    Hi how to thread through the tone 2 holes in bowben?

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for watching my video. You have to put the thread in one hole of the side of the shuttle and then place the thread behind the tension plate and up into the hole on top. here is a video from a fellow Ytuber that show how to thread it. th-cam.com/video/nYzNCf6x-yI/w-d-xo.html

      Hey MJ, Thanks for watching my videos, Ok so the magnets are there to help guild my stitching line and help me stay straight, you measure the distance between the needle and the magnets and they will keep you in line, just make sure they are strong magnets or they will move on you. You can get a nice magnet from goldstartool.com heres a link to a better one. goldstartool.com/Magnetic_Gauge_G-35.html they also have a video on YT about guilds and magnetic guilds heres a link th-cam.com/video/gJXClTxgg5w/w-d-xo.html hope this helps.

    Hi. My bobbin stitching is starting to become very loose. Any tips on how to fix it?

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Andrew, yes all you have to do is tighten up the little screw on the bobbin/shuttle case, the little screw puts tension on the little plate which then puts tension on the thread, make sure the thread is behind that plate.

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen

      Yes it is possible. There's a little bolt next to the foot lift lever that adjusts the stitch length.

      The thickest thread you can use is #138 bonded nylon. you can not use that thick of a thread on this machine.

  • @timestes5370

    I just acquired one of these machines. After finally figuring out the correct bobbin positioning, was able to sew for practice. Problem is: able to sew about 4 to 5 inches and the upper thread breaks down inside the bobbin component. All thread paths triple checked and were OK. Both sides of leather used for practice showed good patterns and no knots or extra thread bundles. The thread just breaks. Have any idea what is causing such a glitch? The test thread used is that which came with the package. Could that be part of the problem? Have been using this material for practice and have local thread on hand for when I get a better grip on the use.

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tim thank for watching my video. well lets see I never used the mono filament nylon thread that comes with the machine I use #69 bonded nylon thread. Now try tightening up the tension on both the bobbin and the upper thread tension knob sometimes it will sew right for a bit but then snaps it if the tension is off. Now if it still does it the mono thread could be bad. I say change the thread to a bonded nylon it should perform much better. this machine works only with high strength threads you can not use cheap cotton thread on this only nylon good brand that can be bought in any sew/fabric store is Coats and Clarks extra strong upholstery thread. In my experience in sewing when a thread pops it is do to bad tension or threading the machine the wrong way. Make sure the thread is threaded right in the bobbin and tensioned right. the thread should go through the hole under the little tension plate on the bobbin case then behind the plate and up to the hole right above it, it should have some tension but not alot if u pull the thread and it zips to fast then tighten up the little screw. Hope this works, let me know if you get the problem worked out.

    • @kryoja2104
      @kryoja2104 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thread will break if the upper tension gets too tight. This can happen if the thread spool get hung up. If you are using industrial thread cones you must use a thread stand. Thread cons do not like the thread pulled from the side it must pull from the top. They sell thread stands for this machine on ebay.

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tom, thanks for commenting. No I don't think it will work since the muyupai or chinese patchers bobbins are smaller, you will have to modify the bobbin winder on the babylock to fit these bobbin.

    Hey I’ve been through all your vids, was wondering if you had any idea on why my thread keeps breaking. If it is burrs, i’m not sure where to sand down.
    If not, could it be the quality of the thread?
    Nothing ever sews as the thread breaks so quickly😩
    Tension is okay I think!

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nay T, Thank you for watching my video. Let see, for thread I use #69 bonded nylon, nylon and polyester threads are best in these machines, for thinner work you can use #46 bonded nylon thread with a size 14 needle and a size 16-18 needle for the #69 thread, once you have the tread then you will have to fine tune your tension top tension must be equal to bottom/bobbin tension, now also look at the top tensioner wrap a piece of thread around it long enough to pull on both sides and check to see if the tensioner is fraying your thread if so then sand or file smooth, make sure that you are threading the machine correctly and you thread the needle from left to right, make sure you needle is set right, sometime the needle bar on these machines are set to high by a mm or two so you can test it by dropping your needle down a bit and see how it sews, the needle should always peek out a bit from the bottom of the arm on its down position, and most of all you have to oil and grease all moving parts where steel meets steel so it moves smoothly, hope this helps, if all of this fails then you can join the facebook group that talks about all of these machines, heres the link

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nayt7357 Yes the needle can be adjusted either by loosening the needle holder and dropping the needle down a bit or if you have to adjust the needle bar its self, No the flat side of the needle should be against the needle bar/facing in.

      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Assuming they are like the way I show it in the video, then check the needle maybe its to far up the needle bar, try bring it down a bit, also make sure it is a standard singer needle 15x1.

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen

      Ok put in a fresh needle and look at it when you turn the crank clockwise, check and see if the needle hole is down and matches up with the shuttle hook when doing a full rotation. If that doesn't work you have to post a video of it in use with the gate plate open.

    Why mine. Cut my thread when the needle go up. Like 4 inches

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lets see, I would check the tension on the bobbin case/shuttle and make sure the thread is under the tension clip and place the thread in the first hole coming out on top of the bobbin case, loosen up the little screw a little bit at a time and pull the thread and see if it feeds smoothly, if it to loose just tighten the screw until its to your liking it must have some resistance, also make sure its timed is right, as the needle goes down the shuttle hook should be away from the needle eye when the needle just starts to go up the shuttle hook should be meeting the needle eye at around the same time to grab the thread if its not then place the bobbin case/shuttle the way I show it in my video, also make sure you only turn the crank clock wise. now if your bobbins are pretty rough like mines were then you should buy new ones I posted a link in one of my comment from where I bought my on ebay if not do an ebay search for singer 29k bobbins they fit the chinese patcher and your machine which is just a marketed name brand but its the same you can find parts for it on ebay or do a google search. Hope this works if not please make a video of it so I can see in details. Good luck let me know if you have any more questions.

    the wheel of my sewing machine does not go around

    • @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen
      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mrubi Paz, thank you for watching my video, make sure that you have put each bearing in the proper placement in the crank wheel, also make sure that the nut that holds the crank wheel is nice and tight, sometimes while operating the nut loosens up and the wheel slides off a bit and derails the bearings from the tracks, now if all this is done and you still have issues, then make sure that the bobbin housing is moving freely, there are no rough parts in the crank wheel, or that even you bearings could be tight, make sure you file and sand all the sharp edges on the tracks, and any moving part that the thread touches and grease the bearing and gears with light automotive gear grease and use lost of 3in1 oil where metal touches metal. Hope this helps. Heres a link to a facebook group about these machines they have lots on info. facebook.com/groups/1646031288779869

      @JohnnyUrbanWoodsmen  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would not recommend removing the shuttle tension spring, if the thread it too large it will rub against the hole and fray and break your thread and bind in your machine, I recommend only using the maximum thickness of thread which is #138 bonded nylon only.
