Cascada - CDA-XM92 is absolutely DosBox's fault. It sounds like it's actually bit-banging the AdLib, which normal builds of DosBox don't really support. You can get better sound by either using a Covox/DAC option, or using the Sound Blaster option with a branch of DosBox that's more accurate, like DosBox-X.
Thank you for the insights. I'm pretty sure I tried multiple options, but it must have been some incompatibilities with DOSBox as you say. Hopefully I will get some nice hardware to run DOS and old Windows-versions at some point.
