This is amazing ,I've had a hip resurface op 6 months ago and this is fantastic at explaining how these muscles work . I could listen to this guy all day 10/10
The only one person who makes anatomy less boring to learn. Sir I'd really appreciate if you also discuss major clinical problems Long with the muscles origin, insertion, blood supply, nerve invervation and action. I just love the way you explain things. Much respect!
Muaz Ahmed I am a retired RN, but love human anatomy lectures. It is very interesting that I seem to learn easily from you. I went to nursing school at age 38 and loved the classes and lectures. I miss that sometimes and look lectures for refreshment of my knowledge.
37 year old woman trying to get into the healthiest state I can. This video answered all of my questions about this section of the body. I have a degenerative (genetic) joint disorder and suspected my pain was sciatica. It could possibly be weakness in these areas you discussed here. Very informative. I will be working to strengthen these areas now that I know what to target. Thank you isn't enough to show my gratitude for such a great demonstration you have blessed us with here. I took anatomy/physiology in school and loved my studies. Our bodies truly are smart machines and you are a wonderful teacher!!
Too much gluteal muscles will make you go crazy on opposite genders; because the bundle of fibers are degenerated to produce a pair of cheeks behind. That's why we sometimes couldn't properly relax, or calm our nerves down, so we walk fast in paces then you are attracted by a man if you are a lady, and vice versa.
As a yoga practitioner and teacher, I am obsessed with anatomy and the biomechanics of movement. Your clips are fantastic; thank you for making them. It’s a completely different thing to look at a picture/drawing in a book or app and watching you take apart your “muscle man”. And yes, a cuppa is always an excellent choice :)
Thank you so very much Sam. I was born without a "hip roof" (not sure on the medical terminology). Had my first operation at age 2yrs and last one age 17yrs and was told I will never be able to move my legs greater than 90 degree apart. I never really had problems with my hip since then except for recently at the age 37yrs. The doctor that time told me I will have to exercise my legs for the rest of my life and I have struggled with keeping to that the last 1.6yrs and started getting hip pains and walking (without realizing) with my one foot turned outwards. When did the standing exercise now I immediately leaned to the one side where on my other side I was standing strong. I always had this uneducated thought my pain has to do with my actual bone and not really being able to do anything about it. I now see and understand why the doctor said what he did and have hope that I can train my Gluteous minimus and medium to become stronger so I can walk balanced again.
I've been suffering for ages trying to learn this stuff and then I find your vids and you make it so simple and memorable and funny. Brilliant teech! thank u :)
Thank you I've suferd pain in my gluteus for 30 years no Dr had educationl of this subject. Didn't teach me a thing Now I can make more spasific excercizes
Very, VERY helpful, especially since I had hip replacement surgery (anterolateral) 2 years ago and a walking/hip problem since. My surgeon said "everything looks fine and I just need to stretch". Ends up I was doing "swinging gait" (I noticed) AND my non-surgical leg is a bit shorter than the operative leg. It took another surgeon (and months of walking/exercise problems) to diagnose gluteus medium/minimus issues, swinging gait and shorter leg. Shoe lift (1/4"), exercises and time will hopefully correct these issues. Thanks so much!!!
I'm currently suffering from glute fatigue after overdoing my exercises after having an L4 bulging disc and the symptoms are similar. I was confused because I would feel good and then feel worse and I thought it was still my back issue. Found out this morning that I've been "killing myself with kindness" doing too much. My physio explained it to me really well but this video definitely provided more knowledge. Thank you.
I guess I learn better with multimedia. Your details are comprehensible for me as a layman. You combine anatomy with function. My curiosity is fueled by my need to develop my age-enfeebled and illness enfeebled movement abilities. Various images work but seeing the structures helps too.
This video was so helpful in understanding what was happening inside my hip. I got my operation this week partly because I was able to tell my doctor how it felt and how it was acting. Thank you so much!
Am a pretty advanced level physio and just wanted to say kudos for your presentation style and content. Great approach and interesting content, I wish that so many moons ago my lecturers and teachers were similar, would have been more enjoyable. Only with thorough knowledge of anatomy can you put human function into perspective and understand pathology. Your video would definitely help learning! Good work mate.
I have an acquaintance that walks like this and so this makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t realized what the problem was but now I do! Thank you for the wonderful explanation! You are a fantastic teacher thank you again.
you all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any help you can give me
OMG thank you. I'm not an anatomy student but have given one sided glute activation and strength exercises by my osteo to correct imbalances that are affecting my scj. I was just researching why because that's what I do. You've just described my gait swing that I was trying to explain ❤️🙏
I've been suffering with glute medius for a while, nobody has explained it to me like this so amazing, just need to figure out how to strengthen and fix it, love the video's 🙏❤️❤️
Great video. I have a kinesiology test this Monday, and this explains so much, including when I observe people with the different forms of swinging gates. Things that make you say Hmmm.
i got prolapsed disc at L3/4 about 18 months ago so i have to stretch whole bottom half of body every few hours 24/7. this helps to show what muscles are involved.
Thank you so much for your videos. I have been using all your videos for my Anatomy and Physiology class and they really help. I greatly appreciate you.
After hours of searching and almost paying for KenHub, I came across your videos. THANK YOU for explaining it so well. I'm just starting to study for personal training and it has been difficult to imagine movement with just a textbook. I look forward to watching more videos and learning everything i can! :)
You remind me of Hugh Laurie of the American TV Show, House. Very entertaining but still stays in point with subject Thank you so much. I may just survive this subject and get certified! ❤️
Accidentally dropped by......oh my! I saw a c.8 year old boy walking oddly yesterday. Initially, I thought he was just playing about but observed he couldn't step properly. Your vid explains and names the conditions. I'm shocked to be informed so quickly.
you are awesome - thank you so much! Actually I was wondering the whole time about the trendelenburg sign, and in the back of my head I thought: I'm gonna watch sam webster's video later, he'll probably explain it - and guess what: for the first time i finally understand why the hip is lowered on the contralateral side. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!!
Would you be able to compose a new series specifically for use, growth and development of all muscle groups specifically for sports movement and bodybuilding for comprehension in athletic context such as in this video. Thanks 😎 as this was great for comprehension of the correct movement to build these muscle groups without damaging them.
That's a super cool biopuzzle you got there. Waay more edifying than 2d picrures. I like how you can just take pieces off to look at the stuff underneath.
Well ! I'm no student but , so understand NOW why I have to get my glutes working , in my 7th decade and stiff and slow etc ! I have a weak botty ... so will do exercise ,, thank you young fella !
Like you,I am a runner(and medic). For some months now experiencing pain in upper part of right gluteal region especially after hill sprints.Whilst running this morning had pain every time I landed on right leg.Tender over iliac fossa and Getting up from sitting position painful.I thought it might be a problem with piriformis but, having watched your video I think it is a 'strain' of glut max.I have difficulty stopping running but have no alternative. Thanks for your informative video.
Excellent video. I have diabetic polyneuropathy. Glutes and below them where my bottom contacts a chair hurt occasionally and I wondered what the muscularity was in that area.
Nice, just what I needed. My sciatica impinges and understanding the way things work and connect help me heal. I have a good Phd PT and he has vids to explain. This vid show why my left turns in ski racing is limited to ROM. Your other vid on lower limb is great. thanks.
Actually Doc, midstance you lean on the affected side taking the COG near the weak muscle when standing on one leg and you wont fall. But during the swing phase you lean on the good side to either do circumduction , Hip flexion or knee flexion or hip hiking to clear the long leg or the affected side off the ground.
This is amazing ,I've had a hip resurface op 6 months ago and this is fantastic at explaining how these muscles work . I could listen to this guy all day 10/10

I have spent months researching into human anatomy and discovered a fantastic website at Sebs Study Crammer (google it if you're interested)

I took life drawing for years and I lift weights so these descriptions were very helpful. I liked the details. Thanks for sharing this wisdom.

Great at explaining how each anatomy and the abduction vs adduction, internal vs lateral rotation work for the glutes.
Nicely put, helped me educate my son who is taking martial arts. Explained it in a way I couldn't. thanks
