Since this is going to be an electric harley, it should have some sound. I recommend the harley sound from South Park. Set it up so that it gets louder the more throttle that you give it. I think this would finish the build off very nicely. Safety first!

There is, nor will there ever be such a thing as a REAL 'EV Harley Davidson'. There is no reason to buy a Harley if the motor's not there. None. The motor IS Harley Davidson.

Yeah,I'm thinking about the same thing, except the sound were from a plastic sports card hits the rim.
Something like turbospoke thingy. A truly cutting edge high tech thingy for a high tech channel like this, trust me on this one uncle Rich.
So you can save some power for extra mileage or use them on a 72v vibrator in case of the emergency, and bump up the sports cards' value on the market while you go. That's killing several birds with one stone I'd say.
This is about to be the fastest accelerating Harley in existence. It'll be able to leave oil trails faster than ever before.

Erm… The V Rod could hit low 11 quarter miles stock. The current 114ci bikes are no slouches either. Acceleration hasn’t been an issue with Harley’s for a while now… It’s just corners and the need to stop that they struggle with.

Why on earth has this not been picked up as a Netflix show? They’ve had other car shows on, I.e. Rust Valley Restorers… 1 million+ TH-cam subscribers… with a small budget, could be something that would catch on

You should add a oil tank with a valve so when you park you can crack it open and leak a little oil just to keep up with tradition

@@ben3989 EVs won’t last very long I give them another 5 years before they realize how much of an inconvenience and how bad they are in general.
Rich Rich Rich-The chain meets the transmission at a pivot point. The pivot point keeps the chain tight while the swing arm swings. You can’t change that optimal pivot point, you can match it with a jack shaft but the exact point the transmission was is optimal otherwise the chain will loosen and tighten as you hit bumps.

Exciting progress! Don't forget that chain will need stripping of grease and properly lubricating. The current grease is just for storage/corrosion prevention
Ehhh not absolutely. I usually leave it there for like 20-30 km it turns light when warmed up by friction and drips. And then wipe apply actual chain oil. Less harsh than using chain cleaning fluid.

Just make a stepped key. We do it all the time with shaft-drive boat props. Never had a failure. Not a big job at all.

you converting a Harley is one of the most sensible things I've seen in awhile, hehe...
you should put a small oil reservoir you can put old used oil in, and an old well oil dripper so it just very slowly leaks oil to maintain the authenticity of the Harley.

Also, I believe small kids electric vehicles (power wheels) sometimes have a plastic cover that is in the shape of a motor. It might not be big enough but I'm sure there are bigger ones like that out there.

For the sprocket, you need a stepped key (which is a large key and a belt sander...). Was there no way to keep the belt, though?

a simple adapter bushing would mate the transmission sprocket to the elec motor shaft, chains are noisy and it's an HD so maybe?
@@esahg5421 a belt drive is completely a user preference, better for some and not for others. To get the correct ratio, the chain is more cost effective and far easier to nail down, if I decided that I wanted a higher top speed, I'm extremely limited in options for belt drive esp for the rear sprocket, not to mention the belts themselves. If I was ok sticking with one ratio and keeping the noise down, then belt is fine.

Rich is always doing what I want to do when I get the extra money. Electric bagger is something that I’m definitely doing; I like that he didn’t use a hub motor. The unsprung weight won’t be an issue with a mid motor.

At 16:17 & 19:37 you should paint the inside of your gas can with Rhino Lining so when you hook up your power wires to the speed controller you don't actually touch something or if it comes loose it doesn't vibrate "off" and hit the inn side top of the gas can AND SHORT EVERYTHING "BRAKING YOUR WORK". Or accidentally hurt anybody. And change the washers you used on the back tire there not balanced right on the concaved side of the sprocket thay can brake not being level or true ,siting on the sprocket.

You should still have a 12v battery. The same reason they keep them in cars. So you can power lights etc if the main battery is flat

Yup. It doesn't need to be lead-acid, though since it doesn't need tonceank a starter. A small lithium battery would do the job.
