    I liked the fact that this video was recorded in a biome other than the desert or jungle. There are new plants, animals and maybe agriculture would work better. Which biome do you prefer overall, Chad?

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +63

      This place is so close to heaven. Every biome has its special advantages and disadvantages. This one is great during the summer but it is all snow in the winter. My hut is great in the summer and fall but so cold in the winter. The desert is good in the cooler months as long as there is a reliable source of water nearby and edible foods. The jungle is warm year round but you deal with terrible humidity at times and lots of biting insects. I like the nomadic lifestyle best where one moves from place to place following the food and resources.

    Hello again my friend.
    Here's something you may or may not have tried.
    After gutting the fish...Collect wild green edibles and yes fruit if any are ripe.
    Wash the edibles and without drying stuff the inner cavity of the fish with them along with any fruit you may have.
    Cook just like you did in this video.
    When the fish is ready you have the protein from the fish and fresh greens to go with it.
    Depending on what type of wild edibles you have it may flavor the fish quite nicely.
    PS. - You already know that I'm all about fishing so yes I have played fishing clash before.I was pleasantly surprised at the realistic look of the fish.
    Until next time stay safe and healthy my friend !

    Primitive fishing is definitely challenging. I always try to approach a stream from down stream and cast up and allow the bait to drift back down towards me as I slowly make my way up stream. Trout will lay facing and looking upstream when there is any current and will see you approach and spook if they see you coming. But sometimes it's just not possible and staying low and still as you did was great. I've caught me largest trout right in the white water where small waterfalls flow into a run. Just flicking my fly upstream and letting it flow downstream over the fall. The fish always smash a fly (or bait) really hard in these locations because if they don't they miss their chance at getting a feed. Looked like a great relaxing location 👍🏽

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, those are good tips. I've fished this same stream before with a lot more success. I think it was just the time of year mostly. But I caught at least ten the last time (of course using modern fishing gear that time). But still I expected more bites on this outing. I still have to practice and hone my primitive fishing skills.

    • @RobsBushcraftandAdventures
      @RobsBushcraftandAdventures ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah primitive fishing is definitely a lot more challenging than using modern gear. And then when you add the whole setting up cameras and feeling the pressure to actually catch something for the video it can make it almost not enjoyable.

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RobsBushcraftandAdventures The filming part is particularly challenging especially when the fish aren't biting well. I was fortunate that I had the camera rolling when I got this one because it was the only bite I had.

    I really enjoyed this primitive trout fishing video, thanks for posting. Reminds me when I was a kid and put anything together so I could fish trout in my local river. Brings me back to simpler times. Now I got more fishing gear than a guy could ever need. But it’s good to see things like this. Shows people the humble beginnings.

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      My dad gave me all his saltwater gear. Now I have lots of big game gear for chasing tuna and even marlin but I haven't even used it. My uncle told me about a time when he found a nail, bent it in the shape of a hook, tied a line to it and gave it to my cousin. She found grasshoppers for bait and came back with three trout.

    Thanks to Chad we can now appreciate more the fact that we can bring food to our mouth in such a convenient and easy way. Before throwing away that piece of meat that you don't like much, think about primitive humans and even modern ones that would consider that piece of meat a luxury.

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      NEVER throw away meat! In my opinion that is a great sin. An animal gave it's life for a person to eat. Giving thanks and eating all of the animal gives honor to the animal and meaning to its life.

    One thing that might help your fishing is to put something in the water to attract the fish. Not sure exactly what would work but I have seen people throw many different things. From raw/rotten meat/fish too, pieces of bread, grubs, maggots, insects, prawns, spices, and so on. Maybe do some experiments to determine what kind of bait the fish are interested in? Or what scent they might like?

    That's a Golden Trout. Only lives in waters over 9000 feet. Native to southern Sierra Nevada range of California.
    Fish hang out AR a "feeding station" in calmer water watching the moving water for food. That's like the place the first fish was caught.
    It's usually best to approach fish from downstream since their eyes are pointed upstream as they fight the current to remain stationary.

Не доходя метров 10 до реки мы ложимся и ползем к реке , обыкновенная удочка , но леска всего 1 метр длинны . Леха постепенно , очень медленно вытягиваем удочку над рекой . Если рыба вас не заметила , то клюет быстро . После того , как в этом месте поймали рыбку , можно вставать во весь рост , так как рыба испугалась и клевать здесь больше не будет . Идеи выше или ниже по течению и процедура продолжается . Попробуйте , не пожалеете .

    I couldn’t quite tell, did you make a stringer to hold your caught fish?

      I didn't talk about the stringer but it is made from an agave thorn and yucca fibers.

    you could mash those berries and add them to the stomach cavity of fish and animals you catch and cook to add wonderful flavor to them, plus they can still be eaten after

    How do you pick out areas that generally don't have any predators around?, or if you did found any predators what did you encountered?

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are predators but remember that humans are usually the greatest predator and other animals avoid humans most of the time.

    5:02, you know, looking at the clay eyes has me thinking, what if you tried to make a reel from clay? with the edges flared out to keep the line centered, you could score one edge with notches, and make a pivoting lever against the body of the pole, to lock the reel in place. If that makes any sense?

    Hello Chad!
    I really like your videos. I'm very glad that you started buying ads from you. I wish your channel nothing but prosperity!
    To tell you the truth, I liked your old videos better, when nothing knocked you out of the immersion in the atmosphere. Especially to me, you may not have said anything in the whole video. The camera in your old videos was put simply, But the footage was very beautiful.
    Now it's hard for me to immerse myself in the atmosphere of the video. Especially when ads pop up in the middle of the video) It doesn't ruin your videos, they just become different.
    I didn't want to offend anyone in any way. I'm not saying you need to stop talking in your videos or inserting ads. I just wanted to say that I used to find your videos more atmospheric.
    Thank you Chad, for your videos, I wish you all the best!

    I have a saying that has always worked for me.. when you think like a fish you will catch a fish. lol or if your wanting to catch a cat fish just say here kitty kitty kitty when you cast your line in the water. lol of course it only works if there are fish where you cast. 🤣

    For the next videos of huts, i recommend using mud roof tiles for the roofs, so you don't need to switch roof every raining! Have a nice day/evening/night, pal!

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I would need much stronger woof so that it could withstand the weight of an earthen roof.

      @@ChadZuberAdventuresI hope you use my recommendation! It would be so much less work for you! When i made my hut with this type of roof, i fixed only 2 times last year! I hope it helps you!

      @@sportsy69 I want to build more huts out here using different methods. The bark roof actually works very well. I just need to spend the time to collect another big load of bark to put on the roof and it should be good for a few years. I literally used all the bark that is reasonably close to me so now I need to travel further to get it and that is the delay I've had.

    Não importa o quanto você tente recriar uma vara de pesca com materiais primitivos, a pesca com lança vai ser sempre mais efetiva quando se tem recursos limitados e fome. É uma habilidade poderosa para sobrevivência a ser aprendida e dominada

    4:22 with the way he was flopping, and the quick current of the stream, I'll bet a dip net would be really useful too. Fairly straightforward to construct, too, if a bit tedious.

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, a bit tedious and time consuming to make all that string. I actually have a net hanging in my hut. It just holds things.
