Hi, just a suggestion but you don't need the cones with the adapter, just let it sit on the shaft by itself. Thanks for posting the video :-)

very good video, I have ordered all the equipment for a normal tire change and balance then it occurred to me the rear wheel will not work on a basic balancer. This video showed me what I needed in a clear and concise way. It amazes me how few videos are out there for DIY stuff for your BMW ( who is hoarding this info? RHAAAA!) I had a KLR before and there was 100 good videos for everything so wandering lost in the desert is new for me. Thanks again!

Many BMW people have experience but to shoot and edit a video makes the work take twice as long.

Adam, thanks for the video of the Marc Parnes setup. As a new boxer owner, this is what I needed. Thanks from New Mexico Boondocker on ADVrider.

next time... red dot on tire is where the valve stem should be. You may have an easier time balancing the tire

(Just an observation) The red dot on the tire should be at the tire valve. The tires are pretested and the dot is the lightest part of the tire. It might save you about $0.10 in tire weights. ;-)

Great tip! Looks like I'll fix this!

It looks like the "shaft" is a slip fit into the "adapter" in which case that cone at 1:22 is unnecessary. Not bad, I think I'll turn an adapter on my lathe.

'13 R1200GS LC w spoked wheel: Glad to see you do it with the labels off. If the bike has tire pressure monitoring, much of the OEM weights on the rim will be opposite the tire valve to offset the tire pressure monitor. If the rim has a rim lock, much weight will be needed opposite that unless you use two equal rim locks opposite each other. Modern quality tires will need some small adjustments to the large mass used to balance TPM or rim lock. If you are really anal and want to check the set up (tooling error): after achieving a near perfect balance, unhook the wheel from the adapter and spin wheel on adapter 180 degrees and relock to the wheel and retest all the while leaving the shaft pinched to the adapter (aligned). If something is bent or crooked . . . it won't be well balanced any more ( and the avg of the two will be the perfect balance). Experience gained balancing Titanium test tube centrifuge "rotors" that spin up to 80,000 RPMs Spec was less than 5 gm inches of unbalance or 1/5 the weight of nickel at 5 inches from the axel.

What length shaft did you go with. I'm wondering if the 12" would cover most wheels?

Did you have to buy a new rear wheel Adam?

Not sure yet. Having Woody's inspect both wheels and true / re-lace them.
