    hi, what does it mean when, for example, the domain starts with [ and ends with )?

    • @ms.smithsmathtutorials
      @ms.smithsmathtutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you see a [ or ] symbol it means you have a solid point (also called an "included point"). When you see a ( or ) symbol it means you have an open point (also called a "non-included point") or an arrow if it is infinity. If the domain starts with a [ and ends with a ) then that just means the point furthest on the left is solid and the point furthest on the right is an open point or an arrow if it is infinity
      I hope this helps!

    What is the purpose of ( R) sign and what it means?

    • @ms.smithsmathtutorials

      The R sign stands for "All Real Numbers" and is just a different way to express negative infinity to positive infinity. It is just a shorter and easier way to write the same answer!
