One of the things I love so much about Matt Smiths version of the Doctor is how dark he is. Because most of the time he has a sort of childish sense of whimsy and innocence. He’s very often played for comedy. But there’s ALWAYS that darkness lurking below the surface. The man who lost everything he loved because of his own mistakes, the man who’s willing to do what needs to be done. And most of the time it’s so subtle, you can just barely see hints in his stance or the tone of his voice. It’s incredible acting.

I wonder, if "I'm" really is one word? I know that it is shortened, but it means "I am" which are 2 words. As I am not a native english speaker, I don't really know, if it's correct, or not. And why is "The Doctor" with the big T? Shouldn't it be like: "Hello, I am the Doctor"?
Depends on the accent (hope, I'm not messing that with something else), if he's about to point out that he is THE Doctor, THE one and only, then yes, that should be written with the big T, but if he uses it simply as his name, like "Hello, I'm Jack", or "Hello, I'm the Doctor", there's no reason for the big T. He's not pointing out, he is THE Doctor, you've heard about, just the Doctor as simply his name. Similar to how I see it in that scene of the trailer to Capaldi's probably last episode. Surf_4 NBC Tennant captained the golden age of doctor who, he said many goodbyes which showed many emotions, if 11 had more than two proper companions then he would have been just as emotional.
Most epic, goose bump inducing introduction of a new Doctor ever. Showing all the previous Doctors and having Matt smith walk through the image of David Tennant was inspired.
One thing I loved about this scene, and they did it in the episode, “The Next Doctor,” was they showed all the doctors throughout the shows history. Pretty much the message being, “if you have ever seen one of these faces, I want you to know that it was me the entire time.”
The doctor said to the atraxi "you are not the first lot to come here" so he was implying that the aliens the atraxi were looking at had come to the earth but the ood and the hath never came to the earth.
Imagine if the Atraxi can perceive reality in the dimension of time, using their scanning tech.. Just think what a vast and tangled eldritch cosmic horror the Doctor would appear to be from that POV.. Like that first scan pass only shows the surface, present-day doctor, but by the time they've answered all 3 questions their systems have mapped his entire timeline.. No wonder they bricked it! 😂
That line when he ask them about what happen too the other being who invaded earth, showing every doctor( of that time) with his music playing in a lovely orchestral sends chills down your spine. Showing them that he is the doctor, last of the time lords, protector of earth, destroyer of the darlek and cybermen, the true master of all space and time an if they wanted to live to see tomorrow run and never come back.
The editing in this scene though is a bit off (especially in the full scene) since I remember seeing the Doctor reaching into his jacket pocket in one shot, then he isn't and then he is again when he pulls out the Tardis key.
How about the spinning of the Atraxi at the end? It starts spinning clockwise (from the Doctor's perspective), and in the next cut it is spinning counterclockwise.
Hum, to defeat that giant eyeball I think you only need to turn around it really fast, eventually it'll tire and won't keep up, then shrink, eyeroll and disappear and you get a coin !

Are you seriously making that comparison? This was a one in a lifetime opportunity. What the Doctor did worked because every event leading up to it worked out in a specific set of circumstances. That "specific set of circumstances" doesn't happen with the other aliens on Earth...
It was this moment that cemented Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor

@@audialakskdk2195 10 might be more popular, but like I said, I think he was too human. 11 is a better Doctor.
I come back to this every so often. Every time its goosebumps

Iconic scenes
Most epic, goose bump inducing introduction of a new Doctor ever. Showing all the previous Doctors and having Matt smith walk through the image of David Tennant was inspired.
Best intro of a new Doctor ever
the best doctor ever, his personality is so fresh
You know Matt Smith is an amazing Doctor when he had his defining moment in his first episode.
The music at the end here is legendary
I get a thrill every time I hear the music and 11 walks through to announce himself. Amazing acting and score.
I also love that the images of previous Doctors is what he walks through.
One thing I loved about this scene, and they did it in the episode, “The Next Doctor,” was they showed all the doctors throughout the shows history.
Pretty much the message being, “if you have ever seen one of these faces, I want you to know that it was me the entire time.”
This scene never gets old! If I get tired of the current BS....I come back to this scene.
I started watching Doctor Who on the day this episode premiered, and it helped cement my love for the series.
Literally "armies would turn and run and the mention of his name"
Doctor: “Are the people of this world guilty of any crime by the laws of the Atraxi?”
Atraxi: “They made Twilight.”
Doctor: “...Burn the planet.”
No, worse, Cats
Don't taint Doctor Who with that trash
Doctor:” You guys made Shygarin. That’s just as bad”
I read it in his voice lmao
This is the best thing to ever come out of Dr.Who... Fight me
god i love this scene. It just shows how perfect 11 was. by FAR my favorite doctor. he had so many epic moments like this
The scene that sold EVERYONE on the Eleventh Doctor
This was the first episode I had ever seen of Doctor Who, and I was hooked ever since.
Atraxi: "You are not of the world."
Doctor: "No, but I've put a lot of work into it."
Such a great intro.
After an episode of fish fingers and custard, we get a glimpse of him with his scary face on. The contrast was fantastic.
Yes because the ood and the hath both came to the earth to and that cyberman smashing through the window that was on in a parallel universe…
Still was Earth, though.
But on a parallel universe so ther is no way the atraxi could have seen or known that
How do you know what the Atraxi can and can't do?
The doctor said to the atraxi "you are not the first lot to come here" so he was implying that the aliens the atraxi were looking at had come to the earth but the ood and the hath never came to the earth.
There is also the Vashta Nerada in a space suit, i doubt the Atraxi can time travel.
That speech sent chills down my spine the first time
If I were the Atraxi I'd run and keep running as far as possible
Basically Run.. told me Matt Smith Eleven was my favorite Doctor
DOCTOR : Leaving is good never coming back is better
The Atraxi were lucky that Harriet Jones wasn't the prime minister anymore.
+Ábel Farkas ikr she would have no mercy
+Ábel Farkas Don't you think she looks tired, though?
The moment Smith walks through the hologram, perfect
The editing in this scene though is a bit off (especially in the full scene) since I remember seeing the Doctor reaching into his jacket pocket in one shot, then he isn't and then he is again when he pulls out the Tardis key.
How about the spinning of the Atraxi at the end? It starts spinning clockwise (from the Doctor's perspective), and in the next cut it is spinning counterclockwise.
How about - he's choosing a tie, he throws all of them away and suddenly he has a bow-tie!
MAGIC my friend MAGIC !!!!xdddd
+Domihork 01:26 you can see him putting it on. 🤓
you saw nothing :V its MAGIC 100% :V
I always love the fact that peter Capaldis coat made a cameo here.
What I would've enjoyed is seeing Matt and David come out together!
What?
Day of the Doctor
THAT IS MY FAVORITE SCENE RIGHT THERE.....sometimes when i feel all bored..i just play it over and over..SO BASICALLY am hooked..
I still grin when I see this part 😂😂
"Basically, run."
And boy do they ever! Lookit 'em go!
Hum, to defeat that giant eyeball I think you only need to turn around it really fast, eventually it'll tire and won't keep up, then shrink, eyeroll and disappear and you get a coin !
Andrianarinivo Mario 64 right ? xD
Mario party 8!
"The man who can turn an army around at the mention of his name."
I love how the seeds of this storyline were placed so early, it added so much to Rivers speech.
I keep coming back to watch this scene.
1:50 - One of the most badass track ever made for this show. :D
In case you are wondering, here are some of the other badass tracks (and scenes) I always like to watch over and over again:

I love that he started every speech with “CAMMOOOOONN THEN!!!!!”
my favourite Doctor
Legend it has the Atraxi are still running. Probably reaching the HD1 galaxy now.
Doctor: hell I'm the doctor...... Basically.... Run
Atraxi: SHIT RUN BOYS
This at the time made me an instant 11 fan. So cool! It was so sad to see Tenant go, but after this I was convinced that Matt Smith, too, knew what he was doing.
Why can't all aliens take that advice? Oh yeah, because the show would be boring, of course....(chuckles)
Well of course
Are you seriously making that comparison? This was a one in a lifetime opportunity. What the Doctor did worked because every event leading up to it worked out in a specific set of circumstances. That "specific set of circumstances" doesn't happen with the other aliens on Earth...
Mate, just....it was supposed to be a joke, okay?
how do you know it is fiction
I love that he's so extremely likeable and low key, yet his words carry such power. Talk about an iron fist in a velvet glove!
Come on man deyişini seveyim ben senin ya o nasıl bir konuşmaydı öyle I LOVE YOU MATT SMITH
I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the music. Along with the buildup from Matt Smith it really gave this scene the power it needed
