I spent almost 2hours just to have access to my busted bulb, and I was unsuccessful until I saw your post. Coincidentally, it is a 2011 Silverado. It just my truck's model. Thanks for your insight on replacing the bulb/headlights. It benefited me from your post. Blessings
I appreciate the effort truly but I have to tell you I couldn’t find a single video including this one that said : Stick your hand in there and just twist the thing counter clockwise. Geez…it feels like you guys that make these videos are trying to discourage people from changing light bulbs so we pay a mechanic hundreds of dollars? I put it off for weeks, risked getting a ticket, or worse. Literally…stick your hand behind the wiper fluid dispenser, grab the assembly, twist it counterclockwise, lift the snap between the bulb and the wiring, replace the bulb, stick it back in and turn clockwise. Zero tools. Less than two minutes. In front of o’reilly’s. All alone. Mic drop.
Very helpful video if you are trying to replace the whole headlight... If you are just trying to replace the head lamp bulb, just pull the air box and you're right there. 3 min and done.
Great video and spot on instructions. On my 2013, I just reached in, grabbed the light, twisted and pulled it out. Replaced the bulb and put the socket back in. Took about 3 minutes. I used a chair to stand on. My hands aren’t huge which was helpful. Good luck!
so you could replace the bulb without having to remote the grille, whole headlight, etc.? If so, that would be awesome. A simple bulb swap shouldn't require as much effort as what's in the video.
I actually look for your video's now. After trying to diagnose and help repair my son's 2004 Dodge Ram vi LONG DISTANCE and now our 2009 GMC SIERRA where I have to replace the Headlight bulb, Your videos are top notch! They make it really easy to follow and the confidence of getting the repair done quickly and efficiently is such a relief.
I have changed both of the left and the right side of my bulbs without taking off the front grill, but watching your video made me see how to get to the wiring hornest. That was exactly what I needed to see, thank you so much buddy, For getting to the wiring hornest that was adsactly what I needed to see.

Spent an hour the other day trying to remove the headlamp assembly to install HID conversion kit with no luck. Thanks for the video, it was very clear and informative.
This video is excellent! I not only saved big money on the headlight itself, but the installation process was very simple as well! Thank you so much to 1A Auto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you're just replacing the bulb, you may be able to reach around the back of the headlight and remove it without removing the actual headlight. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
The owners manual tells you the pop the airbox loose to get access to the passenger side headlight bulbs. On the driver side there is enough room for your hand to access the bulbs and change them.
Hey guys I'm wrapping a 2014 Chevrolet 2500 HD and l watched this video and another to remove the door handles. I just wanted to thank you for posting this video. It made my job a lot easier :)
On my 2012 3500 there are six clips holding on the grill, rather than four. And the plugs that hold on the top piece of plastic have two parts--pry out the inside stem, then take out the outer plug. Reverse the process to put back in. Thanks for the video--it helped.
Thanks for this great video. What a pain they made this into. My '99 Silverado had 2 pins you pulled out and the whole assembly popped out. Thanks again for the great instruction
Great informative video but I don't know what dumbazz designs a vehicle where you have to pull the front of the truck down to change a simple headlight bulb!. My case is worse because I have a brush guard on to protect from front end damage so it's now a two man job.
@@sgtjameslindsey2493 I haven’t tried it on the Silverado yet (my son has one and he’s away at college so that’s why I’m watching), but I didn’t have to take the whole grill off of the Suburban, and I sure didn’t remove the whole headlight assy. I’m thinking I just went in through the wheel well
@@sgtjameslindsey2493 remove the air box on one side and the washer bottle on te other if you don't have someone with small hands to get the drivers side out.
Great video. Saved me some time getting to and locating that 10mm bolt under the driver side front wheel well. The small knife blade contact in the low beam headlight connector broke off when pulling off the old bulb. Some arching must have been occurring since that part of the connector seemed burnt. Instead of cutting and soldering a new connector on I just bought a new wiring harness for $45.00 locally and replaced it. I did notice there is a new updated design for the low beam headlight connector on this new wiring harness. Keeps the bulb from unsnapping thus illuminating the arching due to a loose connection. This has solved my driver side low beam headlight from intermittently functioning. Took me about two hours to complete this repair and just took my time. No mechanic experience. Going to replace the passenger side wiring harness when I get some time to ensure that low beam headlight connector is up to date as well. Sure beats paying $270.00 at a dealership for this type of repair. Price of labor these days will kill you.
Very helpful video! Too bad GM can't just leave well enough alone. The last body style headlight replacement took about 90 seconds. Pull two pins, lens assy comes out in your hand, replace bulb, reassemble. Grr....

DANG. I tried on the weekend to do this on a nice sunny day. Got the parts all off including the grill and couldn't for the life of me find those dang screws in behind the wheel liner. Put it all back together thinking I was taking too many parts off, oh well, maybe next weekend. It must have taken a GM engineer many hours to figure how to frig up a simple job like replacing a bulb. Thanks for your help.
I took the truck all apart again and loosened the bolts under the fender liner. I did not re-tighten them when I was done. Two bolts should be sufficient to hold a light in place.
Thank you!!!! Just did this today. Did the other headlight just because my luck would have it that next week the other one would go out and i would have to rip all this stuff out again. The right headlight was a little harder to get out due to that bottom screw behind the wheel well being obstructed by a bar. Good times. Thanks again
Thanks for the video. A little different for the 2012. Has 6 clips on the grill and the wheel well liner has screws to remove to get to the back of the headlamp.

I had to replace all the bulbs on my father in law's 2013 GMC Sierra 1500. This video was almost spot on. The other videos that tell you to remove the air filter or others that go up from the wheel well are a joke. We tried this last time and it might be ok for a single turn signal, but I my knuckles got so beat up it was not worth it. The only difference on the GMC was that the bumper goes across the front and is basically attached to the front grill (I did not see an easy way to separate it). To remove it, you have to take out two 7mm bolts under the wheel well on each side holding the side of the bumper on, and then pull the bumper away from the sides until you get over to the grill and then it will come off with the front grill. Then you have full access to the housings as described in this awesome video. Putting the entire thing back on was a bit of a trick because there are four spots on top of the chrome bumper where the plastic bumper piece has to align just right when you are pushing it back towards the engine block. This was a bit tricky to make sure things lined up properly. All in all, this video is much easier than other methods that are described both on TH-cam and some bulb manufacture sites. Kudos to whomever did this video.

You might be able to get your hand in the back of the housing to remove them, with out taking the unit out. If there's not enough room, you may have to remove the assembly. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
OK, the product was perfect! And Bonus! I got lamps in my units! Now, the "dislike" part. You will need 5 different pliers to find the best one to fit you for the clips, those clips are a b!ch! The wheel well bolts will cause some cussing, so make sure there are no children around and turn up the shop music! Before you start tightening down the bolts, wiggle the fixture around to find the "sweet" spot, and turn the headlights on to see the difference against you garage/shop wall. Don't think that you'll tighten everything down and it'll be perfect. There's a lot of wiggle room in the mounting holes. I recommend you have; 2 - 3 hours 4 - 5 beers ~ 2 shots a 10m socket with an extension and a universal (1/4") (for the wheelwell bolts) loud music so the kids don't hear you cuss. oh, and the 2010 has 6 clips on the grill, not 4. This video was made to sell the product, not show us what we are getting into. But, the product was nothing less than perfect! Well worth the money over the cheap ones.
To replace "JUST THE BULB", you should be able to reach behind the headlight and remove the headlight bulb. This video shows the location of the bulbs, and how to replace the headlight if you need to. Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com
I have a 2013 GMC 2500HD Sierra SLE and the grill appears to be secured with additional keepers or brackets at the bottom of the grill to the bumper assembly. Am I wrong on this? the clips come free, but it's still locked in at the bottom to a plastic 'valance'. Thanks.

do you guys sell the entire headlight harness by itself ??.
Hi, very helpful video, however to just replace the amber light bulbs does the lamp need to be removed?
You might be able to get your hand in the back of the housing to remove them, with out taking the unit out. If there's not enough room, you may have to remove the assembly. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Do you sell the clips that you lift in order to remove the primary plastic cover?
+Victor Adame Thanks for checking us out! We do not sell the clips at this time. 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I recommend you have;
2 - 3 hours
4 - 5 beers
~ 2 shots
a 10m socket with an extension and a universal (1/4") (for the wheelwell bolts)
loud music so the kids don't hear you cuss.
oh, and the 2010 has 6 clips on the grill, not 4.
This video was made to sell the product, not show us what we are getting into.
But, the product was nothing less than perfect! Well worth the money over the cheap ones.
Great videos. Do you just do the same for the passenger side or are there some "oh, by the ways?' Thanks!
same process.
To replace "JUST THE BULB", you should be able to reach behind the headlight and remove the headlight bulb. This video shows the location of the bulbs, and how to replace the headlight if you need to. Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com
I got blessed with skinny arms. Lol... Just reached back in there and changed the bulbs. Had a friend pull back on the breatjer a little.
ZORN BRATTON My buddy and I just did the same thing in the parking lot. lol
video was very helpful thanks!
Thank you! Very helpful!
Do you need to disconnect the Battery for replacing bulbs?
Thanks for a great video, but should mention headlights may need to be adjusted afterward if changing the entire unit and not just a bulb.
Where is the best place to get those clips? Do you know what they are called?
Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the help

I have a 2013 GMC 2500HD Sierra SLE and the grill appears to be secured with additional keepers or brackets at the bottom of the grill to the bumper assembly. Am I wrong on this? the clips come free, but it's still locked in at the bottom to a plastic 'valance'. Thanks.
What are those bulb name to buy it??
Thanks
Is there anyway to change the bulbs without pulling everything out
When changing out the entire assembly, do the headlights need to be re-aimed?
+Jack Lambert Yes, you should re-aim the headlights to ensure it will be able to fit. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.
Is there a way to replace the passenger side bulb without removing the grill?
