    I was diagnosed with bulimia a few years ago as a freshman in high school. I still have issues whenever people make comments about my weight or my eating habits. Even a comment like you never drink water throws me off. I need surgery and I was so worried they wouldn't do it cuz of my weight it threw me into a relapse. I started to look at myself in the wrong way. I started reading calorie labels and being scared if it was over 100 calories. I hear laxitives do work but I fear it won't give me the closure I need

    i dont have ADHD. at most maybe ADD. ive been on vyvanse for 5-6 months for BED. ive been having phenomenons where i get up from bed and I immediately get fast heart rate, blurry vision slowly coming on, cold sweats, nausea/salivate (i salivate when i need to throw up too). Im not sure why this is but i guess it could be the medication. but the medication truly is helping me because im so stressed all the time i end up eating everything. i am also really not interested in food when i have to cook. i dont eat when i have patients in office because the day goes by fast so i dont get hungry but then i crash at home. im getting help but my life is in such a rut in some ways. i am blessed in many. i want my family in Lebanon safe.

      I should add, I've made it a rule that I do not eat until I've taken the medication first and given it time to get into my system. it helps so much to do this and prevents me from starting out my day with a binge.

    Thank you. Again, I stumbled upon this channel while looking up how to talk about my weight without it triggering me and having the doctor be able to work. I and my dietician both agreed on getting blood tests done to check on my progress. All that the nurse wanted to talk about was “weight gain” and how to loose it. It did not help having my lab results have high liver readings even though I’m eating healthy and enough for myself to feel full. I even asked to not have my weight be shown or read to me, yet the paperwork for my blood test and doctor summary had my weight in the biggest, boldest font. They put the reason for visit (it was a yearly physical) weight gain which made me so upset. Took me forever to even be tolerant of how I look and feel in my body and it made me completely relapse

    Thank you. I have been working so hard to beat my restrictive eating and my recent visit to the doctor (who knows about this) that I was able to restore my weight. Nonetheless, the whole appointment was due to “being overweight” (not even 30+ on BMI not that I agree with this system)

    I know this sounds weird however, I (a person with an eating disorder) get triggered when people comment on other people's bodies and weight. Is this normal? Because I feel like I shouldn't get triggered. They aren't commenting on my body. Or, if I do say something, they tell me they aren't talking about me. It still bothers me because I'm still hearing about those opinions.

    This is not true. Yes you can healthy at every size, but you can't stay healthy at every size. Usually, young people are still healthy despite their weight. It's like saying anyone can be healthy smoking. Yes, you can be healthy when you start smoking, but 10,20 or more years later, your health is in serious decay. I wish the best of luck everyone with your health journeys. Don't focus on the scale's number, but making healthy changes, eating vegetables, healthy sources of protein and no(or at least little) junk food. Remember, you got this and I believe in you! P.S the research behind obesity and negative health effects is overwhelming. One study I read, where the previously healthy obese people where checked up on later-to find all had severely degraded health relative to when they participated in the original study.

    • @ParallelWellness
      @ParallelWellness 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe you didn’t watch the full video and still misunderstand what health at every size means. The focus of the approach is on healthful behaviours - eating a variety of nutritious foods, moving your body, reducing stress, improving impacts of poverty, etc., rather than simply focusing on reducing body size.

    • @anonymousduck6735
      @anonymousduck6735 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ParallelWellness with love. I believe you have the best of intentions. Health at every size is not true. Obesity is the largest cause of disease in the developed world. This is supported by endless studies going back over a centuary until today. Obesity can be caused by other ailments, however caused by another diseases or only an overconsumption of calories-it is still severly detrimental to your health. You can be healthy obese, but you CANNOT stay healthy. I wish it where not so, but the science is irrefutable. I used to struggle with my weight in the past. Now that i've gotten healthier through healthy habits like good food, exercise and sleep resulting in a healthy body fat percentage(bmi/scale are trash) I am full of energy, sleep well and feel great. to be blunt, healthy at any size is a fantasy meant to make people feel better about themselves. Please open your mind to the evidence that a healthy body fat percentage is important. There is no ideal body weight for anyone, but if you're obese-or worse-your health inevitably suffers. I love that you want to help people. But you arent helping people by telling them incorrect information.

    So I don’t feel like I can talk with a professional, when I was 15 I was told I had major depression disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and ednos.. however when I brought the topic to my mom she said I had “munchies syndrome ” meaning Munchausen syndrome, also known as factitious disorder imposed on self, is a condition where people fake or create illness, injury, disease, abuse, or psychological trauma to get attention, sympathy, or reassurance. It kinda made me feel.. bad about myself to hear that maybe the doctors lied to me about ednos but told her I had this, and even years later I’m still struggling with disordered eating and my weight fluctuates sometimes I am happy and other times i truly hate myself, as well as when i watch a show or an episode of the show and it talks about eating disorders i kinda go into relapse mode, I do think it’s very understandable to think I am faking this because I used to go to proana websites and crave those type of things to “motivate myself”

      It always breaks my heart to hear of people having a negative experience with the mental health system. You can book yourself a consultation appointment with most private care providers to determine fit and if you can trust someone. As an adult, your therapist should not be sharing your information with anyone else. If they suspect you may have fictitious disorder they should be telling you directly. Trust and respectful communication are the cornerstones of therapy. I truly hope you have a better experience if you choose to seek professional support again.

      Hi Olivia! BMI is an inaccurate measure of a person’s health. Have you talked to you Mr medical physician about heart-healthy behaviours that may include diet and movement but also other important factors like sleep, stress levels, etc? Weight loss isn’t the enemy but diet mentality. You may be at greater risk of having disorder eating thoughts given your history that can make trying to lose weight risky for disordered eating. It did work for 3 years. 35 lbs fell off and that was great. After awhile my body took over for my mind and i made readonable choices just based on physical hunger snd craving. Then i got distracted and forgot about it. Just lost focus. Havent gotten back on, for more than a few days. In 5 year. I wonder if others experience this.

      Do you feel like any of the skills you learned have stayed with you? You can always take steps to resume intuitive eating, one step at a time.

      Yes!! I have the skills still. Just having trouble using them. But doing better. It's hard because after a time...3-6 mos maybe...it became easy. My body stopped wanting " more". But now I have to pull from those skills without the physiological help that will take a good while to develop again..also there was a lot of motivation to continue when the weight had fallen off. Now the weight is back on so there isn't the advantage of being in that comfort zone that had developed over time.

    I have dieted since childhood. I had two bouts with anorexia but when I recovered everything went the other way and diet after diet resulted in more weight and I'm almost 300lbs. Last year I lost 45lbs then stalled regardless of cutting calories more for a year. Because now I lose control and binge. I keep trying and feel like if I just stay disciplined I can start losing weight again. I listen to Alan Roberts and agree that people have control over their weight but am starting to consider a different approach because 30 years of calorie counting has resulted in me being fatter. I just can't make it work. So I started intuitive eating ideas but they scare me because I gained 15 lbs back. I don't know how to let go of losing weight. I hate it and want it gone. I don't want the pain in my body, the lack of energy, and difficulty doing the physical things I want to do. I don't even care how I look, I just want to be free of this heavy struggling feeling. So that is where I am.

    I have never been a binge/purge person. I don't think I have ever binged in my entire life. Maybe overeaten, but never binge. I have always had digestive problems since I was a little girl. I had problems going back to as far as I can remember being 4-5 years old. I was never and undereater. I always had a healthy diet, exercised, drank a lot of water, and gave my body what it needed. I've had colonoscopies and have been to many GI doctors and dieticians. Some people just have slow motility. That said, I was so sick and tired of feeling sick and tired so I opted to take laxatives as a way to just get on with my life. It really was just for regularity. I'd drink senna tea, take magnesium, and eat a high fiber diet. All I wanted was to be regular. But as the years went on, I had to take more and more. Then I got involved with cleanses. THAT was what messed me up. The colonics and the enemas. Things got so bad and I was desperate. The biggest problem for me was that because of this one issue, it took control over many areas of my life. And that was when I started have food issue. I was desperate to feel better. After seeking therapy, and going way back into the past, I discovered that my digestive system is my emotional center. And that there were things from the past that had created this inability to digest life. There is always a reason for our symptoms. It may not necessarily be that we are not eating enough. It may not have anything to do with what we are eating but rather what's eating us. I agree with this video on all levels; only to say however, that not every person is the same. And once you do literally become addicted the laxatives, it creates anxiety and fear in other areas of your life. YOU MUST GO TO THE SOURCE AND THE SOURCE CAN BE TRICKY TO DISCOVER. But it's worth the investigation. I'm 50 and it's been a long road. But I will never give up.

    Why “health at every size” has anything to do with personality? I don’t understand why you start with personality.

    I started working out again a couple years ago and have been amazed at how much it improves my mental health along with my body generally. I’m older now so I know I won’t be a super athlete but I do move in my body and the world so much better now! We’ve gotten into a mindset that exercise is for weight loss but it really isn’t-its important for many other reasons though A lot to think about after this vlog ty!
