That's how blind ban had always work in any games. It allows everyone to ban one hero. If there are duplicate band you cannot do anything about it. If you dont ban you risk enemy picking, and if you ban there's risk of overlap which means less than 10 heroes get banned, causing some op heroes to still be on loose. I guess there's strategy in managing these risks, so that's why it's completely blind
Possible reasons why covered bans are implemented 1. To let more heroes open from duplicate bans instead of all 10 being banned - This is to create more chance of getting the op heroes your team wants. 2. To make the banning phase more thoughtful - Thinking of what your opponent might ban already so you choose another hero to ban instead of what the enemy might ban. This gives more suspense and thought instead of just banning the unbanned ones. 3. To prevent target banning - You can guess what the enemy will pick just from their bans. For example, if the enemy bans Diggie, then they might want to pick a lot of heroes with CC. To prevent CC heroes from getting banned, the Diggie ban should be covered. This is also the reason why there are two phases of the blind ban, so you can ban specific heroes on the second phase instead of the first. 4. To prevent ban stalling - People could just stall the bans to wait out for what the enemy will ban and just counteract it. This could cause the ban time to get longer, which is NOT what Moonton wants. Hope this helps out. If anyone knows any more reasons, can reply down below.
Another possibility is "troll" bans, I'm always queueing in low rank (legends IV) and having people ban the least meta hero because, they have trouble fighting them. Note: I'm around Mythic 17 (not that high) but I still get these people
These would only work if your getting a good teammates who knows how the mechanic works, but even so....some of them doesn't really wanted to swap role or just having a basic hero to play with....😢
I like that the new draft system has the seperate stages to use for meta bans, then for counter bans. There also seems to be alot less confusion with people picking roles, so that addition was almost as big. Was interesting to actually see my wr by role too! This was a great change so far

Chang'e is definitely not forgotten or underrated. I feel like she's quite talked about, gets lots of skins and buffs and has many mains and users in mythic level too. If anything, it's Cecelion who's underrated I feel.
This is the exact drafting system that wild rift uses (except there is no 2 step ban where its 3 bans first then 2, instead its all 5 at once), and i kinda like it. The ban conceal is probably to spice things up more because now you cant counter ban (example u banning diggie but enemy wont know to ban atlas or tigreal if your team decided to use either tanks)
I'm just lucky that a lot of the heroes I use never get banned because they are quite niche heroes like minsitthar but honestly in solo rank minsitthar is very powerful as he has so much cc and can counter so many dash heroes, i like how you can literally force a fight with the enemy with him when the enemy is refusing to push but using his skill 1

For me the developers think that by knowing opponents ban or seeing it by the time banning phase started is like knowing what there draft will be or Heroes to be used, seeing it is like knowing their possible pick's or line up already. Draft and counter pick's is a must even in rank games and basically with pro teams.
Duplicate bans will have a chance for other meta heroes to be picked, specially and unfortunately on those epical players who don't know who the meta heroes are.
Duplicate bans are for the newborn players like me who have a few favourite doable heroes to go for a certain role they don't actually play that frequently, but need to go in solo rank
Its a always great to see a roamer tank that knew how to face Js. The tank that was on my team always tries to dodge Js and let the others be hit, we loss
i personally like this, as it means i get to ban problematic or just blatantly annoying heroes (wanwan) and considering some of my "mains" are unpopular picks means i will still be able to play them

Many of the developer's decisions come from psychology of the players. :Like the little "M" logo to signify which team is teh first pick. Too many dumbo players out there who don't have enough IQ to be aware from the beginning who is the First Pick and we have to remind them "We are First Pick Brooo" when they ban Lunox from the get Go for instance. Or Vice versa when we are not first pick, they don't ban Lunox and the enemy immediately picks Lunox

I guess now the players have to actually learn how to play counter heroes.. Since we cant see the bans, players will have to guess the enemies draft from the picks and pick counter and play them instead of just banning..
Chang'e is my go mage if mm role is taken up with enchanted and glowing wand her damage is insane enough to melt most heroes if you have the right positioning
5 bans is good for heros that have hard counters. For example if you are planning to use wanwan, bene or other dashes hero , you can use your ban for phovious. While still ur team can ban meta heros . I'm also very interested to see how it will effect pro scenes
Personally I love it! The way I see with the hidden enemy bans is: You gotta put more skill into it and predict what the enemy will ban so you don’t have 2 of the same hero bans
This is terrible for SoloQ. Doeent show how many gqmes +or- the teammates have so im getting a lot or inexperienced junglers and HORRIBLE games. Everyone is playing aweful and surrendering in 6m. Im thinking of uninstalling after 4 years

The opponent sees who I banned and might think I want to use Atlas… so they ban him. Additionally, seeing who the enemy banned could help with the first picks. Example: If the your team and enemy banned Khufra, Chou, Phoveus, Saber, Aurora, and Eudora then first picking Fanny would be ok.

They add the uknown ban because, moonton discover that you can outdraft the enemy interms on drafting phase. The m4 grand finals is the example. They want to nerf filipino that good on outdrafting opponents 😂
They copy the blind banning of Dota 2. That only prevents OP hero from being picked. They dont allow the captain's mode of tournament in ranked games for some reason.
idk the actual reason but in my opinion there are so many meta heroes so both teams can make a guess about which hero enemy will pick and they ban it soe heroes like nolan martis lunox usually banned due to hidden banning some common heroes are also banned
The 10 bans means there is no way for META heroes to be played on Mythic which is a bad implementation. At least they should have added like 1 or 2 picks before the next Ban Phase. Even on Draft Pick it doesnt go on having all Bans first before Picks.
Well if there isnt any blind bans, what will most likely happen is that everyone will wait for the enemy team to make bans to predict enemy strategies. But the enemy team will do the same as well. So what ends up happening is this game of chicken where people wont start banning cuz the enemy arent banning either. So people will only start banning last second which wastes time.
the duplicate bans are probably so that you cant actually ban too many heroes so it still enables people to use some meta heroes

5. Many machanics in games have copyrigth so maybe ban 5 heroes all at once (for example lol) has the rigth. Doing it this way they prevent a demand.
