    • @coryjohnson2486
      @coryjohnson2486 ปีที่แล้ว +201

      It really is a sign you need to work on it. I’ve progressed from doing light chest stretches (in a doorway) to using a foam roller on my mid/upper back. Slowly roll up and down with arms outstretched to the sides, pausing every once in awhile and just laying back on the roll. Not only does it stretch out tight muscles in the FRONT (chest, ribs, etc), but it also works out knots in the BACK that occur from poor posture. I foam roll a couple days a week for like 5 mins each session and it keeps my neck pain away!!

    • @entertheabyss9785
      @entertheabyss9785 ปีที่แล้ว +132

      @@coryjohnson2486 this is called myofascial release. The idea that joints, muscles tissue, and nerves are actually longer than the mobility we're allowed.
      We are limited neurally and myofascial release with a foam roller allows for the muscle-brain connection to feel safe in certain position so it won't restrict itself.
      Fascia also is very flexible and almost net like, but it's strong and can calcify if left stagnant in certain positions. So doing foam rolling, massaging muscles/nerves afflicted, and posture exercises will not only correct posture and mobility problems, but also give you a wider range.

    • @coryjohnson2486

    • @PsychoBackflip
      @PsychoBackflip ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@meplease2506 Actually, you can't make anyone feel insulted.
      If they are susceptible to feeling offended, it's by their own creation.
      IF someone gets offended, that is clear evidence of an insecurity that they are being shown by the person that "supposedly" offended them.
      In reality they did the "victim" a favor, by showing them that they have a belief about being a victim. Which they are projecting with their over-reaction.
      That knowledge really serves the individual in becoming who they want to be, compared to who they were.

    • @meplease2506
      @meplease2506 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@PsychoBackflip i get what you are saying and i agree with you but we can still choose our words more carefully because everyone of use feel insulted in some way or another even tho they didn't mean to insult or harm us and what you said somewhat supports the perpetrator becuase it can cause something like : ''I didn't mean anything and you are only making it on your mind you are deslusional'' kind of talk
      And i come to realize that the more you hate yourself the more you hate other people and the more you want to change yourself because you hate yourself you try to change other people and there are so many comments people feeling that ''how can you be comfortable with a bad postured body?'' it is because they love themselves unlike you

    As someone with a structural hyperkyphosis (meaning I can't correct posturally, my bones are literally the wrong shape) I really appreciate the way you spoke about it and posture more generally in the video. I was bullied for the way my spinal problems make me look and often these posture videos leave me feeling awful about myself but for once I felt respected and treated with kindness.

      Here is something that should help you out allot, 1 get yourself a peanut foam roller, 2 get yourself a pull-up bar, 3 get yourself a pair of fluffy tennis wristbands, and 4 get yourself a pair of weightlifting straps. Step 1 lay on the peanut foam roller and have it at the top of your upper back, lift your butt off the ground a little bit so your back is leaning more onto the roller, breath in your nose and out your mouth slowly until you feel the muscle go loose. Step 2 slowly roll onto the next part of the spine just below the part you just loosened, and repeat what you just did. Step 3 when you get to the lower back, just roll back up the spine slowly, and then back down the spine slowly, increase the speed slowly until you feel like there is nothing tight in the mid and upper back muscles anymore. Step 4 put some weight on your sternum whilst you are on the roller, try to find the max weight you can hold on your chest whilst still being able to comfortably deep breath, now roll up and down the spine to fully loosen the muscles. Step 4 put your tennis bands on, put your weightlifting straps on, stand on a platform and wrap the straps around your pullup bar, don't have your hands wide, keep your hands directly above you shoulder width apart only, now take your feet off the platform and completely hang, do this and deep breath until you start to feel a burn in your back somewhere, or until your hands get a little tired then stop. If your hands get a little tired then take a short break, then hang on the bar again, and keep going on and off until you feel a burn. Step 5 get a chair or a foot stool, get on your knees and rest your elbows on the edge whilst having your hands behind your head, deep breath again and let your back bend like a bridge, now if you dont feel anything happening on your back, then move your knees away from the chair a little, then go back to bending, and now you should feel a little pinch happening on your back, now deep breath until your back can't take anymore and then you are done.
      Now you can do the exercise in this video, but you will be able to do it way better from having the flexibility to be in the proper position, also you will get more out of it from being able to better contract the right muscles. You do have to go to a chiropractor as well though, getting all the vertebrae pushed back into their correct position can only properly be done at a chiropractor. Now once thats done you emmediately start doing what I explained above, this will speed up you being adjusted into a better position, and then it will keep your upperback from having to get pushed back into a better position again. Hope this helps you out allot ❤️🙂

      @@bulletproof1581 I know you want to help and give proper advice, but many times you can't do nothing with your back unless you go to surgery and this applies to Morbus Scheuermann disease too.

      A really good trick to add to telling yourself to "stand up straight" is to activate your deep core.
      Many people know what their core is and can tense their abs for a little while but they rarely activate their pelvic floor and lower abdomen muscles. It will help your balance and posture amazingly.

      Awareness of your posture in general is the first step. You are already well on your way inside you to making it happen. Try a pull-up bar and let your body relax into the stretch. This for me works wonders, and with my stretching and qigong routine, I am sure i grew at least an inch or two by opening up my spinal column’s spaces. Also helps to release pain as well.

    Kyphosis is bad because it compresses your chest cavity, reducing lung air volume intake and increasing chest pressures. This adds strain on your lungs and heart, which leads to many health issues. There is also nerve irritation in some individuals.
