Thanks for the video, I installed that AA DP on my 2020. 1.5 hrs start to finish and no check engine light. It made a real big difference in sound.

Damn! Installing downpipe on 2022 m340i. I have 2021 m340i with B58TU, I bought the same downpipe but Im so reluctant to install it, Im so dumb to buy it. I didnt know Im gonna lose my warranty. Thank you for showing us how to install it DIY. Mad respect to you putting downpipe under full warranty car.

Great video, thank you for sharing. For a Bmw M440 2023 i need 1 or 2 downpipes? Do you recommend catless or catted? In terms of hp gain and compatibility….
When reinstalling leave the o2 sensors off, feed down pipe from the top and “hang it” on the two studs. Snug up v-band then slip mid pipe. You can get to both o2 sensors with down pipe fully installed. Just my 2 cents in making the install easier. Nice car!

Nice tutorial. It's easier to do than an E46! BMW thought that many people would change their downpipe themselves! Is a remap is mandatory to avoid check engine light?

The ease of changeout is a a factor of added clearance which they needed to cool the engine compartment to improve engine /plastic parts life. That's what I understand. Bonus! Easy to change out the downpipe!
Great lighting and editing! I have a 2018 540i that I want to do this on, but I don't want much more noise. Was your car a little rumbly before the install? I wonder if the 5 series is a little quieter before and after.
it will be louder and if you do have burble it will be more strong😁. I think u can compare it to a resonator delete

I did it on my own for my first time on a b58 and used on the decat downpipe new gasket but the side that is on the turbo it smoked a little bit and stopped now i did 300 km with tune and there is nothing everything looks good my question is did i forgot something or does it need a gasket to on the turbo it self and one on the downpipe and then mount the downpipe or is it all good

I've been able to get everything done except connect the new AA DP to the midpipe. I cannot for the life of me get it to fit into the pre-existing midpipe. The v-band clamp is completely loose too... Do you have any tips on fitting it in?

Nope, never did after 2K miles. Guaranteed no check engine light. I do know that some people have experienced it, but they would warrantee that and replace.

I have a similar setup, with an AWE catback exhaust. Which tune are you thinking about? I’m on the fence with carbahn, BM3, or Ecutek… I’m in Ohio also, so if you know of a good tuner fill me in!

Do you *have* to tune the car after installing a DP? I know the AA DP won't throw a CEL, I'm just wondering if I can install it without tuning it.
You don’t have to tune it, but when you do tune, it will bring out the benefit with using the downpipe

If you’re going to tune it, makes more sense to go go with VRSF 200 cell DP for $500 and code off the CEL. Way better flow and sound for 1/3 of the price.

It will increase some, but need a tune to really make it shine

Does this void the warranty? Are there logs they can point to to prove it? If you remove it and put the stock one on, will they still now from the data logs?
This doesn’t throw a CEL period so no logs that “something has been messed with” since it’s a 400 high flow cat.
The part has to be at fault to void a warranty which would be the downpipe warranty part not everything else. It’s a simple install, so worst case scenario you could always swap out to the stock one if you’re having any kind of engine or turbo warranty issues.

Why not go with the catless downpipe? Is it because you are a super follow the rules, by the book, straight laced, clean cut type guy? :D
Is it supposed smell like gas when you go with dp with no cats? Did mine on n54 and it smells bad I can smell it thru the vents. And it sounds terrible like if there is a leak. Any way to tell if there is a leak ?
Correct, if you remove the cat then you’ll get all the exhaust gas fumes. High flow catted like this will have a SLIGHT smell but it’s noting like catless

I losened the v clamp bolt a lot but the clamp is still so tight
Might be stuck a little bit - could try a thick flat head to try to get it to pop loose
Remove nut and bolt altogether.

I have to ask as i have been stumped trying to figure out what differentiates a high quality down pipe from an inferior one. The prices range from $450 up to $2300. Can anyone explain the differences? I want to go with a catted version.

They are sure awesome and I use them weekly for stuff! They have locking points on each side like a jack stand that you lower it down to lock into place. I had my 335i up in that locking position for 3 months last year and always very solid 👍🏻

Depends how high the ramp is, but I think you could do it. Just will be tight pulling it out and then putting the new one back in
ssems to me that this is a fools errand because upgrading the downpipe should serve 2 purposes 1 is flow which is obviously an improvement the 2nd however removes the catslyst so that when your using things like antilag and sending raw fuel into the exhaust you dont make excessive amounts of heat which with a cat your going to do. heat way beyond what the car is designed to handle safely. so this may look like a win win and you wont have problems with the o2 sensor over time its going to cause far bigger problems than a simple o2 sensor trouble code. heat is what ages a car faster than anything. just look at any car with all highway miles versus one that has miles in stop and go traffic.
The fact that shops want 800 for this is insane.
