- Hey Hyundai Fans! This is a 2016 Elantra SE rental car. This is what we were given after dropping the xB off at the collision center. Instead of keeping this car we decided to upgrade to a full size vehicle after having this Elantra for 1 day and realizing that it was just too small and we needed to have something bigger over the next 2 and a half weeks. When we went to pick up the full size, they didn't have any there so they gave us an SUV for the price of a full size. I'll be posting a video of the SUV we now have in the next couple of days after I wash it. A guess the gauges video of the upgrade will be posted tomorrow night. 7/22/16.
This is an amazing car. I have this car and have had it for over a year now. Its an amazing car. Especially because of the fact that Hyundai is gaining ground from its fallback in the years past. The warranties that Hyundai Offer are spectacular. America's Best Warranty...
I have a Black 2016 Elantra SE that I bought new and my car has none of the issues you mentioned in the video. Since its a rental car, my guess is that this car had to have some repairs due to renters of the car abusing it and such. I Even went to check my car after watching this video and it didn't have any of the problems you mentioned in this video.
Everything feels solid on my car, gets great gas mileage, drives solid, and nothing cosmetically flawed like you pointed out in this video . Hyundai has come a long way and there cars nowadays are a good choice, I love my Elantra. Everyone is entitled to there opinion, now if this car was brand new and fresh off the lot then I would be worried, Haha!
Hey man I’m getting one do they have a back up camera?
How often would someone play with a piece of grill trim though?? 🤔😂
He’s just knit-picking at this point😂
You did this entire review with a definite bias against Hyundai. We get it, you don't like Hyundai, and you like Toyota. I used to drive this exact car, a 2016 Elantra. The only mismatched body panel that I could see on my car was the passenger side rear door had a very slight wider gap next to the rear panel when compared to the driver side rear door. It was barely noticeable. Before I bought my car, I looked over everything on the car, inside and out and again, that was the only issue I could find.
Did you ever think that the steering wheel alignment might be due to the fact that this was a rental with 30K miles on it and previous drivers might have beaten the car to hell as the drove it? And the issue with the chrome grille insert making that noise when you tug on it -- I never felt the need to sit there and tug and pull on the grille assembly, I guess I missed out on some sort of twisted ritual. BTW are you going to tell me that if I were to do the same thing to any body assembly piece on a Toyota, that every single assembly piece on the body of all toyotas would not make a screechy noise like the Hyundai grille chrome piece did? Even so, I never had an issue with the chrome grill assembly becoming loose or misaligned on my Elantra.
Yeah I will agree with you on a few things, the noise the car makes when you use the key fob is just stupid and cheesy, it sounds like a clown car, and the keys that I had with this 2016 Elantra were outdated. The front and rear headroom of this car was also was not the best due to that fluidic body design which Hyundai used for the 5th Gen Elantra. And you're comparing the headroom of this car compared to a Scion XB? Which btw has much more headroom. If you wanted a fair comparison, use the Corolla instead.
As I mentioned, I had this 2016 Elantra for 83,000 miles, until it was totaled in an accident at the end of 2020 (100% the other driver's fault). As crappy of a car as you would like to make the Elantra out to be, the car did a helluva great job in protecting me in a high speed collision. The 2016 Elantra was also the most reliable car I have driven, much more reliable than a 2007 Mazda 3 which I used to drive, and was a disaster.
The '16 Elantra was such a good car, I went out and bought a new 2020 Elantra - and btw, after doing a thorough lookover on the entire car before I bought it, there were no misaligned body panels, not even a slight or barely noticeable issue with this. And yes, the headroom of the 6th Gen Elantra is much better than the 5th Gen 2016 model.
And thanks again for your fair and balanced review.
I have a 2017 value edition. it has none of the issues you mention
The alignment isn't the cars fault. Whoever last had the vehicle most likely beat the shit out of it and then the rental company had to take it in to get fixed and the people who did the alignment didn't do it correctly.
True. Who knows, it could be that it has never had an alignment.
This looks literally like the same exact one I’m hoping to get 😇
Hi
Did you get it?
dude our 16 elantra with almost 90k miles doesn't have any of those issues it's just because it's not taken care of now stop your bitching because the elantra is a well built vehicle
We all have different opinions, and I wouldn't buy the Elantra either. That uncomfortable car is too small anyway. You need to respect other's opinions.
Are you the guy from ratatouille 10:35 😂
I have the 2016 se version, dark blue with 42k miles. Excellent gas mileage!
It's just a rental for God's sake, get over it.
Don't worry, I did. When it was no longer in my driveway! Lol
Thank you at least someone understands
if I was a betting man I would say it's probably been wrecked and repaired
Only thing about the elantra is there's no good place for a cell phone mount.
Found a used 2016 Elantra (base model) for $5,300 USD. It has 100,040 miles on it and it’s in near perfect condition. Do you think it’s worth the price? I want a second opinion to see if this is a good deal.
100k miles for 5k is not worth it. The cara value is around 3 at that point
@@colevanboceg5399 you’re wrong man. Kbb really really says otherwise
@@c0llinPM I just sold my 2016 Hyundai Elantra with 60,000 miles for 8000. This was a year ago he posted this comment lol. It was not worth that much. Maybe 4500
@@c0llinPM and the used car market has skyrocketed due to covid and everyone buying cars. So cars went up in value
@@colevanboceg5399 this is very true
the car is 2016 and its abused wow whoever had that car did not take care of it poor car
Rentals really have rough lives. It's kinda sad.
Beats walking!
I'm sure Toyota Scion has just as many Quality issues. It's crap!
wtf I have the 2016 one too and I don't have any of these problems and mine looks much much better
and my key is different with a remote control
I’m sure it’s been in a accident to look like that after all it’s a base model
The steering and feelung the road feel insecure, and wind blows you around, no pick up but cruises well at high speed, lots of room
Its a rental car. Wtf u expecting. Not all renters will take good care of it they just dont need to crash
Looking forward to the new Elantra Sport coming!
why the thing making that sqeaking noise
Cheap build quality my friend. Cheap build quality.
This guy is so dramatic
Fr when he started talking about getting in the back seat imao
Hopefully the new refreshed model has better build quality.
I hope so! It looks nicer IMO.
+© Maxxtruck9906 I also think that since this was a rental car it wasn't taken care of and or may have had previous body work. That could also explain some shoddy quality.
I agree. Rentals really get abused. I've always had a little bit of a soft spot for rentals because they get mistreated and I think alot of companies don't maintain them on a set schedule.
it’s a harshly used economy rental car what do you expect? also when you complained about the difference between getting into the backseat... the scion xb is a large, square shaped car, this is a compact sedan they can’t be compared in that way. also, in modern day cars bumpers are all made out of plastic so they’re all gonna be flimsy and move a little even if it were a mercedes benz 😐
If you take a sledge hammer to the hood, it warps, and makes mysterious sounds too. What about just the function it was intended for? "DRIVE, BITCH!"
Do you know if this is a Korean or American build? Usually the VIN tells...
I just bought this model in 2022, and no, it's no Sonata. And it's not supposed to be. I'd say your car has been driven to death. I guess if you go pulling on the exterior parts they start to come apart. But who cares about a quality key/fob? Yeah, I think you like to pull things apart, don't ya? What is piano black?
Its nothing wrong with the car it's just that specific car
I just got mine it's same but white Pearl color , I literally jumped up to check my car , its so even that I can't tell if there's anything, but that car really got abused
Oh my god. My uncle has a 14 Elantra. So far.... The foglights keep collapsing into the bumper, and don't usually work, both headlights have had to be replaced cause they stopped functioning, the hood doesn't latch properly and neither does the trunk. Btw it has less than 30k on it... It was purchased new too.
Wow. That's a pain. Sounds like his is a piece of junk just like this rental!
i do like it but its whole car looks dull i mean i know its 2016 but still no backup camera
does the base model of honda and toyota have backup camera?
givens auguste base model
I have this car and it has a back up camera lol
Very bias view, cant be trusted. Especially if your favoring another brand
Quality for rental cars are actually worse then a consumer car. Believe it or not they make rental vehicles cheaper Soley because they know it’s gonna be a rental car.
I think you’re just biased to be completely honest you should never judge a car based off of a rental in the first place and speaking of build quality I’ve been in the car the Scion you’re talking about and their pieces of shit so I think one you got a bad example of this car and two your extremely biased.
Good review, but it looks the the previous renter was not nice to this poor Elantra.
I wish i had that grey, i got blood red colour that shows dirt and winter salt
This guy has a problem
Hopefully the new Hyundai Elantra is better
I'll have to check one out. I think the new redesign looks better!
+© Maxxtruck9906 me too! Hopefully they improved on fit and finish! It's crazy to think that a 2016 is already in that condition
I think it was used and abused/road hard and put away wet. My ex had a 2016 Elantra base and it was fine, oh well!
Oh those panel gaps would make me so mad.
I know! I was furious just looking at them. I went easy on it in the video. Lol
Lol, I'm loving the "Maxxtruck9906 rap!"
Lol. Glad you like it man!
I love old desig with new
KAREN REVIEW..
That car was in an accident, for sure. Bad job putting it back together.
It's a rental car so it's not gonna be in great shape
you make good reviews
Thank you! Glad you like them!
Dude go build your own car or review a car before buying one
Lol bro tell me one good thing about this car, don’t have a 100k expectation on a 15k car
It's a rental for God's sake. Who cares?
When I am watching this video has 65 dislikes and 56 likes. Wow😂
Crazy isn't it? I can understand why.
EliYourCarGuy people must hate this car
It's all the Hyundai Fans
no cap nobody gonna notice anything of the flaws u mentioned except for little room...
Honestly such a disposable car, it's sad.
That be the truth.
So you bought a car with all the little things that bug you. Serves you right. FYI, I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE AS LOONEY Goose as what you have. The car was used hard.
As I stated at 1:10, this was a rental vehicle.
thank you
Looks like it will go like a son of a B, but it dont
