The title says “Phantom Of The Opera at the Pantages Theater.” But this is the Lyceum Theatre in London. The film was recorded in 1998 for a Royal Charity Gala in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II, and hosted by Julie Andrews. It was a benefit for the Royal National Institute of the Blind. It featured performances from many of the musicals that Cameron Mackintosh produced. The film is called “Hey, Mr. Producer.” It’s hard to find these days. It was interesting seeing a Phantom with a beard. But this is because Colm Wilkinson also had to pay homage to Les Misèrables as Jean Valjean in the same performance.
@koollegomovies that Phantom who is fat and has facial hair is Colm Wilkinson, a legend, and was actually the 1st person to ever play the Phantom (he portrayed him at Sydmonton before Phantom even opened at Her Majesty's and the Majestic). he has gone on to play the Phantom plenty of times originated him in Canada and originated the role of Jean Valjean for Les Miserables. I think what he has accomplished speaks for itself.
I just saw the Matinee show for the 22nd. John Cudia is a wonderful Phantom. I loved Carlotta Guidicelli, She does that UHHH croak in IL Muto I was like YAY!!!. I do intend to see it again. Later next month. So I cannot wait!!!. Trista Moldovan is a wonderful Christine. just a little clue thats not John Cudia in this clip(at least I don't think so).
The Phantom in this clip is Colm Wilkinson. I have mixed feelings about him. His singing is very staccato-like sometimes. I saw Trista Moldovan when she was in Portland. I think, when I saw her, she had only been in the role for about five days! She was great. Her acting needed work - completely understandable - but her voice was so pristine and beautiful! The Phantom was Richard Todd Adams and he was fantastic. I wish I could see John Cudia, but I definitely do NOT regret seeing Adams.
dolikedog i I would try Amazon or Ebay. This is a very hard film to find these days. It’s called “Hey Mr. Producer! The Musical World of Cameron Mackintosh.” 1998.
I saw this yesterday and it gave me chills plenty of times.
Love them both singing!!! Leila xx

"Before you say another word Christine!..." wait, I'm mixing him up with 2 roles. Stick to the one you perfected with Colm ;)
@EnvyxBoi If you like this you should watch the Women in Black as well in Fortune theatre because it is really good.
Damn, all of a sudden the Phantom became Valjean
Nothing beats the live version
aww this is the christine who is there only two days of the week. :((
that phantom is nasty though
well she's definitely beter then sarah brightmen, and I love colm, and he's better then the original!
Here's something you may all be aware of: Chili's sucks, and so do their commercials.
but I must admit that the original phantom sang Music of the Night much better then Colm!!
Personally, Lisa Vroman > Sierra Boggess
