging in to a Rover 40A MPPT charge controller. It does not have receptacles for the MC4 connectors. How do I plug in to the controller? Do I clip off the MC4s and strip the wires and stick them into the P1 and P2 receptacles?
UPDATE: Nevermind. The charge controller is set up to receive stripped wires.

Out of doing series vs parralel wiring, will the performance and outcome of energy gains be the same ? Or not? I mean... it should be the same. Energy X + Energy X = 2x. But is there a performance or efficiency difference in how it feels or ' which seems to work better'?

Hey folks .. I believe Im past the beginners stage of solar , though im still wanting to get things right the first time ..
Some comfirmation on my question would be much appreciated ..
    9 x 200w ( 40voc) panels - all in series .
    360v and say 1800w
Disconnect the 9th panel and parallel it with the 8th panel
    320v and 1800w
Im guessing the overall amps would increase only slightly because the 8th and 9th are paralled ..
Could this cause any issues with voltage and amperage inconsistancies ?
    Is it worth it ?
Can i continue adding paralled cells to all the other cells to double the amp output ? They will all be fused pairs .
I have a shading issues for the reason for wanting to do this .
    Thanks in advance 😊

In series and parallel which is now the best to use?
I have two panels of 430Volt 10amps of 24volt inverter or 12 volt inverter. The panel produce 38volt each given 28volt inside charge controller for one. If I connect in series I will have 76volt, is it not too much for two batteries?

    3 panels in series
    3 panels in series
    2 panels in series
And have them linked in parallel?
Not sure if I ABSOLUTELY need the same amount of panels for each series??
    Other exemple :
    4 panels in series
    2 panels in series
    2 panels in series
Then all connected in Parallel ?

  • @johnmiller376

You are confusing me because according to the Ecoflow website, the Delta 2 Max can only accept 60 volts dc. I have purchased 4 ecoflow 100 watt rigid panels. According to the solar panel specs they have a voltage open circuit of 18.6. I would rather wire them in series but that VOC number would be 74.4 volts. If I were to wire them parallel the voltage would be 37.2. 400 watts divided by 37.2 volts is 10.75 Amps. That would be in spec according to ecoflow.

Newbie question. If I have 4x100 panels being used to charge 2 12v batteries which are connected in parallel for a 12v trailer system, does it matter how the panels are configured going into the controller? Or does the controller know what the battery bank requires for voltage?

    • @offgridstores
      @offgridstores  ปีที่แล้ว +2

It doesn’t matter as long as you are in the allowed input voltage of the controller. It’s the controllers job to then step the voltage down to one that is low enough to charge your battery bank

Hi thank you for your helpful videos.
I have a question about my solar system. I had 12v solar system with 10-180 watts panels and 2 lead acid batteries 12v/200amp connected parallel. I have them about 5 years and last month I bought 2 lithium batteries 230 amp each. When I connected new batteries, my inverter would turn on and off automatically every few minutes when there is less or no load connected to the system. I have 5000 watts Giandel inverter. I thought my inverter had a problem so I bought another inverter. This time I bought a 24v 5000 watt inverter and switched my solar panels to series. And I still have the same problem.
I searched online but could not find any helpful information. Will you please help me out with this issue?
    Thank you so much.

When doing parallel circuits you want to have equal panels in each. So with 3 panels you want to do those 3 in series if you can. If not you can buy a 4th and do two sets of 2 panels in series parallel

In series, you multiply the VOC but in parallel, you instead multiply the amps? So in your parallel example, each pair (in series) is 45.6V at 5.78A. Then merged with the other pair (parallel), your final result is 45.6V at 11.56A? So either way, the wattage turns out to be the same. It's just a matter of staying under the power station's max volts and amps. For instance, a Delta 2 has max solar input of 60v at 15A so four 100w panels in parallel will work (45.6V at 11.56A) but it won't work in series because volts (22.8x4) will be way over the max 60V. Am I understanding correctly? Thanks!

This is much appreciated. I have a bluetti ac200 max that can stand VOC 145 and 15 amps.
If I have 4 solar panels that are 38 vocs each and 8.8 amps each, im better off just doing 3 in series right? Because if I do them in parallel its still over the allowable current for my generator it seems. And if I do all 4 in series its over the voc.
3 in series seems to be the middle ground even though its over the amperage, would that be okay?
