Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Soundtrack - 03. At Wit's End

- At Wit's End, a lengthy suite, begins with the first appearance of the second main theme of the movie, commonly referred to as the "love theme." (Zimmer himself stated that, even though this is popularly considered a "love theme," it is in fact "a theme for the whole movie," as inspired by traditional swashbuckling scores.) Only the A and B sections of the theme are stated here, the A section on horn and the B section in a grand orchestral statement at 3:10. This is followed by a statement of Davy Jones' theme, first on music box (with Love Theme A playing over the top), then explosively on organ. The last few minutes of the cue are action material for when the ship falls off the edge of the world, again featuring the A and B sections, and ending with a new theme for the concept of "world's end".

5:18 I swear, Davy Jones theme has such a great tragic feel to it. A touch of anger, loss and suffering to help define such a great villain. I'd say Davy Jones is my second favorite character in the whole series, if not best villain of the series.

@@chrisvanschothorst8075 Mine is Jack Sparrow in parts 1-3, when he was still smart in a way. He was very weird and probably crazy but also an amazing pirate that through his shenanigans knew exactly what he was doing.
In parts 4 and 5 they butchered his character into a bumbling, drunk idiot. I like to pretend there are only 3 movies because the story already has an amazing ending in it.
@@DS-mi9ru Watch 4th film again. It does not stack up to the trilogy but it is a good standalone film and Jack is definitely in character in the 4th film. The 5th film is where the new writers came in and had no clue how to write Jack's character.

I like the films' juxtaposition of the Age of Enlightenment with legends and the struggle they show between Mankind and legends of the "old" world of myth.
3:10-3:50 gives me feels for some reason. It's just so powerful and sad to me and other things combined. Then again, most Hans Zimmer soundtracks make me feel a lot of things because of the pure beauty of it. So I'm not surprised.

The Theme of Davy Jones is a tale that speaks to those with broken hearts and torn-up dreams. The Calypso in my life was far more beautiful and just as cruel. And yet, a part of my heart still belongs to her.
Sad..and yet those things make us stronger...and kinder.

If there is any people here that write a lot, you'll understand the problem of finding something good to listen while writing? This (and the whole soundtrack) is just perfect. For everything; for drama, for romance, for angst and for fluff. I love Hans Zimmer's soundtracks.
I often come here for inspiration. I come here and listen to this soundtrack for any and every reason because of its tremendous beauty and it helps me focus more when I'm writing papers and doing homework. I love all of Hans Zimmer's soundtracks but the Pirates of the Caribbean ones are my favorites.

Easily, easily, easily the best piece of music in the franchise. Makes the entire story of Davy Jones so much more enthralling and emotional, as well as the quest of Barbosa, Will, Elizabeth and the others to save "witty Jack". Absolute masterpiece
