Hwei: 10 spells
Blitz: Slows himself
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
and rumble silence himself
excellent
legit, I've been thinking this since back when Aphelios was released
@@akkir6707to be fair, rumble is broken AF
Always nice to take a couple of years away from League and check in to find a champ with 10 abilities
literally what I was thinking
It literally makes me want to stay away from it
@Dudu_DaDa it's really not that hard. He's actually very simple.
@@gamergod6061 Exactly that's what I love about this kit. A structure I wish more games had.
3 abilities, each with a theme "offense, support, crowd control" just select one and then each ability is that theme.
Simple but versatile and expansive.
@@gamergod6061 I know, just spamming skills LMAO
Nami's E: Apply 3 hits that gives bonus slow and magic attack.
Hwei's W: 3 options worth of karma's kit.
The strategy tips at the end are a welcome addition to the spotlight
An Amateur Ionian painter actually manages to enter the art school... Luckily for us.
I see what you did there 🇩🇪

He was preparing for this for 200 years

Finally, something to read while I wait for Morgana bind to wear off!
LOL
LOL. Although I agree I love playing Morg, but her q needs a nerf. It lasts too long
@@UrSammichMorgana has literally been dogshit for ages until her recent jungle buff, her Q is super easy to dodge too since it’s slow af
What a tired joke, i'm sure you must think that was clever
Mages were food of assassin.
If it's tanky or bruser jungler then Morgana is good (may be).
remember when RIOT said " we don't want to make an invoker" ?
And they didn't... Unless this counts as a discount version
Looks like a discount version but you cant deny there was a lot of inspieation from invoker, i would also put aphelios on the same category @alexmesaritis7143
@@alexmesaritis7143 I mean...he basically is. Same amount of spells (10) and requires QWE combinations to use
Hwei is so fun to play. At first he might seem to have a complicated kit but after a couple of games you sort of get the hang of it. It’s hard to be bored playing a champion that has 10 abilities.
9 spells isn't that crazy. he looks cool. can't wait to see people like faker play him
Teammates already struggling with 2 abilities champs, can't imagine how this will go
And just remember, they don't make overloaded kits!
@@sixtysixstyxnot really
True, my last team had an annie that missed her Q ability multiple times :S

Finally, after 200 years of collective experience, the 400 year champion
Can't wait for 800 years!
Nah, Aphelios seems harder to play
Copy paste invoker
@@NigelsKanalwhat? No he's not tf
@@NigelsKanal I learned that champ in a ranked game! This guy thinking I might need some bots 😂
No matter how many champs get released, the 200 years of Aphelios experience is the best
"no such thing as mistakes, just happy accidents" love the Bob Ross quote
This champ would be amazing 10 years ago when I had the brain capacity to play him! :')
it seems like that at first glance but hes really not that complicated compared to other difficult champs in league.
@@darealrulezbreaker9493 hmm, I disagree. Maybe not the most mechanically difficult champion in terms of clicks (he's essentially a versatile control mage after all), but knowing what to use in each situation is pretty nuanced. I don't think any other champion really compares in terms of the difficulty of their split-second decision-making.
@@adamdecoder1 Pretty nuanced.... Yeah ok Phreak.
@@endefisto123 Huh?
@@RottenHeretic It's a pun. Champion is an artist and nuances is a term used often in art.
No Hwei, he’s finally here!
There was no Hwei you just did that
I’m amazed Phreak didn’t say that in the video
Lmao.
Do you know the Hwei? *clicks
@@sup3rAVATARtlafAN at 6:31 he used the hwei way pun

I was expecting 30 minutes on this spotlight but this is acceptable
Honestly its pretty simple given that theyre all just one sentence each
they put all 200 years into this one
The legendary 200² years champion is finally released.
love that Bob Ross reference at 6:15
"Remember, there's no such things as mistakes. Just happy accidents." This is a wholesome reference ❤
My teammates have a different opinion on this matter...
Bob Ross
What if Hwei was a mistake and a sad accident?
"We're just gonna put this happy little bush right here, and that'll just be our little secret. But if you tell ANYONE that THAT bush is there... I will find you! 😠"
adressing community feedback is a happy accident
Q = Damage
W = Defence
E = Control
got it
More like W is enchanter stuff
W = utility
And so it begins
W - Utility, E - Control
I love that it's still phreak that does these
Honestly I worries they would be super complicated, but it's a very digestible move set
I legitimately can't believe we finally got Invoker in League, even if he's one power of 3 less complex.
Invoker has 10 abilities...? Hwei has 10 abilities....
@@Wolforcehwei is much easier because you don’t have to remember spell recipe combinations. You just have to press keys that are already mapped out
@@SmiteMe82 exactly. its easier. imho thats better for the same amount of content.
@@Wolforce its exactly the opposite. this is budget invoker. The amount of spells is not the point. This character is basically just brand with more steps, whereas Invoker actually feels like playing a Master of the Arcane. He is a true Wizard and his abilities reflect that
@@Wolforce invoker has 10 unique spells with independent cool downs, not 3 damage spells, 3 enchanter spells, 3 CC spells
As someone who hasn't played since season 5.. I think trying to learn this guy would give me a brain aneurysm
its actually super easy
Barely an inconvenience
it really doesnt seem that hard
That says more about you than him
While he definetely has the potential of having a high skill ceiling, his skill floor is actually a lot lower than it might seem at first glance. While he has a lot of abilities, all of them are very straight forward, and they dont have any special interactions with each other or heavy limitations like Aphelios has with his guns. He also doesnt have any difficult conditions like Azir with his soldier positioning or Samira with her Style meter. Id argue that hes one of the most straightforward champs in the last few years.
I was long awaiting a champ like Hwei for a while now... Well I thought that they will never many any like it - due to increased difficulty - but I'm glad I was proven wrong!
I like him I had my first match yesterday with him and it was refreshing to not know wtf you are doing but it works out
"It's Invoker. We put Invoker in League."
Mom, I want Invoker
We already have Invoker
Invoker at home:
Invoker is way cooler and more complicated than this thing.
@@B-l-a-z-z-e-R Thats the joke
Next we need is a fighting game champion with different combos like his QWER can be left, right punches and kicks and chaining them creates abilities
I like what you're doing with the spotlights, they seem more fresh
I'll just jam random key combinations and pray
😭👍 thank u
1 out of 10 times you get a flashy turbosmurf combo
...the other times better go unmentioned as it would defeat the artistic vision
The Bob Ross reference! ❤
There's no such thing as mistakes, just happy accidents 😌
Yes, also the name Hwei itself is I think a reference of how Bob Ross was pronouncing White (Hwite).
The outplay potentials are untwinkable!
Cant stress this enough, Kudos on the cheat sheet, that's extremely helpful
Cant wait for the skills description
They're not that long.
they r really simple and to the point suprisingly lol
@@twojastara3710 yeah I think hwei us actually well designed, surprisingly
Nasus passive is 15% life steal just a reminder
Shyvana gets armor if her team kills a dragon, insane or?
Garen regens health when out of combat

@@bulletcola7890 but it isnt
@@fatmonkey3396 I checked the description, it is basically just that, outside of a split-second AOE affect from landing an ability twice.
As an Aphelios main, I feel the sudden urge to start playing mid XD Love the new champ!
ngl i legit thought phel will be hardest champ to master with all those weapons. now he feels like piece of cake watching hweis spotlight
As someone who has been playing LOL for over 10 years. Its insane you can play a champ like Trundle and then play Hwei. I understand the game has to grow but every new character does not need 10 abilities.
so, tell me the last new champ that had 10 abilities? :)
Well since I haft to explain Hwei’s abilities for some reason. QQ, QW, QE, WQ, WW, WE, EQ, EW, EE, Ultimate, I’ll even add a bonus with passive. If I haft to explain myself any further I will be wasting my time like I did even with hafting to say this.
It’s because they need high-skill combo champs for esport views.. every champion from now on will have at least 6+ abilities
@@RuralRand0mness It is okay that you didn't understand my comment, but it is baffling that you didn't manage to understand your own.
"Every new character does not need 10 abilities" No, definitely not every character needs that, but that's okay since Hwei is the ONLY one that has such a skillset, at least recently.
You're mad about change, I too don't mind some simple designed champions, but to say that they only release loaded champions like this one, is just plain stupidity. Plenty of basic, very simple champions in newest releases. You're wasting your own time.
@@1cocolemons Its less being mad about change and more being mad about so many unnecessary things being crammed into one champ that it loops right back around to being stupid again. Change is good. Complexity for complexities sake? Not so much.
"This is the Hwei." That got a little exhalation out of my nose.
Hwei's voice actor is by far one of the best they've hired in a long time. There's emotions and tones within his voice that others don't have and it's glaringly obvious.
I know right? You can really hear it in the “Feel with me!” line on his ult cast.
Nah, the Aatrox remake voice acting was definitely the best.
@@NPC_maga Aatroxs was around 2018, so it still fits.
Thats something the Hwei voice actor would say!
Would be funny if it's ai generated :D
We dont feel like our champs have overloaded kits
200 years back at it again
Now we need a 3 stance (qwe) champion that moves alot of the battlefield. Not like Udyr that focus on AA but actually gives other spells/moves in another stance.
that's kinda how all the transformation champs work: Jayce, Nidalee, etc.
@@user-wc9ce4bc2n they switch with their R. i meant with QWE as:
In Q-Stance you will get access to Q-W, Q-E and Q-R.
In W-Stance: W-Q, W-E and W-R
In E-Stance: E-Q, E-W, and E-R
Ultimate is something that champion have access to from each stance, which executes differently but does not switch stance to. While Q-Q W-W E-E does nothing but empower the stance that champion is in.
This is what expected from Qiyana at first when I saw her 3 elements.
Then that's just another hwei
@@juanvictorz.escanilla1265 true, but unlike Hwei, champion stays on that specific stance. Hwei was something that was totally unexpected since back then there weren't complicated inputs or kits like Aphelios for example.
@@Caporai well thank god you aint a champion designer lmao... last thing we need are these overturned champs that just keep coming back to back
So Sad we can't paint "Karthus Ult". It would be very useful 😢
Great video, Phreak. Always appreciate your videos!!I haven't played league in years (began playing TFT recently) but the character depth and massive storyline has always kept me in the loop.
As an invoker main during my high school days i'm happy to use him now that i'm on league
what a glowdown
youre settling for budget invoker? sadge
Keep his cooldowns and/or mana costs reasonably high and we may have ourselves a solid mage
His page was said to have tons of mana costs
Surprised that they managed to show Hwei's abilities in 6 mins
Bro he has everything ... new Champions like him are destroying this game...
He has the second lowest winrate of all time
every new champion has the lowest winrate of all time until it goes back to Ryze by a longshot@@Starguardianbard
the game already destroyed thought
Artist who decides to go to war. Can't imagine any parallels for that.
If properly balanced then this should be one of the hardest champions in the game. Knowing which ability to use in what situation is going to be a huge skill test.
That's predicated on every ability having a unique usage. Most of his abilities have overlapping usage, and the ones that don't are either hard connected to obvious combos or completely standalone with no wrong usage at all. No amount of balance will change that.
HUAWEI are making champions now?
Champion for people with good memory.😅 Can't wait to see it in tournaments to see how pros handle him.
Nerfed until win rate 20 percent
Invoker finally made it to the League!
We already have Invoker at home.
Invoker at home:
This is longer than Aphelios's 💀
Viego and Sylas bugs incoming though 💯
@MrDJ20007 well that's just rude
Sylas seems relatively straightforward
Not really for sylas
"Our champions are not overtuned" - RIOT when releasing Ashkan, whoes passive has more words than whole Nasus kit.
first thing came into my mind is invoker. interesting to see league version of him.
I just fell in love with this champion so much, his kit, his voice everything. I hope I'll be able to play him but I guess I'll just have to let the hype die down to play him freely XD
good luck playing it because it will be banned every single game for a month
yeah true I guess I will do against bots for now XD
Play quickplay

@@beratdogan337I wonder why people would ban the champ that has 9 basic abilities
Wait, will you bring back the winter map? 😮 Would be awesome
It's an Arena map

Winter map is trash! Ice drake is more useful than that map
@@gideongrey7575 Okay? Good thing it's not for being useful and it's for having fun
Fun fact, in mid season invitational 2016 opening ceremony, they kinda teased this champion I think? I remember one comment there saying that “This opening ceremony could tease a champion” and they kinda did after 7 years.
my new main... since he reminds me of simpler version of Invoker and I love playing skill dependent champs ... though his projectiles should be faster and his EW should go through minions otherwise he is dope.
we are very quickly going to 400 years guys
Hwei can cast the combo QWEER at once, I think Riot is cooking something.
😭😭
Cooking trash 😎
I always wondered if League would ever do an Invoker style character. I won't lie, I was not expecting it, but it is cool to see.
his E->W root has been bugged since release and does not root or do damage if they leave the circle even if the targeted missile hits them, please fix
Remember when champions had three abilities, a passive, and an ultimate?
No
No
No
Yes, and there's nothing wrong with changing it after a 10+ years
No
This champion is so overloaded. Xerath, brand, nami, karma, fiddle, renata all in one.
+Anivia ... in time, I bet they will remove everything that makes him interesting. The mana restore will be the first to go.
"This is the Hwei" really sold me
This gives Overloaded kit a whole new meaning
This is a lot to digest but id also argue its one of the most interesting and fun characters weve seen in awhile, definitely looking to try him out on release
Such a cool design, can't wait to try him as supp
totally looking forward to all the new Hwei x Brand bot lane content
Could you please give us the " Karthus ult " for each of his combos please? I would be very sad if I found myself in a situation where I need Hwei's assistance but cannot properly express my needs and desires for his most optimal karthus ult combo.
There are only two options for this champion, either he is totally imbalanced with these abilities, or he is nerfed so hard that he is not/hardly played. Another champion that is easily overloaded, Briar is being nerfed with every patch for a reason.
There simply has to be a maximum of what a champion can do.
Well...yes, but he also has lockouts. He can't do everything at every time
@@shadows_starbut he still has the ability to do everything, it doesn’t matter that he can’t do it all simultaneously
Riot literally said “how many abilities from different champions can we just put into one kit”
Hwei ult will haunt me in my dreams tonight
Invoker: *Has 10 Spells*
Hwei: *Hold my Beer*
They finally put Invoker in League
Played a couple of custom game with him and I am obsessed! As a mage main, I find his kit very fun. I think I already memorized his spell combo 😂 Even though there are many combos, I find it easy to track all 9 of them compared to Aphelios' kit.
This champion has some serious learning to use the skill.
the happy little accidents reference made me smile
200 years
Time to go get a college degree to play this champion, cause my 2 brain cells died at the end when he was explaining the possible combos.
It's not that hard
It really is easier than it looks. From what I've seen, you play him like an average poke mage with QQ, use WE for lane sustain and save the rest of your abilities for teamfights or disengage.
tbf it wasnt that bad, i actually understood majority of it
the gameplay i love and usualy dev are relyctant to make it.
I feel like hwei would be a HUGE fan of seraphine due to her colorful appearance
Similar to aphelios. The versatility is gonna give pros a field day
Then how viego could access to all third spell book of hwei if the only access to cancel spellbook ability is just pressing Ult to revert back for spellbook options 💀
The ult cancel is part of the spellbook. So once Viego in Hwei's body is inside a spellbook the ult becomes the cancel, and he can only use Heartbreaker when he's outside a spellbook
When Hwei chooses a spellbook it locks him out of ult, I assume it's the same
This is how I can tell you're bronze lmaoooooo 😅
All 3 spellbooks include an R to clear them, which is different from the actual R.
Love to see a new type or champion like this
Prepare to feed. A Lot!
But he’s also so much fun!
I love this champ, finally a cool mage with so much skill expression
Someone I can use after they took away asol's balls
there is so many HWEIs you can INVOKE his art. not sure if i used the word right.
I don’t know how yall gonna make him work on the rift, but I can’t wait 🥰
I was so worried that his ult would be like Bowser Jr.'s from Smash and it would affect the screen of the other team with a big painted X or something crazy.
I can totally see Riot struggle to balance this champion
or he gets over nerfed and gets thrown into a support role
ah yes my mid laners go 2-14 nice
finally a dope champ so cool this makes me wanna get back into the game
