- i filmed this like a month ago and finally mustered enough motivation to finish editing; i don't need to study for midterm exams in late may lol. anyways i hope you enjoy this slightly different format from my usual study with me vids! more shtuff in description as always ↓↓↓
today's video is a study with me vlog! the subjects i studied today were political science/american government, physiology, and french linguistics. the ucla campus is starting to reopen during spring quarter so it was exciting to study in a library and visit the recreation center for some aesthetic, relaxing study vibes. good luck if you're taking final exams soon, and if your school year is already over, i'm so jealous of you.

how i solved this problem last year: get yourself a kindle (which is $$ but a one-time investment) and then download library ebooks onto it. changed the quarantine game for me.
Check to see if your library had an ebook option like overdrive!
regarding the pool, i work in one as a swim teacher and the cdc has said that the virus can’t transmit through swimming pool water, so as long as it’s distanced, it’s very safe! especially due to chlorination
I am a swimmer and it is the same thing. All we have to do is have a limited number of people per lane.

i’m on a swim team and yeah we use every other lane and wear masks when not in the water
i'm a lifeguard and was also thinking this ! at my pool, it's just the varsity team training tho since olympic trials are this year (for canada) :) they have to be socially distanced on deck & are only allowed a certain number of ppl per lane

Most of my hw is electronic or online. I opt for e-texts so I don’t carry heavy books. Or I take photos of my readings to save myself from carrying a whole textbook. I think it varies for everyone. Depends on your major. As a art major I have less books. But either way, I am just suggesting if it is not essential, then you don’t have to carry everything around.

I’ve worked that film set that’s been on your campus. Can’t say anything about it really, but those food delivery robots kept driving into the shots and the crew had to team up to move them when the AI couldn’t figure out how to get around their equipment, haha!

yeah i agree with you... we've certainly lost so much. i'm in my first year of junior high/middle school and i was really excited for the option classes, the lockers, and the different classes, but i didn't get to experience any of it :((( but the pandemic helped me grow closer to my friends and family, and made me realize how much i need them

I'm so thankful that I don't live in a city. Our library was open throughout covid with book quarantines, and outdoor pickup only. Browsing/Studying opened around February.
i literally had to take this spring semester off because transitioning from high school to online college work was a lot for me and definitely affected my studies. hopefully when i go back in fall, the "college experience" is a lot better for me!

It’s so interesting seeing a difference in places, because my college had full online for like half a semester and then like the fall was half online and some were able to go in person or hybrid. Things were still open just social distanced, even our campus library once the fall semester. My college actually is removing mask stuff starting in June so yay!!

What you said about loosing education. I'm a senior and I hadn't realized how much less productive classes were online until we reopened. Huge difference, I just don't want to deal in what ifs. But it is a shame

In all my years of undergrad and grad school I went to the library so few times. I basically only went when I needed a book but didn't want to or could check it out and once to watch a movie for some violence in media course I had to take. Libraries just aren't the right study environment for me; I liked reading while outside, sitting under the trees. I also didn't live on campus so between classes and work, I was usually rushing to leave campus.

wow ucla is really strict on covid stuff. I just finished freshman year at the university of michigan and almost all the buildings were open (some with reservations) and you just had to fill out a symptom checker to get in

I’m thinking of buying the pilot frixion highlighters, but I heard that they smudge textbooks if you try to erase them. Is this true?
Yeah, it does. As a result of that I usually don't use those highlighters for erasing in textbooks. But they're perfect for highlighting in textbooks though as they don't bleed through the pages. I have one in my pencil case for just this reason 😊

Regarding the last comment you made about no one being happy about the pandemic, I'm pretty sure universities in my country are super glad the pandemic happened, because for most classes they forbid you from going to campus or even staying on the university residences, and they force you to take online classes from home and you're still paying the exact same amount for tuition. So, basically, they don't spend any money whatsoever in light, water or gas bills, because the students are not using those, they were able to either fire or lay off "non-essential" workers, so they have a huge decrease in salary expenses and are basically pocketing the extra money entering the school. You obviously have to pay for your own internet too, so it becomes even more expensive. And don't even get me started on the fact that if you want them to give you your diploma at the end of the course you have to pay 600€. For a piece of paper!

i was wondering how you felt about living on campus in LA despite still having all online courses? i’m debating going back to campus in the fall but still have online courses and so is it worth it? for reference i go to cal state northridge.
