I agree, love electric cars that aren’t purposely trying to look like a quirky science experiment. Even then I love traditional chrome grilles and would love it to look identical to the petrol car except be an electric drivetrain. Imagine a 320e!
bought one in the UAE where I live and where they just arrived. I'm very happy, specifically because....it doesn't look and feel like a futuristic non-sense EV. It is electric, it tick that box, but that box only in that terms. So...very satisfied.
I can compare an iX3 to a Tesla Model 3 directly, both on long term usage, extended trips and so on. They’re actually quite close, I could not tell you a clear winner straight ahead. Tesla has some positive points in the app, or how they handle the software at all. How the car improves bit by bit, with the feedback of real drivers from the field. The advantages you quote („Tesla can charge at 250kW while iX3 can only 150kW“) are not really that important at all, because 250/150 are peak values. If you stop for a charge and you need 50kWh, you will spend around 30min in each of these. I like the 360° camera and the HUD in BMW. Tesla has a better API for 3rd party apps for logging stats and controls. So really, you could say Tesla is a bit better by being more future-proof with OTA updates. BMW could (potentially) also do it, but only partially - for example, there’s no way to update ABS or ESP, the BMS can be updated in the facelifted iX3 but not in the one before… Tesla has a completely new approach where everything is programmable and controlled by one main computer. Gives me more hope that in 5 years it will still remain modern, while BMW will look outdated. But if you like the looks and the feel of the iX3 - which I do - this is a very nice car and a solid alternative for Tesla!
You can’t compare this with a Tesla. Build quality, driving experience/comfort, luxury feel and looks are far beyond a Tesla. I own a Tesla 3. Not for long though….
I'm glad that this looks just like the normal X3! I can't wait until EVs are no longer a special version of car, what I mean is, in the future there will be no "iX3" there will just be an "X3" but it won't have an IC Engine in it :)
Picked up ours 3 months ago. We have the blue accents but had no choice - ours was the last one in the country with beige leather before the facelift wiped this option out. Blue accents grow on you 😃 and are useful here in Poland where EV’s get access to bus lanes and free parking. Blue trim doesn’t scream EV, more like squeaks EV🤣

Great detailed review 👍. The price of this car is the main issue. X3 30d is the same price, with AWD (Xdrive) and a longer range. I’ve owned 2009, 2014 & 2017 (G01) X3 30d. The interior of the 2022 iX3 looks very similar to my 2017 X3. Apple CarPlay saves the day. For anyone wanting to switch to electric, Tesla Model Y RWD is a direct competitor. Half the price, with dedicated charging network and now qualifying for all NSW government rebates (July 2023). Bought one… Interesting to see how many iX3 models BMW will sell. BMW engineering is superior but that price is insane.
@@tbcauhome3573 Nice 👍. There is also apparently a base variant arriving for $89k that scrapes under the LCT threshold and would be eligible for EV exemption of FBT on a novated lease
Is this Carbon Black Metallic? I've seen another video by "the car crash review" where the iX3 looked way more blue'ish, and where it said in the comments it would be "Carbon Black Metallic" as well. Yours looks really way more black.
Tariifs are already removed from EVs brought in the Philippines and sad to say it is almost the same price, probably a bit expensive here, but the tech and features are less. Shout out RSA motors..where are the 20" rims and 360 deg camera on the BMW ix3?

@@CarExpertAus Am looking at getting an electric car soon but it’s a hard choice. But crazy how the NSW and VIC govts are penalising for each 10,000 kms when other countries giving incentives.
Rented one about a year ago in Adelaide Hills and got something like 430 out of it hooning around and a fair bit of time on the Princess Highway. Charges like a beast, though, so I never really thought about it. Great car, especially given how fun that RWD package was. I think it was similarly priced to the i30 variant of the X3, and I would choose this over that, hands down. I priced one up not long after getting home and was impressed with the value after having driven one. A few months later, I ended up with a refreshed Model 3, given that I already had a soft-roader that was also in the driveway. The "SUV" package was less appealing, but it is definitely a competitive piece of kit and would probably have sprung for one in an alternate universe.
