      Kristelle Beauboeuf well, even gospel is done with the intention of making a $$ buck $$. So if they in that same ‘money making’ racket they going to produce songs that will sound good to the ear so people will buy their music, no different from the secular music business!!! We can’t have it both ways and criticize those believers who occasionally listen to secular music. Music, whether secular or Christian is basically done so the artist and everyone involved can earn a living from doing it. Nuttin wrong wit dat. We say Christian music is done for the glory of God, but it still gets marketed and promoted like secular music

    • @jogmas12

      Loriane well, when I’m in church listening to whomever is presenting and performing the music, even I don’t like the song or it’s melody or it sounds a bit campy if you will, I always tell myself, this is for God and his glory not for me, then I find myself singing along with them. You need to understand, music is an art form and with any type of art there going to be people who like it or dislike based on its artistic nature.

    Can Christian read secular books? How about secular TH-cam channels? Tv shows? I see that we can benefit from understanding the world. Gaining knowledge of the world helps us to go through this. And honestly, if we don't speak about music/tv/book which contains blasphemy or other obviously immoral content, I don't mind too much. If we keep in mind which and who is the Truth, and why we are here, I think we can't go wrong too much. If we stick to God and prayer, we can still do other things. Strong faith will not shake because of reading literature or watching some youtube. Even listening to non-Christian music. Understanding other views and ideas can help us to be more kind, learn about the world and ourselves, build character towards better. But during a fast, I find it extremely important not to fill oneself with youtube, tv and other things. Sometimes coming back to basics is needed, and fasting times are there for a reason. During these times, you should focus only on God and developing yourself, and forget about all worldly life. It helps to build faith, gives faith a base that will not be shaken easily.
    I would also like to read this as an answer to the question:
    Matthew 15:10-11: 10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” (NIV)

    • @sc-iu1tq
      @sc-iu1tq 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      But I agree Jon. If the material in any way distracts one from his Lord, one should immediately stop and get rid of all those things. For me, being politically active has been important for some time. I have been engaged in organizations that try to stop militarism and bring peace. I've done research for them and worked to get a world with lesser guns. It is not religious, it's secular things, but I do it because I don't want that anyone or anything created by Lord will be destroyed. I don't want the hate and controversy that guns and militarism promotes. Do you get what I mean? I read secular books to get better idea of the history or present day. But because I view them through my religious world view, it doesn't affect my faith - sometimes it even makes it stronger. I also work hard to be strong in prayer and fast, and this is why nothing in the secular world can make me change my beliefs.

    • @darthvader6533
      @darthvader6533 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@sc-iu1tq not to attack your beliefs, or make what you worked for irrelevant, but we need guns. Peace through strength is really the only option in this world. If the world was full of only good people, yes, but its not, and the bad guys dont want peace, if we lose our defense they will slaughter us like cattle. I don't know were you live, but here in the US we need our guns. The thing about war is demilitarization isn't the answer to peace, if a country has a massive military, others dont want to attack them. Speak softly and cary a big stick is really the onky peace this world will ever see. Peace is what we want, but it will not come about from getting rid of guns, just look at some of the contries that dont have guns, when the bad guy gets a gun(which they always will) the good guys have nothing to stop them with. Evil people will use anything to accomplish thier goal, England banned guns, they now have the highest knifing rating in the world. If you have a gun, but everyone else around you has a gun, your not going to want to attack anyone.

    If a Christian listening to secular music isn't okay. Then talking too or having non Christian friends is bad then too. I feel like if the music is making you re-think your faith in God then maybe it's a problem. I don't think there is a problem with it. Sure their are situations where it's obvious that's it wrong. Like if you listen to a group that claims things against God. I listen to some pretty heavy metal music and never once lost faith in our Lord.

    Sometimes I see biblical messages in music where the artist might not have intended them. My favorite song, Bridge Over Troubled Water, is the first person perspective of someone saying that they’re there for someone else. I think God could be easily plugged in there, because in many ways God is a bridge over troubled water for us. Take this with caution, however, because sometimes this isn’t fully applicable

I am not going to push Christian music on anyone, that will only chase them away from God. Also, I actually enjoy getting something more out of the original artist's intention. I don't play anything with a bad meaning, just fun music you could dance to. There is nothing wrong with Christians listening to secular music, it is the intention and the style that matters.

      Mankind is created in the image of God. Also “heaven” is just the presence of God. The reason there is a heaven and earth now is because of the separation. There may very well be animals when things are restored. But animals today do not follow laws and are creatures of instinct. They were created for us as food and pets and enjoyment. Like the birds singing in nature all created just for us and the varieties of nuts and fruits and vegetables etc really shows how much God loves us. He created this world just for us and that is amazing. Please study and don’t assume all “Christian” groups are pleasing to God because the Bible really warns against division. I love to study and answer questions. All questions are answered with Gods word and what I think means very little. Bibleauthority777@yahoo.com

      @alyssamayle4088 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@austinwillcut4919 it's good that you listen to Christian music and God probably did do that but the music you listen to is not make you a better Christian than someone else. It all depends on your motives. Christians always say to watch out for all music because you don't know anything about the artist who made it. But how do we know that people who created Christian music also love God??

    • @austinwillcut4919
      @austinwillcut4919 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alyssamayle4088 I never said it would make you a better Christian but it definitely makes you a more focused one. Focusing on worldly music instead of spiritual/religious music doesn't help you grow into a mature Christian, we are here to live for Christ and nothing else..... the world is secondary. The fruit you bear from the Holy Spirit is what determines the inner change and regeneration from Salvation, not the music you listen to but religious music does enhance your walk with Christ..... it's all part of the Church(Body of Christ). Me personally I've just seen better results with Christian music over secular but that's just me. If I do listen to some secular it's very selective and I certainly don't listen to modern day mainstream..... too corrupted with Illuminati agenda(watch a lot of these pop videos nowadays like Katy Perry, it's loaded with satanic imagery). "But how do we know that people who created Christian music also love God?".... simple: they're saved Christians who serve Jesus, most secular artists aren't and have sold out to Satan/the Illuminati for fame and will be a heavy influence on mainstream culture/youth. Christian music is not popular in the secular mainstream world or with most people including some Christians lol and is being ignored.... hmm, I wonder why? Secular pushes worldliness on the masses and tries to keep focus on ourselves instead of God's Kingdom in Heaven, Christian music keeps everything God focused and putting all our treasures in Heaven and not this temporary world..... the differences are night and day. Secular music is mostly entertainment, Christian is worship and all about praising the Lord.... I don't see the secular world doing that. When's the last time you heard Casting Crowns Only Jesus playing in a grocery store or mall while you're shopping? I sure haven't. I'm sure you've heard plenty of Katy Perry or Beyoncé/Miley Cyrus/Ariana Grande/Taylor Swift/Britney Spears/Lady Gaga playing in stores..... all are Illuminati sell outs as well and being pushed on the youth/adults with no sign of Jesus anywhere. Do you see what's going on here? If Christian artists didn't love God they wouldn't have done Christian music in the first place and could've easily taken their talents and sold out to the mainstream secular music world and gain the whole world..... yet they didn't. Like Jesus, they resisted the Devil's offer. Sorry for the long post but It takes time to explain all this.

And I just recently started learning about the illuminati, so I know what you mean. But some Christians say don't even listen to some of the new Christian music we have today because people are saying even though its about God it still sounds too much like secular music. Basically as he said you choose your influences and by your influences you are shaped and others are shaped. I like metal and rock music- but I find that some rock songs have vulgarities in them, anger, etc. And its not that I shouldn't listen to that music as God says we are allowed to have a hobby or something that makes us distinct- we have freedom to choose what we want. I moved from listening to a lot of music for just entertainment purposes- because it sounds good; to now listening and liking an artist because their lyricism and message is good. All secular rock and metal is not bad just like any genre one needs to be critical about the bands you listen to. If song sounds like something bad, or misleading don't welcome it into your life. You wouldn't want to stray from the path he set out for us. He wants us to build a relationship with him, wants us to be selfless and also share his love for others. So we need to choose our music to align with his goals for us. But again he gives us right to choose our own path, he trusts that we will do the right thing because gods love is selfless.

    Is it Okay for a Christian Believer
    to Listen to Secular Music?
    by David J. Stewart | May 2017
    1st Corinthians 7:29, “But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none... And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.”
    Yes, I do believe that it is acceptable to the Lord for believers to listen to some secular music. As Christian believers, we are still a part of the world around us. Most of my web visitors were also raised up in our American culture. I recognize three types of music:
    RELIGIOUS
    SECULAR
    WORLDLY
    Most Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) is just religious garbage. So you could further categorize between religious verses Christian music if you wanted. But I'll just call it all “religious” music for this article, as our focus is on secular music.
    Not all secular music is bad. For example: George Strait sings some great songs, like “I Saw God Today.” The song is about his daughter being born, and he sees God in the gift of life. It's a beautiful song. But that doesn't mean I approve of all of Mr. Strait's music, such as his bad song, “Overnight Male” or his adulterous song “Seashores Of Old Mexico.” These songs promote sexual immorality. These are worldly songs. These are very different than George's song “I Saw God Today.” Do you see the difference? So, yes, I do think it is acceptable for a Christian to listen to secular music, but should abstain from worldly music.
    James Taylor's music is beautiful. I think it is acceptable to hear songs like “How Sweet It Is” and “You've Got A Friend.” I like Don William's song “I Believe In You.” Examples of worldly music would be Rod Stewart's “Do You Think I'm Sexy” and Madonna's “Like A Virgin,” which openly promote sexual immorality.
    Let me ask you a question? Is it sinful to eat in a restaurant that sells liquor? Be careful before you answer, because if you shop at K-mart you are supporting the sale of booze. If you buy gas at the local fuel station, you are helping keep a business open that sells cigarettes to ruin people's health. Fuel stations also sell lottery tickets, which support sinful gambling schemes. The whole concept of gambling to get rich is sinful. Fuel stations sell condoms, to help fornicators and adulterers. When we really get down to the nitty-gritty, we are all hypocrites to some degree, who all help support evil in one form or another. How could we not do so, when we are a part of a degenerate American culture? So be careful before you condemn a fellow believer for listening to secular music. If you use and support the modern Bible perversions, you are committing horrible wickedness, thousands of times worse than listening to AC/DC or Van Halen.
    James 4:4, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” We are warned in James 4:4 that to be a friend of the world is to become God's enemy. So would it be okay to listen to secular music? Yes, I believe so. I think there is a vast difference between listening to proper secular music verses driving a beer truck, listening to “Highway To Hell” by AC/DC, or working in an abortion clinic. The “world” refers to the masses of humanity who have rejected Jesus Christ, and have aligned themselves and their careers with the coming man of sin, the Beast, called Antichrist. Nearly all mainstream music has occult imagery employed by Luciferians to let everyone know Satan is behind it all, influencing the masses of humanity to go along to get along. This, I believe, is what the Bible means in Daniel 8:25, when it prophesies that “by PEACE” the Antichrist “shall destroy many.” Lucifer is recruiting billions of people to support his forming New World Order, which will ultimately bring the destruction of the world.
    Does this mean you're God's enemy because you listen to secular music? I think not. Some Christians have stronger views than others on this matter. Some hypocritical religious snobs will condemn other believers for listening to secular music, but those same highbrow churchgoing believers have no problem using dozens of different Bible versions each Sunday in their church, confusing the congregation week-after-week. Satan is delighted, to say the least. I don't think God considers me an evildoer for listening to “The Good Stuff” by Kenny Chesney, or my favorite TV theme song “Welcome Back Kotter.” God gave us music to enjoy. There is a spirit to everything, whether it be a book, a song, a movie, a website, an organization, a church, a person, et cetera. Each song must be considered and judged individually, as to whether or not it is acceptable. I do not think God gets mad at one of His children for listening to “You Saw Me Crying In The Chapel” sang by Elvis Presley, even though Elvis himself lived a wasted life of sin and wickedness. We ALL allow certain things in our life that other believers may not approve of, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there is anything wrong with it. Romans 14:22, “Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.”
    We must be careful about condemning others. If you think The Beach Boys are evil, then don't listen to them. Granted, The Beach Boys are part of the world's system. They did not honor God with their musical careers. Yet, I do not think is it wrong to listen to “God Only Knows” or “Don't Worry Baby” by The Beach Boys. These are secular songs, not so much worldly. I preach again these groups to expose the true nature of these bands, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I am against listening to some of their music. You just need to know whose side they're all on, Satan's. I rip on Brian Wilson, because in past interviews he has said that he isn't sure there is a God, but yet he still sings about God. Kind of strange, huh? Still, I like some of their songs. You just need to know the facts, to be informed.
    The Scriptures teach us not to condemn anyone...
    Matthew 7:1-5, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.”
    Let me say, kindly, that no one has any Biblical right to point their wicked finger of judgment at others. If you only like religious quartet music, then knock your socks off. I'd go nuts if all I heard was religious music. I like singing hymns on Sunday at church. I enjoy the depth of theological meaning in the old hymns. But I like hearing Hawaiian, Country and other secular music during the week. I like many secular songs. I'm not as conservative when it comes to music as are some believers. I like all kinds of music, but stay away from heavy metal and music that promotes an evil spirit. I am a hobbyist musician and love all kinds of music. I think as believers we need to discern between music that is secular verses worldly.
    Also, we need to discern between groups that are serving the Devil verses listening to some of their acceptable songs. Some people would argue that to listen to any of their songs means supporting the whole caboodle. I don't think so. I love the song “Til There Was You” by The Beatles. Does that mean that I support the Beatles? Never! They are of the Devil. Churches ought not play their music, because then the church would be sponsoring it. But if you personally want to listen to “Til There Was You” in your backyard at a barbeque, I do not think it is sinful. Do you see the difference? Dr. John R. Rice (1895-1980) used to read Zane Grey (1872-1939) novels. But Zane Grey was an adulterous heathen involved in Hollywood. Does that mean Dr. Rice endorsed everything about Zane Grey? Of course not. Dr. Rice just enjoyed reading western novels.
    Clearly, “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC and “Running With The Devil” by Van Halen are of the Devil. No Christian should listen to these kinds of songs. Nothing AC/DC or Van Halen sings is acceptable. Contrawise, I also really don't care for church music myself. I like instrumentation and steel guitars, because I play them. I like a bass and some drums. Music is a passion for me, which I continually thank God for enabling me to do. Please don't misunderstand, I love singing at church, and harmonizing while singing; but given the choice, I'd rather hear Jerry Byrd playing his album “On The Shores Of Waikiki” on his steel guitar any day! That's just me.

    I'm sorry but it's hard for me I'm addicted to oldies. I hate today's generation of music. But I grew up listening to 70s and 80s music. Breaking away from oldies is a struggle for me. I do listen to a lot of worship and Christian music but when I am stressed out or need something upbeat oldies is my go to. The times back then were much better and the music and lyrics back then had more meaning compared to today's music. Pray for me.

    That point about the music in the car is simply being considerate. Like there is music that is ok to share and personal music. For me at least, a lot of my music choices are embarassing, so I make decoy playlists if I have to play music out loud.

    Interesting point of thinking of the spiritual health of others. What I listen to I think it's mostly not too bad lol. But I do point out when it's not right. I've tried to share my music on the aux cord but it never worked before lol. This was hard to listen to I like music and performance so much. 🙏💞
