- (10-21-2013) On my way back from Texas I stopped by here to find the elevators being modded. At the time 4 were modded and one was original. Sorry for the busy ride but enjoy seeing the new and old elevators in the same video

Awesome! This kinda reminds me of what I came across at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs back in September. They had 70's Dover high hydraulics in banks of two in one of the hotel's many buildings. One elevator on each bank was in service; the other elevator was out of service and there were ThyssenKrupp technicians working on them. Filming them was a hassle, but I eventually got good takes as I knew there would be no second chance to film them.
As of May 2014, the whole exterior of the building has been remodeled to resemble the other buildings and the elevators have been extensively modded, but the mirrors from the 70's Dovers remain.

I agree but at least they went with what appears to be Innovation Prestige not the boring Universal package.
I like Universal better because the whole button lights up and they are not that easy to press (trust me, I'm telling the truth because I've ridden a Kone elevator on my way back from Florida on August 3rd of this summer and it had Innovation Universal and it was hydraulic). I would have gone with Bruiser, NEMA 4X or Premier anyway. I still would have preferred the old Dovers, but Kone hasn't let me down yet, it's the Kone mockers!

I was just in Nashville a few days ago!
That remaining Dover elevator got modernized, no more Dovers with the TK mod there as I saw the video made by NW Indiana Elevators
If you ever have a chance to come out to Las Vegas, check out the Otis Scenic elevator at the LVH Hotel & Casino. It is a beauty.

Honestly, with the amount of elevators and floors, they really should have installed Destination Dispatch. Also that floor passing beep is really annoying.

Good thing is you're not the only elevator photographer against Kone. I love Kone, and don't see anything wrong with their elevators. Most of the time it's maintenance and other times it's due to the quality of the overall structure of the building which makes the EcoDisc suck. I adore this floor passing chime the most out of any Kone floor passing chime. It would have been even cooler if Kone modernized them into POLARIS but then again it's the hotel's decision and building contractor's decision to mod them that way.

It was nice!
It was a very rare voice. This Marriott replaced it with a different voice. There are only three elevators I know that have this voice. These include Chatfield Senior High School, Columbine High School, and Dakota Ridge High School.
I have to admit I live here in town and really am confused as all get out with the button placement. Really weird, LOL
These elevators were modded before by ThyssenKrupp and then they get modded again by Kone. I remember seeing a video of these elevators from 2000 or 2001 when they had the original Dover fixtures.
the mod in early 2000s was simply a slap on.

I live in Nashville, any time I'm near this building downtown walking around, I ride the elevator, its my favorite one in the city due to the crazy views.
Although I will say the button placement on this elevator sucks. 1-5 have a bunch of meeting rooms, bars, pool, parking garage etc The buttons are way too low for you to read the text next to them, then the text is an awful font/color where you can't read it anyways. They need a directory at eye level explaining what's on the first 5 floors.
And this hotel has been completely remodeled since this video was taken. I was there in fall 2018 and they had a big temp wall up in the lobby, but all their meeting space down on the first floor and two sub-basements was remodeled, the old convention center attached to the hotel was completely torn down and they were pouring foundations for the new building going up in its place at 5th/Broadway and 5th/Commerce. I'm also certain there are a couple more towers in that view from the elevator today vs in 2014 when this was taken, especially if you look to the right, you can see a couple parking lots, now they have towers there.

I have a mod in progress video it's vector --> Crappy generic innovation buttons! The mod was done well and believe it or not THE FIXTURES WERE ADA COMPLIENT!!! the mod was done by Kone they run faster and smoother but the fixtures could've been kept there!!! (But looking back I remember the technician telling me they make new parts with the plastic or scrapping them to donate or something.)

Kone MonoSpace-equivelent for this mod ain't a good choice. MiniSpace would have been better.
It's weird that some do not follow the logic of the buyer of the original company, that it should be the buying company responsible for the maintenance of the original elevator. Dover - TK, Montgomery- Kone, and Westinghouse - Schindler.
Why were they modding these? The original Dover controller didn't seem to have any issues.

they've updated the elevators and floors if you go my channel you can see it later on in the video that actually updated the elevators
Seriously, the 660 FPM speed was overkill for a hotel around 330 FT tall. A speed of around 450 FPM would have been far better ! Nevertheless, KONE did a totally amazing job on this mod. Hornrt disc lifts give you the illusion of flying at 0G's
I rode a Thyssenkrupp Grife Export from my country with typing buttons,it's 500FPM until floor 34

Not a bad mod but bad button layout. This is easy for my kids to push the buttons.
My question is, why does the voice sound different than it used to today? Was it a software upgrade on every KONE elevator like this?

I agree. Damn! You're actually one of the very few elevator photographers in America who doesn't make a mockery out of Kone. I like their EcoDiscs due to the motor sound and their EcoMods due to the floor passing chime and the awesome Innovation and their own buttons. It would have been cooler if Kone began using EPCO and ADAMS buttons as well on their EcoMods.
