Funny how its through watching this that I understand a little better why the AI do and why players should expand with their Commander rather than holding the Com back. Its not always the case for team games or in the Scenarios, but just using that solid build power and presence to improve eco and get LDTs up is nice. Its easy to notice in forward pushing with builders early on they just get harassed by a few units - the AI surprises me in how they exploit your gaps. I have been going through the Scenarios to teach myself, or playing with friends. Currently on "Outsmart the Barbs", the 1v3 one with the shallows in the middle and the two seas. Its been interesting trying to see what opening builds work... When eventually the AI is sending underwater tanks to the beaches and air raids harassing expansion on your own island. It is amusing to see how the AI just snipes all your radars, sets up artillery or tries to worm its way around what you are trying to defend with.
Thanks a lot. This was quite helpful to me, as I just recently discovered this game and was never all that big into total annihilation or supreme commander. Much appreciated.
I would love to see some more updated versions of these, i would also love to see some different openings depending on situations, aka 1v1, 2v2, 5v5 8v8 etc, also different wind situations etc.
@raghna Hi there Timothy Thanks for the videos - very informative for noobs like myself, they are very appreciated. Though when playing online I find that my knowledge is lacking as my opponents know build orders and rushes that I do not know and their game knowledge is stronger, obviously. Sometimes I can hold them off and at the end I land up with the most kills by a wide margin. But I still lose the match because I'm under constant pressure from the get go and essentially get contained. While my opponent is taking map control and eventually teching. So my question is this: would it be possible to have a small series of videos where you explain how to do an early rush and contain your opponent say with Peewees/Pawns or Rocket dudes? And then another on how to break free from such a contain and defeat your opponent? My defense is strong as I said but I don't know how to do the same type of rush to my opponent and how to survive and win if it's done to me. I feel like my game is slow while he is getting units and map control faster. Your advice here will be priceless and much appreciated. Thank you --- for context I'm referring to a map like Altair crossing. Also if you don't mind, what is your username in the BAR Discord? Mine is Acer
Relatively new to this game, but been playing planetary annihilation a lot. Background playing a lot of SCII in its hayday. This video needs remade. For something that you guys have posted directly on the website for a tutorial on a basic opening I'm put off by the audio quality as well as the delivery. Other than audio quality I think that you did a very good job of explaining things. I'll even do it for you if no one has time. I dunno I'd just like to see something with quality as high tier as this game plays. Much love
@Timothy Verbruggen To your note on recognizing units by their speed: How would you deal with it if, say, an enemy paired a flash with a group of scout vehicles, then Ctrl-moved them so the scouts moved at the speed of the flash, to make you think your enemy was actually attacking with like 5 flashes?
Haven't seen it used at all yet. It can be really cool. I think it's not super strong, bc you make weak units look stronger, the opposite would be much more interesting. The most you get from the enemy is an overreaction and early on that won't do too much. That's the cool thing about the game though, is that you can get really creative, so I would say try away. :)
Ragna, if you still do videos, can you do one with the current meta of mass harass with robots? How to defend against it while expanding and harassing yourself.
I don't get how you're building mexes away from the central designated location for each resource icon....? (edit) NM, I thought it might be a way to build several mexes for a single resource location. Alas, no.

Would love to see more early builds like this!
Could you do an updated video just like this one?

Also the timing in general on when and to expand would be great also. If you don't mind, of course?

There's a small radius in which it doesn't matter where you build it, so I tend to build it closest to the commander
Hello, would you be willing to film an opening 10 mins for Stronghold 1v1 vs BARBAI?
loving this game but getting artefacting. This is the only game i get this so not my gfx card. Any ideas?
Check the BAR discord, lots of people there that would be happy to help you, post some screenshots in support channel.
How did you both know the game was over? What about the state of the game made you conclude that? Great video. Thank you.
Map control/production and army size.
