As usual, Sai Deepak makes forceful arguments on how and why India remains a Civilizational State, while it became a Nation State only in 1947. But, I have always believed that India as a Civilizational State ceased to exist during and after the Mughals began their reign in India. They, and later the British, systematically disbanded Hindu education systems (including destroying or desecrating Hindu temples, which were not just places of worship, but centres of learning since ancient times). It's sad that eminent leaders, who claimed to be Hindus themselves, including bigoted and closet Muslims like Mohandas Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, instead of reinforcing the notion that India is a Civilizational State, chose to cause more harm to Hindus. Even the Constitution of India is anti-Hindu simply because Hindus happened to be the majority religious community in 1947. This bias has only been reinforced in subsequent amendments to the Constitution (e.g. when Indira Gandhi slyly inserted 'Secular' into the Preamble vide the 42nd Amendment she pushed through during the Emergency period). Even the Supreme Court of India has been sitting idle on some PILs which demand Govt withdrawal from Hindu temples' control. While Congress is well-known as a Muslim appeasing political party, unfortunately for Hindus, even the so-called Hindutva espousing BJP has done nothing to reverse the follies of our 'floundering fathers' who adopted a deeply flawed Constitution. Even during the 7+ year tenure of PM Modi, nothing has been done to bring about a Hindutva renaissance, the way Xi Jinping has done over the past decade to revive their belief about China being the Middle Kingdom, and others exist at its pleasure as their vassal States or as their tributaries. For India to reclaim its place as a Civilizational State, its leaders ought to reverse all the Mughal & British era corruption of our systems, esp. education system. Also, the RTE Act discriminates against only Hindus, as it doesn't enable a well-meaning Hindu to set up a Hindu way of schooling, like a Gurukul system. But, other religious communities have the right to set up schools or institutions to impart their religious teachings. Hence, considering prevailing circumstances, and how all political parties / politicians are clamouring to appease Muslims (even accommodating Muslims from Bangladesh and Myanmar), I see India becoming a full-fledged Islamic Republic in a few decades, if not earlier. That should settle this silly notion of India being a Civilizational State once and for all, as Hindus don't bother to unite even for protecting their own religious identity. On the contrary, Hindus have been contributing vast amount of wealth to many major Hindu temples under Govt control for several decades (some since the British era). The Govt merrily siphons off the wealth from such Hindu Temples for 'secular' causes. So, Hindus have been funding the 'secular' causes such as subsidy for Haj pilgrimage by Muslims, and of late even for Christians to visit Jerusalem - all from funds misappropriated from Hindu temples, as neither Muslims nor Christians contribute a penny to the Govt, the way Hindu temples do (which also pay about 18% tax to the Govt for managing the temple, which is a big slap in the face of Hindus, who are so tolerant of such blatant violation of the fundamental right to practice and manage their own religious affairs, just like all other religious communities in India do. India has always been a pseudo-secular pseudo-democracy. Only a re-colonisation of India, or it becoming a full-fledged Islamic Republic will change things. Hindus are indeed the stupidest religious community in the world.

As this guy rightly said, for one to qualify as a civilization state, it must be acknowledged not just by the native but also from the view point of outsiders.
This is where India claim to a civilization state fails, because the world does not view India as a civilization state for various reason
1) The Indus Valley Civilization mysteriously disappeared, leaving no evidence of continuity.
2) India was never united under a common culture, language and customs. They are so drastically different depends on which part of modern India you are from.
3) No global recognition that India has continuity as a civilization, only admittance that some of Indian culture was preserved.
4) India was colonized over hundreds of years, being influenced by British culture, thus implementing a foreign element.
5) For most of Sub India continent history, India was separated to different kingdoms fighting each other and influencing each other cultures while erasing some of others.
6) Lack of documented continuity, unlike the Chinese.
I believe that acknowledgement from outsider is not necessary. It is not a codified rule which must be strictly applied as the yardstick to measure the civilizational aspects of the country. Also distinctiveness from other civilizations does not make other civilizations less likely to be civilizations. Hierarchical notions of supremacy amongst civilizations do not apply. A claim that disregards the exclusivity of a state (China as the sole civilizational state) or the established approach of looking at things, is highly likely to be met with hostility. So, in my opinion the claim of India as a civilizational state still stands.
Uncle there is enough documentation. Indian culture is a continuation of Indus valley civilization. At least read archeological evidence before making a stupid comment.
China has been colonised by communism. It is not a civilizational state by any stretch of imagination. CCP has destroyed all Chinese culture. It is a mirror copy of US and nothing else.
