This is my favorite Vector in the mall, & I love seeing that it's still original. I'd love to make a video about this fancy looking Macy's. Trust me, I'll tell you that all they did was take down & put up the Castner-Knott, Proffitt's, Hecht's, & Macy's letters. This store was an original anchor as with Dillard's & the fmr. Sears, but it was a "Castner-Knott" back when the mall opened in 1991. Castner-Knott was a division of Mercantile Stores & a local store alongside Cain-Sloan (a chain purchased by Dillard's in 1987, 4 years before the mall was built). JCPenney was built in 1993, & the upscale Parisian joined the mall in 1994 as a fifth anchor store. It's sign was changed for the first time in the late '90s (1998 to be exact) as Dillard's acquired Mercantile Stores (including Castner-Knott) & already had a presence in Nashville, so this store became Proffitt's along with 4 others in Middle Tennessee & 10 elsewhere across the country. After a short stint (in 2001), Proffitt's left & Hecht's moved in as Saks, Inc. sold a total of 9 stores (5 in Nashville, 2 in Baton Rouge, & 1 each in Lafayette & Orlando) to May Company. It would rebrand once more in the mid 2000s (2006), as Federated took over May Company & converted all of their nameplates (such as Hecht's) under the Macy's banner. Anyways, CoolSprings Galleria has nicer skylights than most other U.S. malls.
