I make my own tomato paste with a food mill, the Italian way. The skins and seeds are removed, and I let it ferment for 8 days. When I am ready to eat it, I cook them with my food.
Excellent coverage. All the times I read that cooked tomato foods like marinara or tomato paste proffered more lycopene, I thought that was '''once and done'''. I had no idea one was supposed to cook or reheat them again and consume it warm or hot.
I used to eat many tomatos a day when I was a kid and still eat one or two a day, but can eat well beyond ten if I do not stop my self because I am vary of my total daily carb intake as I'm on keto/low carb.
I appreciate the information but this is hard to imagine the practical usage. How do we determine how much is useful and how much is in paste or one grape tomato? Based on the presentation there seems to be enough data to ball park this for us in a practical sense. Also would like to know where/whatthe research comes from. Thanks.
Hello Doctor, I have been taking Ashwagandha + Vitamin B-Complex for two months.. Two days ago I had kidney pain and it turned out that there are kidney stones? Does Ashwagandha + Vitamin B-Complex have any effect on the kidneys?
What about powder from dehydrated tomatoes? Does the dehydration process increase bioavailability as does heat? Powdered tomato is often used to make DIY tomato paste. But it can be put into capsules as well and it will be highly concentrated. So is it the same as paste? Better? Worse?
Hi from England. I would be interested in the negative effects of aspartame as a sweetener in many snacks and diet sodas - can it cause arrhythmia, for example? Many thanks for the excellent channel.
@@MasterBott01 Dr. Gundry says remove the skin and don't eat the seeds. For example, you would peel a cucumber before eating it, and you you avoid eating the seeds inside the cucumber. Same idea with tomatoes, although removing the thin skin from a tomato is trickier. You could look for other TH-cam videos on how to do this.
Yes, cooking tomatoes will increase lycopene. Tomato paste is already heated during processing. You can reheat the tomato paste with some olive oil and add basil to increase absorption of lycopene. Hope that helps. Best, Dr. Jin
What about cytotoxin or lectins in tomatoes? Dr. Gundry says if you remove skin and seeds it lessens the lectins but I am unable to find much about tomatoes and cytotoxin. Maybe lectin is just another name for cytotoxin? In my findings it seems lycopene especially those from tomatoes can help heal cancer but you’ll still get the cytotoxin. Any thoughts on this?
What studies and what type of studies? Claiming this one compound has a profound effect in all these pathologies amounts to Snake oil salesmanship without equally profound evidence.
Many Hospital consultants recommend Lycopene as a worthwhile additive to anyone suffering an enlarged prostate , I use it myself and it does ease the problem tremendously…That’s my opinion for what it’s worth and I’m selling nothing nor a snake oil salesman…
One of the top 10 Dr channels on youtube.
I love the way this doctor teaches
He’s specific and spot on well done Doc

I've been making a point of eating more tomato sauces. Now I'll start heating them first.

Can you steam the tomatoes?
Excellent information. Great presentation.

Thank you doctor. Just what I needed to learn.

do you think its a good idea for taking as a supplement to reduce prostate cancer risk? thanks

Good explanation
Never heard of this.. interesting
I've read that tomatoes are problematic in arthritis
For some people yes due to tomatoes being a nightshade and containing lectins.
@@DrJinSung how do you counter lectins for tomatoes or in general? Thanks for the video. You provide good info and I like your presentation.

A lot of thanks Dr. Please can you tell about your opinion on DHEA?
Thanks again 👍
I have GERD , AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED NOT TO EAT THEM , BUT WITH SALAD OR TACO ITS FINE ,
is there lycoprene in tomato ketchup
❤❤
I avoid tomatoes since they are nightshades and create swelling of my joints. I’ll stick with grapefruit and watermelon
😂 Grapefruit and watermelon don't work for me over pasta. 🤣
My BHP has reacted very favourably to tomatoes. More than watermelon or papaya, though I eat them as well.
Why you tale that
Isn't canned tomato paste already "cooked" due to the canning process?

Will lycopene help with an an adrenal nodule?
WTF? You didn't really explain how much tomato (paste, etc) to eat to get meaningful benefits
I look a a ripe tomato , and I hear eat me !😊
Proofread much?

What is the absorption rate of boiled tomatoes??
Is lycopene bad for people that suffered from cellulitis? Does it irritate the skin?
Does the amount of Lycopene in a tomato increase as it ripens and gets redder?
Please update.
This video is supposed to be about tomatoes not Tomato supplements
Why use synthetic? Why not natural and why not a natural version that is much stronger...and it's free.
Dr. Sung did sort of negate the idea of using synthetic lycopene.
