Thanks for the "Jump In" recommendation. Was getting crushed in standard and ranked by constructed decks. Assumed there had to be a place for beginners. Been winning at least 50% in Jump in plus learning card mechanics and collecting decks and gold!
Still bull though, wish there was some sort of a disclaimer in game. I've lost so much 'hard earned' gold attempting the different events. Extremely frustrating after grinding for days just to get smashed aside by wealthy players. Though I guess this is the real magic experience I remember as a kid. Ignorance and poverty 😂
The majority of formats involve staring at an empty board. Jump in is a rare format where they can't load up on so much control/wipe that they can keep the board empty until they find their win combo. Otherwise get used to not getting to experiment with decks because anything except a narrow set of archtypes have any chance of even creating a board presence. I don't mind losing in magic, because it used to be really fun to build up a board presence and go head to head, and attack with enough creatures that your opponent would have to make some tough choices about what to block and what collateral damage they'd take. Even if you lost the experience was varied. Now the experience is basically whoever gets the ramp they need in the first few turns dominates, and if you ever have a game where you get slightly ahead they insta-concede because it's not worth their time to draw out a challenging game.
jump in card lists are available. bit of a lottery, but an alternative to burning wildcards if willing to farm - ob nix, righteous valks, so forth, so on...
@@TheSkarTV so do all of these cards that get added to your collection, like the jump in or the dual colored decks, reward cards containing the newest set starting on the date of release, or a different date?
You can jump in for free if you have those jump in tokens...still have 6 or 5 can't remember right off rip. Too bad I can't use them for the event that I want
Nice that you covered this. For all of the visual learners, have a flow chart than just your lovely talking head. Even some simple text of 'jump in' → 'quick draft' → 'premium draft' goes a long ways
Years ago when arena came out, I had the bright idea of "Well I can't afford to build all these decks I want to play, so I'm going to build a deck that lets me play everyone else's decks." To this day, it's still one of my most fun decks to play. lol
You could also mention that there may be pack codes available. I just downloaded this and there was about 15 or more codes that net me like three packs each. Definitely helped me get wild cards
Thanks, this video helped me a lot. I am getting back into MTG after not playing for a couple years and was feeling so overwhelmed when I logged back into MTGA. This video has given me clear goals and what gameplay to start with to get back into the swing of things.
This is just what I needed to know to get started. Thank you so much for the great explanation, everyone that wants to get into the game should watch this!
I assembeled my first deck, pretty much copied the mono blue tempo control from another video of yours. til this point about a 80 percent win rate and silver tier 2 in a day. thank you so much, I would have been mega helpless. sub and like
I am not new to mtg arena but my friend is and this really helped him get started so thank you! Also the quick draft tip was very useful I did not know that was a thing. New sub.
just trying to figure out how to get arena to stop taping the wrong floating mana like for instance i have to black removal spells i need to cast both of them i have 5 mana 2 red and 3 black one spell is double black and one colorless the other is 1 colorless and one black it highlights 2 black mana when i go to cast the 2 drop spell and then leaves me with not enough black mana to cast the other sure i could just re order the cast but i would really like to know how to chose the mana i want to use...
you can tap the mana manually simply by clicking on the lands you want to tap to before casting the spell. what will happen is it will float the mana you choose and when you drag the spell to cast it the game will use the floated mana first. This is something you also want to do if you play the rare dual lands for dominaria as the auto-tapper won't tap the lands that do damage to you.
@@TheSkarTV yes i did try that and it did not work it was locked into spending my 2 black mana i found out through trail and error that you can click CTRL to fix this and manual tap only the mana you want that way but i still have not tested this with floating mana already in my mana pool for say a spell like dark ritual.
Thank you so much, I have been playing mtg irl and honestly I just can’t with buying cards with my crippling gacha addiction, and now with the switch I was kinda kinda lost but thanks to that is no more
Probs a stupid question here, but when I win packs of cards and new cards in quests or whatever, where do those cards go? Do they automatically get entered into preconstructed decks? Do I have to access them somewhere to choose them to be in certain decks?
all cards go into your collection. You can access them by creating/editing any decks you may have. Also there is a collection button at the bottom of the deck screen where you can look at your cards and how many copies of each card you have.
i find quick draft ppl have better decks than premier draft (atleast in my experience) and it makes it harder to win (im a newby in mtg plat in constructed and gold in limited) wish i had known of the jump ins earlier not sure if its worth at the point im at atm
From what im aware theres a certain way ai drafts and if you do quick draft enough you can pick up on this pattern. Also because its ai and not real players i believe the ai picks best available rather then the logical choice if it was a player.
@@TheSkarTV I’m not sure of how it works all I know is in premier I manage to get 3+ somewhat consistently but on quick I usually end with 2 or less wins I’m not a good drafter either not even in other card games where I have more xp that’s another thing 2
I’ve completed the color challenge and the starter deck challenge. All decks have been unlocked but it hasn’t unlocked any other content for me. HELP?!
ok just one doubt how do you farm gold and exp if all I have are the basic decks? ngl it's not fun to queue match and get curb stomped before doing anything.
Kind of new to the game and I have a question. Some of the starter Decks (e.g. Sky Patrol or Lifeline) appear only under "My Decks" but not under "Starter Decks". Now normally I would like to delete all the Starter Decks from the "My Decks" part and I did so for the decks that were once under "My Decks" and once under "Starter Decks", since I can simply copy them over if I wanted them. However, I don't want to delete the ones that are only in "My Decks" and not in "Starter Decks" like e.g. Sky Patrol, since I don't want to lose the deck list. Is there a way to get all these decks into the "Starter Deck" Section, so I can clean out the "My Decks" section for only the decks I truly built myself or that I intend to use?
Can I somehow reset my progress? I mean I've created an account a while ago and earn some starters. When I'm now want to go back all of them are obsolete but I would like to keep my account. Is it possible?
Are you talking resetting the tutorials or something like that? If you finish the daily quests for the starters the newest starters in game should be in you deck tab below your created decks. Another suggestion would be to play the jump in event to get the newest cards in the game. Outside of that there isn’t any way to reset progress in the game.
I quit MTG Arena because of the glitch where even after downloading the patch, the game would re-download the 3 GB patch again every time you started the PC client. Did they finally fix the client so it's actually good?
yeah the client still has its issues tho ive had the best luck with it directly from the website. Being thrown right into the power house decks of the format is never fun as a new player or someone whose more limited in their collection. Jump in is an okay inbetween but i feel like there should be a bit more the game does for newer players players overall.
Could you clarify if you value or do Not value the mastery pass? To me its a waste of resources (unless a pass is long and you are getting more for your 3400 gem investment). I dont value the cosmetics and maybe your first chance at a mastery pass is more value cause you are getting pets, emojis and a bit of digital product.
it definitely can be especially when you are still learning the ropes and building a collection. Jump in is great way to see how the cards work together and sometimes how they don’t. Also it’s a great place to build a collection for little risk. Once you build up more of a collection and currency you can dive into building that first deck.
As a beginner, "Jump In" effing *sucks* ! Yeah, jump in with a bunch of complicated card abilities you don't yet understand, and use/respond to them on a limited timer because you're with another player. No thanks!
Little feedback. I just got the game and I appreciate you guiding me through the beginning stages. Maybe slow down just a bit. And remember we don't know all the terminology (ie drafting? standard? limited?). Otherwise, great video 👍
Start nowhere if you're not going to earn the cards. You might as well stop playing. If you're just gonna purchase a bunch of f****** cards to play you're not worth playing. You didn't have a strategy to the beginning with you Just had money get the f*** out of my face.

‘Jump In’ gets you 2 Rares and 40 cards for 1000 Gold vs 1 Rare/Mythic and 8 cards in a 1000 Gold pack.
that is true which makes it great event to start with but packs are good because they gives you to wildcards.
jump in card lists are available.

I'd say wait until july 7th if ppl want to do jump in.
They're gonna rotate out the packets for sets that are leaving standard in september.
