Hi Max. To be honest, i wasn't sure how well a video like this would be received so i did it as a test. I'm glad to see that everyone is finding it useful :) Ill try and add some similar videos every now and again :)
This is great, new players (like myself) benefit greatly from seasoned players offering analysis on newbie games. Last week we had a clinic and a mini noob tournament, that cunning Swoop beat me instantly :) Alko played the winner and gave real-time commentary on how to win (he won). This was brilliant as it highlighted all of our mistakes instantly. Thanks for the guides.
NP, Alko has been doing a great job with the clinics so im glad you have had a good experience with it. I have tried to give some tips live while playing on twitch when I'm online. Once i have more free time, i do plan to help out with the clincs more!
Fundamentally, it's simple: The goal is more Army. To get that, you need more Production, Metal, and Energy. Get more of whichever is limiting you at the moment. Take a guess at what a good build order would be, to keep the resources balanced and increasing. When you find a point where the balance has failed, you know next time you need to go a bit heavier on that resource's income a little earlier. Restart and enact that improvement. Repeat this until you have a killer build order. Throw in some military units to harass your enemy and to claim and protect territory. Congrats, you're now awesome 😉
Zero time to rest! I have just discovered BAR, and am getting wiped every time by the AI in the first scenario mission (the water map). Some great tips here - thank you!
@@luka188 Exactly. BAR lineage is back to Total Annihilation. SupCom was another branch of style from that. Of course BAR isn't developed in a void of inspiration but when I tested it first time last year, without having played any TA: Spring or Ballanced Annihilation, thought it was more "back to the roots" TA than SupCom.
I think notorious was a starcraft player, because you see him using attack move throughout the game, and in BAR its attack move is an attack target/ground. BAR has a fight move feature that works similar to attack move, but units will stop moving and engage when using it unfortunately. So i usually just queue up a movement path zig zagging while i get back to base to build the next step.
starcraft economy aslo feels way different to BAR economy. you can see he's just trying as hard as possible to just make money but he just cant. I had the same issue when I first tried this game.
I used to watch Gyle's replay casts of supreme commander and there were a lot of recurring characters since supcom is such a beloved game. I'm preeeeetty suurre Notorious played that quite a bit too at least.
Yo I got an awesome replay I downloaded. I am new to the game so I would need some pointers and tell me how bad I was. I started this game 3 days ago and I am hooked.
I tried looking online for an answer, but I didnt find anything super clear - what are the main things we should know about the different weapon types? So far I have heard the following: - Cannons/ballistic weapons will do more damage from high ground when they shoot down - Lasers have damage fall-off What about plasma and rockets?
Sorry it took awhile for this answer Aaron. Ive been ill and then was away. So, When it comes to weapons theres 3 basic types. 1: Laser 2: Rocket 3: Plasma. So what you know about "cannons/ballistic" is actually applied to Plasma. So physics of plasma is simulated. cant go through shields. generally has a small splash, and can arc. Laser: Damage fall off at max range, require E to fire, can only shoot in straight line. Rockets: Tend to have longest range, has no counter (see shields), Can normally be dodged as they fly in straight line (some exemptions for this ie bannisher). I plan to do a video explaining all this. But as you can expect, it will take awhile to get it all together.
@@Requiem_tv Hey, no worries. Glad to see you are doing better. Thanks for this reply - I actually had no idea that laser weapons on units actually take some of your banked energy to fire - what a concept. Looking forward to the video!
:D your just so notorious! how could i not :D I hope you don't mind and i hope this was useful for you to learn from :) It takes some balls to jump into 1v1's so keep it up and who knows maybe you will beat raghna one day :D
For me, it really depends on the map conditions. But a mix is not too bad in the beginning. Especially because the solars can store a bit of energy which is useful for wind
It's heard to say. Most 1v1s don't last long and one mistake can lose you the game. Where as a big team game you have other people that can help. But at the same time you have more people to fight against. I'd start with pve then move to big team games. Also join bars discord as they have new player clinics where they teach you the game
I'd advise looking for rooms that are 8v8 or 6v6 and state that they're noob-friendly or something similar. Those kinds of rooms pop up often, and typically it has 1 or 2 good players that teach during the game what you should and should not be doing which is a huge helper to getting you on the right track on how to play.
the dawn of BAR is so much fun, grateful to be a part of this

I really like how both these people had the right ideas in completely different ways
This is a big help. I feel like I’m always behind while the team keeps pumping out units. This helped define what my build order should be!
Glad it could help. Early game its always a balancing act. keep playing and im sure you will get better :D

Volume level is very good! I found some of the older videos wayyy too low but this is perfect.
Hey, yes I got a few comments on volume so I sorted it in the more recent videos

No Problem ! Btw I do have some scenario guides for those missions. Check out the playlist on the channel!
@@Requiem_tv I did! Man you smashed that AI!
BAR is just a SupCom 3 we were waiting for so long!
😃 Indeed just need some bigger experimentals
More like TA 2 ;)

Great video. I always like those beginner videos, where I can learn proper build orders and strategies
Glad it was helpful! Im working on a more in depth guide for BAR, but its going to take abit of work
@@Requiem_tv I typically struggle to transition to tech 2. I always loose sight of keeping up my economy

Yea eco is quite different from star craft. It's a lot more like sup com, which is what I played before BAR

Always solar at the start of the game. I never trust wind in the early stages.
It is more reliable yea, But if you start on a 2 mex start, you need to be more careful with your metal. and solars eats a lot of metal in the start.
For me, it really depends on the map conditions. But a mix is not too bad in the beginning. Especially because the solars can store a bit of energy which is useful for wind
What is best to play? 1v1s or like 4v4 or bigger?
