The grand daddy of them all. There have been senior drum corps that come and go. and then there is Hawthorne Cabs who have captured the hearts and spirit of the general public. Because of Hawthorne and their charisma and unmistakable sound they deserve to be called the Drum Corps Magnet. Always remember this drum scores at competitions are not everything. Crowd Pleasing to the Audience. This is The Hawthorne Cabs Signature. Play to the People. The Greatest Drum and Bugle Corps of all time. case closed.

My father was with the Yankee Rebels in the 1950s and early 60s. As very small children our mother would put us in base drum cases for our naps. My family traveled to Miami a couple of times for competitions. We never missed a March of Champion's competitions in Baltimore. In 1974 I was Miss. Rebel for the Yankee Rebels hosting of the March of Champion's.

Thanks for uploading this! My grandfather is the bugle player at about 4:18 and it's awesome to have this footage and be able to show my friends.

Best 2nd place corps ever! That’s why it was such an honor to beat them. Long Island Sunrisers 1977 DCA Champs.

I was in HS marching band in NJ and some of the band parents were in the Caballeros back in the day. Once it a while, from the bleachers one of the parents would stand up, whip out his trumpet & play the solo at13:05 when everything was dead silent before we began our opener, Malaguana. It was pretty nuts. Fun times!!!

Great show but not enough to stop the Sunrisers from winning their first of two titles in a row.

Wow!! Such great refreshing memories for me! My older brother has graduated from Hawthorne High School there too. This is a great video! I love it. We used to live in Hawthorne together (December 1st 1970 through February 17th 1979). It was my favorite childhood town....and still is..for over many years now. The Caballeros were great! Thanks for sharing!

This was a big part of my life 20s. If you wanted precision and execution you had the Madison Scouts and the Phantom Regiment, but if you wanted to have rhythm and fun you had the Hawthorne Caballeros and the Muchachos. In my humble opinion.

Back then the video recordings were horrible the camera people would focus on one person maybe the back of his head or on the side of those three members or whatever they're called they would focus on one person and a color guard all by yourself or they would focus on somebody playing finger cymbals when the solo soprano would be playing a solo is very very poor back then things have gotten a lot better thank you
