    Love you all. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation present your requests to God by prayer with thanksgiving. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding shall guard your minds and hearts in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:6-7

    I hate waking up anxious 😟 My daughter got rid of her anxiety by telling herself she doesn't have it.

    Something extremely helpful for me was seeing less privileged people and helping those in need seeing people in actual danger remind me to count my blessings so in a way being thankful for where you are and what you have endured and came out the other end as something I’d advise everyone to try

    Monitoring my cognitive faults and calling out myself when I’m falling down the rabbit hole helps I had no idea this video was so helpful and from someone who has prolonged PTSD and that causing Neurodivergens ADHD and social anxiety watching my triggers isn’t really helpful but I think sticking to a routine gives enough structure to feel safe

    Even as a long term meditation practitioner(thirty years this fall), I still experience fight and flight reactions when stressed. In my case this has been manifest in panic attacks(the flee response) or bad tension headaches(the fight response). I wouldn't be surprised if I was born with an enlarged amygdala(something a neurological study uncovered resulting from stressed out pregnant mothers sending cortisol to their newborns). But the meditation and breathing exercises haven't really worked to offset the fight/flight response. I learned twenty years ago from a psychiatrist that if one is hardwired this way, it's a tall order to offset what the Limbic system does. But for headaches I found Gabapentin worked which was prescribed by a neurologist.

      I reduced my panic attacks when I stopped being afraid of and resisting them. I still have panic attacks sometimes, but they're no where near as bad as they used to be.

    REMEMBER this advise has to do when your NOT in danger. All three responses ARE instinctual responses to danger. And as such have a reason for your brain's resort to those responses in time of danger. All three are normal responses.....but outside of danger this is when it becomes a problem.

    Can you also experience sort of an adrelanine rush trough your chest when you have sudden stress (fight or flight)? Because that's what happens with me and I also notice that I feel multiple fight or flight responses when I am in a stressfull situation. and even after that whole situation if I'm at home after that my body still has these adrenaline rushes when there isn't even something to be stressed out about. It goes away until I get in a stressful situation again. I also have a hard time breathing when I'm stressed because then I begin to breathe shallow and I get used to it so when I try to take a deep breath I feel like I can't reach it and like I can't get enough oxygen.
    Thank you for this video! It has helped me understand what I'm struggling with!

    • @ParallelWellness
      @ParallelWellness  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      So glad you found my channel!! ❤️Yes, your experiences sound dead on with the fight, flight, freeze response. What I didn't cover in this video is the whole added layer of our social influences. Depending on lived experiences, some of us respond to these physical sensation with anger, some with fear, and some of us have learned to harness the energy we have in an adaptive way. Example: I'm a procrastinator, but I'm also a perfectionist. When it gets down to the wire on a deadline I feel the fight/flight response and have learned to focus it on powering through my task. Is it comfortable? No and I usually crash after, but it also doesn't cause me anxious distress anymore. There's a sweet spot where stress can be motivating and beyond that it can turn to anxiety.

      Kevin, have you let your doctor know you’re experiencing this concern? Working one on one with a therapist could also be helpful to address the fear of sleep you have. Unfortunately, poor sleep can make feeling of anxiety worse.

    Hello. I've been in the fight flight for 5 weeks and now not focusing on everyday things. I started a new job mid July and my anxiety started when I felt overwhelmed with work. My manager tried to reduce the workload but the trigger had already gone off and I just had a holiday and the thoughts took over me. I have depressed symtoms too, low mood not sleeping, sweating and constant negative thoughts. I'm off sick this week but I'm even more stressed now because of this sickness. My thoughts have increased to shame, embarrassment, letting people down. I'm in so much pain and my life is passing me by. I have an appointment with a Councillor on Thursday but it's so far away and my manager will be in touch with me Monday followed by gp Wed. I'm struggling to cope. Will I be able to turn off the fight flight response.

      @ParallelWellness  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would love to know more about your experience! For some people, the experience of anxiety is so intolerable that they dissociate from the feelings in their body, emotions and thoughts. It’s effective in the moment, but also prevents us from learning our way through the emotions and more effective coping. Does this sound like what you might be experiencing? Feel free not to answer publicly and just reflect.

      I'm totally the opposite, watching people's hands movements helps me realize more of what they are saying. It also says to me they are engaged in what they are saying. Watching people talk with their hands in their lap would be boring. Maybe was it the camera angle that effected you. Maybe you have something akin to misophonia.
