@Chase Lassiter Some Bible translations use the word “hell” for the Hebrew word “Sheol” and the matching Greek word “Hades,” both of which refer to the common grave of mankind. (Psalm 16:10; Acts 2:27) Many people believe in a fiery hell. However, the Bible teaches otherwise.
Those in hell are unconscious and so cannot feel pain. “There is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol.”-Ecclesiastes 9:10.
Good people go to hell. The faithful men Jacob and Job expected to go there.-Genesis 37:35; Job 14:13.
Death, not torment in a fiery hell, is the penalty for sin. “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.”-Romans 6:7.
Eternal torment would violate God’s justice. (Deuteronomy 32:4) When the first man, Adam, sinned, God told him that his punishment would simply be to pass out of existence: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19) God would have been lying if he were actually sending Adam to a fiery hell.
God does not even contemplate eternal torment. The idea that he would punish people in hellfire is contrary to the Bible’s teaching that “God is love.”-1 John 4:8; Jeremiah 7:31.

Ezekiel 18:20 "The soul that sinneth, it shall die..."
Mathew 10:28 " And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The soul dies in hell.
Hell is not eternal, Sodom and Gomorrah according to Jude 1:7, suffered "the vengeance of eternal fire." Sodom and Gomorrah is not burning to this day, so how could it be eternal fire? Read this: www.remnantofgod.org/Hellfire.htm

+Paul H The bible says hell is real.
      Answer--
True that the bible does have the word hell in it.
However, any time you see the word hell in the bible it is referring to one of 2 things.
      1. A judgment on planet earth.
      2. The lake of fire judgment in Rev. 20/15.
      3. The grave.
      4. It is not referring to an after life place for the spirit.
      What about Matthew 10/28?
Matthew 10/28-- ...destroy both soul and body in hell.
      Answer--
This verse is speaking of something that God can do but does not do.
If you look at the verse you can see it says both soul and body in hell.
Therefore in context whatever happens to the soul also happens to the body.
Question-- When a wicked person dies does their body disappear out of the
Grave and go to a dungeon called hell? Nope.
So if we keep things in context than logically the same thing would not be happening to the soul also. It says body AND soul.
If its not happening to the body than its not happening to the soul.
Its kind of like when the bible says God is able to raise up children from stones.
      Matt. 3/9
God could to that but he does not do it.
The bible says people will be in hell forever.
      Answer--
The bible has said many judgments will last forever in the past but non of them lasted literally forever.
There for hell will not last literally forever.
Spirits do not go any where after death other than to God, Eccl 12/7.
Hypothetical speaking if a spirit went to a spirit prison after death, it would be impossible for them to remain there forever, because they get resurrected in Rev. 20/13.
They would no longer be in spirit prison at that time.
This proves that just because the bible says people will undergo a judgment forever, it does not mean it is literally forever.
How is their justice if no one goes to spirit prison/hell?
      Answer--
They get judged with the lake of fire judgment after resurrection in Rev. 20/13-Rev. 20/15.
How can sinners go to heaven with all the believers?
      Answer--
It is the bible that teaches the spirit returns to God and that God is in heaven.
      Eccl. 12/7 Psalms 115/3
So how can some one go to heaven to where God is if they are still sinful?
How can sin exist in heaven?
When person dies their canal body of fleshly sinful desires, dies also.
There for they behave differently after death when they return to God in Heaven.
Thus making heaven compatible for any person that dies.
The bible says after people die they are judged. Heb. 9/27
      Answer--
The bible consistently speaks of a judgment day, singular.
The judgment does not happen till after Jesus returns and all are resurrected in Rev. 20/13.
When the bible says (after this the judgment) it means it will happen someday after death, specifically after the resurrection in Rev. 20/13.
The lake of fire will last forever.
      Answer--
The bible says the last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 1 Cor 15/26
The lake of fire is considered a type of death.
If all death is to be destroyed than the lake of fire would need to be destroyed also.
In revelation 22/14 God gives people an invitation to get saved.
These people can not possibly be the people who are already saved.
The only people unsaved at that time are those in the lake of fire judgment.
There for the invitation is for those in the lake of fire judgment.
The bible does not say the invitation will ever expire.
People do not like judgment there for they will all eventually heed the call.
You do not correctly interpret those verses.
      Answer--
There are many different Christian denotations in the world and many of them interpret the bible differently.
When Jesus appears to you and tells you your interpretation is
better than all other Christian denominations including my interpretation, let me know.
Till then we will just agree to disagree on this.
And thus all will be saved.

As a born again Christian, I really struggle with the concept of an eternal Hell. How am I supposed to have a love that’s genuine for a God who will cast me into Hell if I don’t love and accept him? It’s like a parent saying to their child, “You better love me, or I’m going to burn you.” Well, how would the child be able to then have a love for their parent that’s truly genuine?

    • @AlinaTowers
      @AlinaTowers 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

"I love you so much, will you marry me? Please say yes, because if you say no I'm going to torture you FOREVERRRRR! But I really really love you!"

    • @gogmarinov
      @gogmarinov 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Why do you see it as "God gives torture to the wicked" and not as "God gives life to the righteous"? Don't you understand that if someone does not receive God they have no life in them? If one does not receive God than his heart must be unable to harbor the source of life and is a source of death instead. In a sense, one becomes exposed to the fruit of his own heart.
A person goes against the law of gravity, experiences a fall to the ground because of that and become paralyzed for life and the onlooker says "Oooh, gravity(or the one who established it) is so cruel! If we don't obey it just once, we are being tortured!" There is the error - consequence is seen as an outside intervention. Rather, as soon as the law exists, the consequence is already set. Death is not something that God just decides to bring into the picture, it is the breaking of the law of life taking place, a spiritual law that is present and being made known while we live this life!
It is not “You better love me, or I’m going to burn you.”, it is "If you want to live follow me. Everything you need I will provide. You can walk away, but there is no life outside of my will." What is not loving about that?! Even earthly parents implore their children to follow their wise advice... God offers the best advice and total assurance of reaching the goal. I ask again, what is not loving?
Focus on the blessing being given, why do consider the absence of it?

    • @gogmarinov
      @gogmarinov 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have not received revelation on hell, whether it is annihilation or eternal torment, there is currently no such thing as "my version of hell". I also cannot conclude that different sins amount to different finite punishments.
As for going against gravity - it was not about the falling, or the moment of impact, it was about the effect - if you break something and it does not heal back, there is a lasting consequence.
Brother, your comment shows that you did not see any wisdom or truth in what I wrote, but were fast to conclude something I did not say (my hell idea) and also did not understand what my illustration was hinting at all. Please, do not be so quick to seek for flaws, it hinders you from finding more truth.

    • @gogmarinov
      @gogmarinov 6 ปีที่แล้ว

The illustration of the law of gravity was meant to paint a parallel between natural laws and spiritual laws, how awkward it would be to say the same thing about the physical law that is being said about the spiritual. If you want to address what I said, address the intended idea. Or ask what I meant?
Where did I speak about a hell with eternal torment?

    • @gogmarinov
      @gogmarinov 6 ปีที่แล้ว

"It’s like a parent saying to their child, “You better love me, or I’m going to burn you.”"
I see a flaw in the perspective here that causes people to have a very distorted idea of the dynamic taking place. Even if we replace "burn you" with "destroy you", nothing changes in that regard, it still sounds the same and implies the same role to the character of God - tyrant, that puts self-serving demands on people and threats. This is because people do not see that their own true life is directly tied to those "demands", since they did not obtain it by adhering to them in the first place.
And why are you arguing? Could it be because you are "propounding the idea" of no eternal torture in hell?

Here's what the infinitely holy eternal God thinks about eternal punishment:
"I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made." (Isaiah 57:16)
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end." (Lamentations 3:22)
"The Lord will not cast off forever." (Lamentations 3:31)
"He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in mercy." (Micah 7:18)
"O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come. When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions." (Psalm 65:2-3)
"All you have made will give thanks to you, O Lord" (Psalm 145:10a)

We don't know the full love of our Lord yet, so I do not question Him on such things. My heart aches for my loved ones who are so far from Jesus now, and I pray for them all the time. Look, i really REALLY don't have the energy to go full paragraph mode on this one. But I'll say it in short bursts.
ETERNAL TORTURE IN HELL is IN NO WAY justifiable. I've heard a couple preachers try to justify it, but none of them used scripture and none of their arguments made any sense and when challenged it could be easily seen how messed up and dangerous their lines of thoughts were.
I've thought about this, and trust me, eternal torture in hell is IN NO WAY justifiably.
Sure, throw us in hell and torture us for bloody billion years if you want.
      But FOREVER??!
Burning and burning and burning in seas of lava, no food no sleep no water and the psychological horror of hearing your loved ones and billions of other poor souls SCREAMING at the top of their burning lungs while maggots and snakes crawl up your burning corpse as you swim there in lava in total darkness without any love from God whatsoever FOR TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS OF YEARS AND FOREVER AFTER??
how the FU** is that justifiable?
All because what, we committed sins against Him for 100 plus years?
HIS GIVING OUT INFINITE PUNISHMENT FOR FINITE CRIMES!!
And no, just because His God doesn't mean it gives Him the permission to do that.
Just because your the president of Russia, doesn't mean you get to nuke me and my entire family and country just because i talked bad about you and the way you run things... BUT WHAT GOD IS DOING IS EVEN WORSE??
ALLOTA PEOPLE, HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF THEM NEVER EVEN HAD A CHANCE AT LIFE, NEVER EVEN HEARD THE NAME JESUS, NEVER EVEN HAD THE CHANCE OF FOLLOWING GOD, THEY WERE BORN IN HORRIBLE CONDITIONS, and God not only knowing they would never follow Him because He knows what's gonna happen in the future, He also allows this person to be born, to grow up in a antichrist world with 99% chance of this person NEVER having the chance to follow God. Plus our sinful nature most of u don't even want to follow God.
So God places us in a near impossible scenario where there's a 99% chance we would never follow God.
Then, God KNOWING this allows us to be born anf live sinful lives.
FINE punish us then we deserve it.
But then your gonna punish us for finite crimes FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY IN UNIMAGINABLE HORRORS AND AGONY?
      BECAUSE YOUR GOD?
I thought His justice and He punishes people accordingly.
But it seems like He places us in impossible scenarios, expects us to follow Him with very little help from Him, in a world that does everything it can to stop us from finding Him, and them when we inevitably fail to find God and die in sin He tortures us for the rest of all eternity?

Maybe if you learned to read like a normal adult, I wouldn't have to.
      FACT #1
Every single point is a SCRIPTURE! Obviously, I "copied and pasted" each one. Or do you think I would type 29 Scriptures manually!?
      FACT #2
The video is entitled "Is Hell FOREVER". You do see the word "forever" in the question of the title, don't you!?
      FACT #3
This thread's creator questions the eternality of Hell. mradepts post is relevant to the video. My response with Scriptures is relevant to his post. We are ALL in sinc. The only one OUT of sinc … is you. You have nothing to offer at all outside of silly comments that neither add nor subtract from the topic. Just a childish complainer with no substance.
      FACT #4
Therefore, since both the video and the commenter are dealing with the ETERNALITY of Hell, I copied and pasted over 25 SCRIPTURES that show Hell is indeed real and eternal.
… so, I DID show what my "point" is. The problem is YOU.

If everyone who winds up in the lake of fire burns forever, then sin lasts forever, right along with satan, demons and sinners. That would also mean that pain lasts forever as well because anyone burning in fire forever will absolutely feel pain. But the bible clearly says that there will be no more pain. This means that no one (anywhere) would be able to feel pain because pain itself would no longer exist. Therefor, the most logical conclusion is that sinners parish in the lake of fire. To any of you who believe in eternal torture, ask yourself, which one of these two statements is true??? People will experience pain forever in the lake of fire... (OR). Pain will no longer exist just as the bible says. Both of these cannot be true at the same time.

@@guarana6245 You said... ("it is clear from the context that that is being said about saved people").
Although revelation 21:4 talks about comforting people, it doesn't end there. Read revelation 21:4 again. And this time, don’t leave anything out…
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
You seemed to have noticed the comforting part of the verse, but it appears you have overlooked what happens to (death), (sorrow), (crying) and (pain).
Don't miss this... Revelation 21:4 says that (death), (sorrow), (crying) and (pain) all pass away.
Once they are all (passed away), they will no longer affect anyone because none of these things will exist anymore. Period. This is also right in line with Matthew 10:28...
Matthew 10:28 (KJV) And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body (IN HELL).
      Did you catch that???
Matthew 10:28 is clearly talking about the soul and body of the wicked being destroyed, (by God), (IN HELL). Revelation 20:9 also says fire comes down from God out of heaven, and devours the wicked. Revelation 20:14 also calls this the second death. It's called the second death for a reason... After the second death, none of the wicked will exist ever again. Therefore, the wicked won't feel pain because they won't exist. Furthermore, the saved won't feel pain either because pain itself won't exist. See how that works?

    • @guarana6245

@@Slikk22 Well you reference second death, but it is clear that second death is lake of fire, and in other parts of Bible is mentioned that lake of fire will last forever.
Also, death is absence of life. It could just as easily be interpreted as beeing cut of from the Lord, not just anihilation. I don't have my Bible with me right now, but I think that in Matthew Jesus in the same verse says something like "..and these will go away in everlasting punishment, but these in life eternal..." so we cannot talk about heaven lasting forever if hell isn't forever.

@@guarana6245 But the punishment (IS) forever. The wicked will never ever exist again. That's the punishment. And it's eternal. You said... ("but it is clear that second death is lake of fire").
The second death is (NOT) the lake of fire. The wicked experience the second death (IN) the lake of fire. In other words, the lake of fire is the thing that does away with them forever.
      Take a look at this...
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
In Revelation 20:14, death is not cast into (DEATH). It is cast into (THE LAKE OF FIRE).
Revelation 20:14 is clearly telling you that (DEATH) and (THE LAKE OF FIRE) are two different things. I hope you can understand this...
Also, don't ignore Matthew 10:28 because it clearly says that both soul and body are able to be destroyed, (by God), (IN HELL).
When the bible says that both soul and body are able to be destroyed, that's exactly what it means.

ETERNAL TORTURE IN HELL is IN NO WAY justifiable. I've heard a couple preachers try to justify it, but none of them used scripture and none of their arguments made any sense and when challenged it could be easily seen how messed up and dangerous their lines of thoughts were.

If you look at a literal transltion of the original Greek text of the NT, it does NOT teach eternal punishment. The King James is not a fully accurate translation. The Greek word "aion" was translated into English as "eternal" but it actually means "age-lasting" or "age-during".

I think Todd should carefully look at what he is saying. He said God would say "You are finite and therefore your justice can be satisfied." So is he implying an infinite God can not have his justice satisfied? Interestingly that puts a limit on God in my mind. I've heard these arguments over and over and over. I see no basis for this in the Bible at all. I also find it very wanting logically.

Revelation 14:9-11 “. . . and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night . . ."
If it were not for this passage and one other in Revelation, what is now the traditional view of hell may never have developed. The angel promises that beast-worshippers will be tormented with fire and the smoke thereof goes up forever, which seems to suggest that their torment goes on forever. He also says they will have no rest day or night, suggesting that their restlessness will never come to an end. The challenge to conditionalism seems obvious.
But equally obvious should be the fact that the vision given to John consists of highly symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, so it must be interpreted carefully. The imagery of restlessness and smoke rising perpetually from torment may not actually communicate eternal torment, any more than a seven-headed, ten-horned beast (Rev 13:1) ridden by a prostitute with the name of a city on her head (Rev 17:3-6) communicates a future reality like something pictured in a horror movie.
So then what does the imagery in this portion of John’s vision communicate? The harlot Mystery Babylon is seen tormented as well (Rev 18:7,10,15) and smoke from her torment also rises forever (Rev 19:3). But with respect to the city the harlot represents the interpreting angel says, “Babylon the great city [will] be thrown down with violence, and will be found no more” (Rev 18:21), borrowing language from Ezekiel 26:20-21, a prophecy concerning the destruction of the city of Tyre fulfilled long ago: “you will not be inhabited . . . you will be no more; though you will be sought, you will never be found again.”
So this imagery of smoke rising forever from torment, when interpreted in the light of the Old Testament source it is quoting from, communicates permanent destruction that leaves lifeless remains. This should serve as no surprise to students of the Old Testament; the imagery comes straight from Isaiah 34:8-10 which describes the fires which long ago destroyed the city of Edom and have since dissipated: “Night and day it shall not be quenched; its smoke shall go up forever.” Edom is not literally burning to this day, smoke is not still rising from its remains.
The imagery of smoke rising forever communicates the permanency of Edom’s destruction and that of Mystery Babylon. Therefore, the smoke rising from the torment of the beast-worshippers amounts to imagery communicating their permanent destruction as well.

"καὶ ὁ διάβολος ὁ πλανῶν αὐτοὺς ἐβλήθη εἰς τὴν λίμνην τοῦ πυρὸς καὶ θείου, ὅπου καὶ τὸ θηρίον καὶ ὁ ψευδοπροφήτης, καὶ βασανισθήσονται ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων"
      and in English is:
"And the Devil leading them astray was thrown into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet were. And they were tormented day and night to the ages of the ages"

You can't really scare someone into loving and trusting on Christ. God knows our heart. God's word tells us that we are dead in our transgressions/sin without Christ. But we're alive...but we're dead. The life in Christ is eternal and not carnal. He said He is the LIFE. Not life in the blood and heartbeat sense. If God will reward us eternally, couldn't he punish or execute eternal punishment? Let's not pretend to understand Gods righteousness. We dont fully understand His love,as giving up ones son to be slayed for others is beyond us...just as his wrath is beyond us. He is HOLY beyond understanding, and justice is His.

I'm one who has come to believe that he'll is not forever myself. A few reasons why are
    1. John 3:16 ..... "shall not parish" look up that word parish in greek, it means to destroy
    2. No man has eternal life until Jesus gives it to us, therefore the sinner will not live forever in hell, as the Scripture say the sound that sin shall surely die.
    3. The fire that is he'll is eternal, and the punishment is eternal,(death)
    4. Jesus paid the full price for our sins that was death, it was not eternal fire.
    5. The Bible tell us that sinners and the Devil will become ashes upon the earth.
    6. Jesus said fear not those who can only kill the body, but fear God who can destroy the body and soul in hell.
    7. The word forever means period of time in the greek.
I had to get out of the church influence, or the doctrine of church and do my unbiased study of Scriptures, and it has help me understand God is not one who will punish man forever, but he truly is loving. Who and to shed more light on the goodness of God. No one is in hell now, the hell they are in is shoel, that's the grave where everyone goes. We will be rewarded or punished at the resurrections. Now the dead sleeps in the grave until we are all called forward. That's why no one spoke of the afterlife when Jesus brought them back to life, in the grave man knows nothing. . This is heard to believe because of how we are taught the harsh doctrine, but what I say I am sure is Bible truth. I ask you to do a unbiased study for yourself. Research the Greek and Hebrew words.

Come to the Biblical Jesus Christ today for salvation in repentance & faith (2 Corinthians 6:2, "behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation; Acts 16:31, "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved;" Mark 1:15, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel;" 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, "Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures," Revelation 1:8, Jesus is the "Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.", Revelation 1:18, Jesus says "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." Becoming a true Christian is not easy therefore count the cost. Becoming a true Christian is not saying a quick prayer & thinking you're okay. Becoming a true Christian is not getting water baptized as a baby or as an adult (see our video "IS WATER BAPTISM NECESSARY TO ESCAPE HELL & BE SAVED & ARE YOU "BORN AGAIN" (JOHN 3:3-8) BY IT?" at th-cam.com/video/wYJtMV9qrWg/w-d-xo.html. You must be supernaturally "born again" by a sovereign act of God through the power of the Holy Spirit (John 1:12-13, 3:3-8; Titus 3:5-7; John 6:37, 39, 44, 63, 65; Ephesians 3:16-21; Romans 8:1-17; 1 Corinthians 2:10-16; Luke 14:26-35, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it- 29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.34 “Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” Luke 6:46, Jesus said, "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" Becoming a true Christian will change your life forever in this life & the next (2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."). Beg God to save you since you cannot get into heaven by your own righteousness & good works (Ephesians 2:8-10, "8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."). Keep begging God for salvation through Jesus Christ until the day comes that He grants your request (Acts 13:48, "Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed." & 2 Timothy 2:25-26, "24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will."). When you are supernaturally regenerated by the Holy Spirit you will know it & suddenly have the power to repent of your evil ways & for the first time you will actually love God more than your own life knowing that nothing in creation is more important than God alone. You will then spend the rest of eternity loving, serving & praising God for He is worthy. John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." +Stabsnipers Here is some more information about this:
"The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). Paul did not say something like "the wages of sin is eternal life in torment."
Twice in Revelation we see the ultimate fate of the wicked, those whose names are not written in the book of life. They are "cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, which is the second death" (Revelation 21:8 and 20:14,15).
We all understand the first death: Paul wrote "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). So what is the second death? It is another death (for the wicked) after the judgment; it is death from which there is no further hope of life or resurrection. If you're in the second death, you perish, you're dead and gone, you're non-existent.
Remember John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." We either receive eternal life, or we perish; we either live forever, or we're dead forever.
Is there anywhere in the Bible that shows the wicked will cease to exist? Yes! In Ezekiel 28:13-19 we read a description of Satan, and of Satan's fate. Note the final few words: "thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be anymore":
"Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."
Satan's fate: "Never shalt thou be anymore."
ALL the wicked: Satan, Satan's demonic angels and all wicked men suffer the same fate: "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matt 25:41). All the wicked go into "everlasting fire" - the "lake of fire and brimstone: which is the second death" as we read earlier in Revelation 21:8. They are destroyed through the second death: they perish, they don't exist any more.
Well, you might think that Satan and the demons are spirit beings and therefore can't die, right? It makes sense - only mortals can die, after all. But wait just a minute... what about Jesus? He was the Word that was with God "in the beginning" (John 1:1). He was a spirit being. Continuing in John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." A spirit being was made mortal - and then died! Jesus was dead three days and three nights. For Jesus, there was a resurrection to eternal life. Later Jesus said "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death" (Rev. 1:18).
For Satan there will be no resurrection, no hope of life of any kind. Is there any evidence Satan will be made mortal? We just read about Satan (in Ezekiel 28) that God "will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee" and that God will "bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee."
Here is Hebrews 2:14, regarding Jesus: "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil."
God will get rid of all evildoers permanently, through death. God will not keep "skeletons in the closet"; He has a better plan than that. Do you take your trash out to your backyard and beat it with a stick day after day after day, to punish it? Of course not: you just get rid of it. God is neither pathetic nor sadistic. He is a God of both mercy and justice and will simply get rid of the wicked through death.
When all the wicked have been destroyed through death, only those who have received immortal life will be left. They can never die... so death won't happen anymore. Paul wrote about this in 1 Corinthians 15:26: "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." Death will be destroyed after all the wicked have been destroyed through death.
This is what Revelation 20:14 was talking about when it said "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." Death will be destroyed: it won't happen anymore. Hell - the grave - will be destroyed, because all will have been resurrected from the grave; no one will be left in the grave, awaiting a resurrection and judgment.
Think about this: those who believe we have an immortal soul have to presume we all live forever in some form or place... even if it might be in some kind of eternal hell. So they have to interpret all the scriptures about the second DEATH and PERISHING as though they somehow mean living forever... thus the tempting pagan doctrine of the immortal soul has become a stumbling block to their understanding of the truth.
Here's what the pagan philosopher Plato wrote about 400 BC. See if this doesn't sound like what many Christians today have been misled to believe:
"Do we believe that there is such a thing as death?... is this anything but the separation of soul and body? And being dead is the attainment of this separation; when the soul exists in herself, and is parted from the body and the body is parted from the soul... the soul is in the very likeness of the divine, and immortal, and intelligible, and uniform, and indissoluble, and unchangeable; and the body is in the very likeness of the human, and mortal, and unintelligible, and multiform, and dissoluble, and changeable." (Plato, in "Phaedo")

I don’t believe in eternal torment.. there’s a second DEATH for a reason.. not only that, God predestined everyone.. he created those that he loves and those that he hates, why would he create someone to eternally torment them? That’s not very like God is it. If there is eternal torment then there is no death, there is also no torture that doesn’t become bearable at some point .. but either way this shouldn’t divide us Christians at all the idea of hell.

Okay, so I understand that the most popular teachings about hell are that the dead in spirit go there for eternity, meaning that after trillions of years their time in hell is just beginning. And yes, I'm well versed in Hebrew and Greek and I understand that hell or Hades is the place of the Damned that the dead go to whenever they die before being thrown into the lake of fire at the white throne judgment. I have always believed in this type of doctrine, I do believe in obedience to God and casting out demons. But after years of being in the scriptures I started to notice that from the beginning of the Bible to the end of it it seems to tell us something other than what we've been taught our entire lives in the traditional views.
If eternal conscious torment is true for the wicked, then why does the Bible teach the salvation of all? Please observe the following scriptures I've provided below, and please answer honestly how these can be true if people are going to be in the lake of fire in front of the Lamb of God, (the lamb of God is Yeshua), and in front of the Holy Angels forever.
"And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the WORLD. (1 John 4:14 KJV)
"For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of ALL MEN, specially of those that believe." (1 Timothy 4:10 KJV)
"that is, that God was in Christ reconciling THE WORLD to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God" (2 Corinthians 5:19-20 NKJV)
    For this is good and ACCEPTABLE and good in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who WILL HAVE ALL MEN TO BE SAVED, and to come unto the knowledge of THE TRUTH.
    5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for ALL, to be testified in DUE time." (1 Timothy 2:3-6 KJV)

The wages of sin is death, death does not last forever. You had it right when you said this is our hell, because it is. The word death is most peoples hell and of course it is eternal for those that don't come to Jesus.

1 Timothy 4:10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
The total victory of Christ has the answers to universal reconciliation, and it’s biblical, the word Aionon is used for ages past and future, and that’s the word they used for eternal.

As sincere as these men obviously are, they seem to be oblivious of one undeniable fact: The Bible wasn't originally written in English. It was primarily in Hebrew. The Hebrew word which has been translated into English as "eternal," "forever," "time without end," and so on, is "OLAM." This word actually means an amount of time which is hidden or unknown. That means it could be five minutes or five years, or five seconds. But do we reckon time in the next life as we do here? Who knows? If you have doubts about anything you read in the Bible, do some research on the original Hebrew scriptures. You will find that the ancient Eastern way of perceiving reality is different from our modern, westernized way. Words had different nuances back then that we no longer have. I don't know why some Christians are happy with the thought of a never-ending hell unless they are, deep down, actually vindictive people. I find it to be an insult against a God who is the epitome of love incarnate, and a love which shall never die. How does sadism fit into that? Doesn't the Bible tell us that God never wants to lose anyone? And don't you think that God always gets what He wants? Fear is a toxic form of manipulation that provokes our instinct for survival. In survival mode, we only want to fulfill rules. In dread and horror, we can never love others with sincerity.

@@guarana6245 Look, i really REALLY don't have the energy to go full paragraph mode on this one.
But it seems like He places us in impossible scenarios, expects us to follow Him with very little help from Him, in a world that does everything it can to stop us from finding Him, and them when we inevitably fail to find God and die in sin He tortures us for the rest of all eternity?

i could be incorrect but i there are about 14 verses in the NT where jesus talks about hell.HE does not say anything about burnin forever and ever..HE does say people will be "burned up".."destroyed".."perish"..
in 2peter3:10 it says "both the earth &the works that are in the earth will be burned up "
    john3:16 the word "perish"is used..
romans6:23 for the wages of sin is death but the gift of GOD is eternal life.
if you burn FOREVER in hell then you also have ETERNAL LIFE do you not... something is not adding up.. how can the saved and the damned have eternal life????
    luke13:3 you will perish
john3:16 you should not PERISH but have EVERLASTING LIFE!!!!
how can someone be not there and there at the same time????
matt25:46 eternal punishment is SINGULAR NOT PLURAL..
the punishment is eternal but not the punishing..
matt10:28 this is very direct FEAR HIM WHO CAN DESTROY BOTH THE SOUL AND BODY... THAT IS VERY CLEAR..
    matt7:13-14 the word DESTRUCTION..
    ALL THIS FROM THE NT.
the NT must match up with the OT not the other way round...WHY????
b ecause does it not say....GOD NEVER CHANGES... SO what is said in the OT should be the same in the NT.
    NOW FROM THE OT...ALM
:9-20 the wicked will be no more....FOR the wicked will PERISH.
for the enemies of the LORD like the splender of the meadow shall vanish.
MALACHI3:6 for i am the LORD, I CHANGE NOT..........THAT IS GOD SPEAKING..
HE cannot say something different in the NT now can HE????
MALACHI 4:1-3 the wicked will be stubble, shall burn them up ,leave them neither nor root or branch, they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet...
THIS IS GOD SAYING THIS NOT MAN....THESE ARE GODS WORDS
    would this not be ANNIHILATION?????
psalm145:20 all the wicked will destroy.
psalm 21:9 the fire will devour them...
OBADIAH 1:15-16 they shall be as if they never were...
psalm 92:7 though the wicked spring up like grass and all evil doers florish
THEY WILL BE FOREVER DESTROYED..... THAT IS A POWERFULL STATEMENT...
psalm 10:20 but the wicked will perish and the enemines of the LORD shall be as the fat of the lambs, they shall consume into smoke they will consume away.. AGAIN THAT IS PRETTY POWERFULL STATEMENT..
EZEKIEL 28::18-19 THIS IS GOD SPEAKING.......i will bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and i will bring thee the ashes upon the earth in sight of all them that behold thee...
NT... TIES IN WITH THE OT here
2PETER 2:6 SODOM AND GOMORRHA were set as example, they were destroyed and made into ASHES... is that place still burning today???
ALL THIS POINTS TO " COMPLETE ANNIHILATION "
please show me where i am WRONG?????
how can the damned also ETERNAL LIFE, EVEN IF IT IS HELL... IF THEY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE ....... GOD LIED AND EVERYONE HAS ETERNAL LIFE...

There will be judgement, but there will be No "Eternal Scorching Masochistic Torture and Pain". One of the Best Versus in the Bible, Revelation 21:14- And God Shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.

The doctrine of eternal hell and torment is one of the most problematic of ALL biblical issues. there are clearly arguments (and scripture) on BOTH sides of the issue that appear to support both annihilation and eternal torment and/or destruction. My final thoughts on all this is this: *GOD WILL DECIDE who goes to hell and HOW LONG (and for what duration and in what degree) they shall be punished.* ... final and utter destruction *is* an eternal punishment and banishment in and of itself.

Where in the Bible doesn’t say that our souls are immortal...., just because we were created image it does not mean our souls are immortal, I could draw the image of a dog on a piece of paper but that doesn’t make it anywhere close to the dog, we are nothing but dust, the very word mortality implies a death, yet you use the word immortal as in unable to die in accordance with “life” in Hell, since the Bible says sin leads to death, second death, etc.... immortal means not able to die .... everyone says since we were made in gods image that means we will all live forever, yet in the Bible, it says the only way to eternal life is through Jesus, which is the very definition of immortality, I want to see that in Scripture, meaning our souls cannot die because we are created in gods image, the image of something is simply the appearance or likeness of it, we are nothing but dust... The image is simply the likeness of something, I could create a sculpture that looks exactly like you and yet it has nothing to do with your eternal state at all...it is simply made of marble or clay... I for one tend to lean toward the fact that hell is eternal just based off of certain scriptures, but I am tired of the argument being made by people that because we were created in gods image that makes us immortal, and they’re basing their whole argument off of that… There’s no scripture that says that, no scripture that says the soul of a man goes on forever.... and I reiterate, those who say we are a immortal(unable to die) and therefore will “live” in hell forever in hell is a total paradox since that’s the opposite of eternal life... that being said maybe it’s only my wicked heart but I can’t stand the thought of eternal hell and it makes me extremely angry sometimes but I know that probably stems from my own pride and sin, but there are people who have lived far better lives than me that simply because they don’t believe in Jesus( A belief which only the Holy Spirit chooses to show some people ) forever and I can’t live with that fact, the fact that we were thrust into this existence without permission automatically damned from birth, and scriptures self even says that is God who chooses people and not the other way around so some people are passed over.... to be vulnerable and honest ...I have been to psych wards a few times because of the thought of hell and others burning there for me and possibly burning there and by not being on the narrow road and I don’t understand how Christians can just calmly walk downthe road without talking to every single person they come across if they believe hell exists...I wish I were in the position to do so but I have shipwrecked my face and I have no joy and the joy less person can’ I wish I were in the position to do so but I have shipwrecked my face and I have no joy and a joyless person cannot represent Christ....please pray for me

@@jeremysiron9622 Same here...sometimes I want to just say "screw it... I believe God exists, but that's all just wishing he could have mercy on me to live life fully"
Because I can't just imagine God being soo loving, al-loving God and at the same time put people in eternal punishment in hell for earthly sins and mistakes.
The bible says love your neighbor as yourself, so I can't imagine my neighbor or myself burning for eternity.
No matter how someone is wicked to me, I don't wish eternal punishment for them.
At the same time God says we should love him above all things including our lives or neighbors.
So I feel like even if I get to heaven and still have pain of those I love in who maybe in hell burning every single second, whiles I'm enjoying all good in heaven and they having the opposite for eternity.
And I feel, like if I care for them, then it means the love of the Father is not in me, because I should care more about God.
And I end up being frustrated and stressed out as a young man because I don't understand all that's going on.
I feel sad in my heart everyday, knowing this life is short and eternal punishment is real, and that the bible says only few are chosen.
And this is not what will happen, but has already happened from the foundation of the earth, and God already knows who and who will and will not make it to heaven.
So always I pray that if my end is hell, He God should change my destiny.
But at the end I still end up stressed and frustrated, because I don't understand what life is anymore, I will just be glad I'm on the right side.
But to be frank I don't understand all that's going on.
I say to myself unless Jesus reveals himself to me and show me what's really going on, then I could never understand this world.
Because in Him is all understanding.
And how can I understand if I don't understand 😖😖😖😭.

Did he say he would go to hell and burn forever? What does God's Word say the condition if the dead is? Ecclesiastes 9:5,10, what are those who are unconscious aware of? Is the soul immortal? Not according to the Scriptures, Ezekiel 18:4,20. If a person dies does he still have to pay for their sins? Not according to Romans 6:7, 23. Who will you believe? The most important thing to consider when contemplating the idea of eternal torment has to do with the false teaching that man has an immortal soul. Once you realise that the scriptures nowhere teach that man has an immortal soul it will become obvious that he could not be tormented for all eternity. The doctrine of the immortal soul is found in almost all pagan religions and has crept into the Christian church. Once you have the correct understanding that the soul is not immortal you will understand the language used in describing hell. Got will destroy the wicked, not torment them for all eternity. The doctrine of eternal torment is completely Satanic.

Eternal destruction means that you will be forever destroyed. This does not equate with a perpetual punishment place where fire burning and you feel the flame of fire forever, it means the fire will not be quenched until it finished completely destroy the wicked. Eternal torment doctrine came from the pit of hell. Think about this, does GOD punish you perpetually for a crime you committed for a finite amount of time? is it fair on his part? Even earthly Judges passes punishment that is equal to the crime, do you think a just GOD passes a punishment that doesn't fit the crime.

From what I understand, the word 'eternal' can also mean 'an end of an era', and that it speaks of the _effect_ the fire has, as opposed to its actual duration. Once suffered their punishment, the damned will disappear from existence. After all, we were promised, that there'd no longer be evil nor tears. And remember, the Lake of Fire will exist by the time Battle of Armageddon occurs. Where - then - it would remain as God makes _everything_ new?

"Everything" known to US in OUR realm. God says nothing about making His ETERNAL CREATIONS that predate everything we know.
An ETERNLA God would have an ETERNITY OF CREATION.
Its very milky to think God only has "angels" and "humans" … and to think that an ETERNAL GOD has existed for an ETERNITY and has no other creations out there.
Even David wrote that He is the Creator of HOSTS. Hosts are the ETERNAL and UNCOUNTABLE things God has created that we dont' even know about.
Hence .. the HALF has NEVER been told.
How can "half" the story be told on an ETERNAL GOD?
      Exactly.
So, the EVERYTHING that is recreated is clearly, ONLY the realm that WE know of, which is OUR endless heavens and planet. ALL of THIS will be remade. ALL of it. EVERYTHING. God never said He would remake all His creation, as you are somehow imagining.
      Eternal
      Everlasting
      Worm dyeth not
smoke of their TORMENT ascends FOREVER
… all of these things clearly point to something that has NO ENDING.

Yes. This doctrine has made me weep my eyes out countless of times. It's not really a doctrine when we are talking about the eternal fate of the unbelievers and if you are reading the words of Jesus it would seem like that even many Christians will go there. Hell or the lake of fire is real but what is the nature of it. I've been searching intensively this subject over 3 months and during that time I started to believe in the annihilation (that the final destiny of the wicked will be a total destruction in the lake of fire). I really studied the context and the original terms used in Greek and Hebrew, the nature of soul etc. Yesterday I really cried out to the Lord and I only got words "Matthew 25". After reading that fully with humble heart I had to come to the conclusion that I cannot "explain" the traditional view of hell away in my head. I'm such a emphatic person and even the thought of hell being eternal torment makes me feel like something inside of me is dying. Only one person of my family is truly saved at the moment. And only thinking that almost 95% or the people you see during your day are heading to hell makes it almost impossible for me to laugh or even smile.

My own view on the subject is that after we die, we go into a state of unconscious sleep. We remain in that state until our resurrection.
After we are brought back to life in God's Kingdom, those who absolutely refuse to obey God will die a second time. That's the death from which there would be no more resurrection. Their everlasting punishment for completely rejecting God, the Giver of Life, is everlasting destruction, just like the Devil and his angels.
It is called the "Second Death" because it follows physical death.
"Second Death" is mentioned several times in the Book of Revelation.

I don't think people really think through the application or the magnitude of this view, and the idea of eternity. But just like you, I prayed to God for the truth, and I studied the scriptures. Now I hold the annihilation view.

A few comments about the verses quoted.
Matthew 25:41 - That verses speaks of an eternal fire, not an eternal stay in that fire. You can have a fire that keeps on burning without anyone in it.
Rev 14:11 - References the smoke from that fire. Yet again, not eternal torment. Eternal fire with eternal smoke.
2 Thess1 :6-9 - Mentions eternal destruction. Annihilation. Not eternal torment.
Revelations 9:6 - The Bible here tells us torture is something you can escape through death. So death can't really include eternal torture under that paradigm either.

  • @TheBibleSays
    @TheBibleSays 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The "wages of sin is death," as stated in Romans 6:23. Not eternal life in some sort of fiery "hell." Unless you receive the gift of eternal life you will perish in what is called the "second death," after judgment. After the second death, there is no more hope of life or resurrection. You perish. You're destroyed. You don't exist any more. It's the end of you. Here's a few Bible verses about this:
⚫ "For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be" (Psalms 37:10).
⚫ "When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever" (Psalms 92:7).
⚫ "The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity" (Proverbs 10:29).
⚫ "As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation" (Proverbs 10:25).
⚫ "Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds; Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?" (Job 20:4-7).
⚫ "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch . . .
⚫ "And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts." (Malachi 4:1,3)
John 3:16 says the same: we either receive the gift of eternal life, or we perish:
⚫ "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
So where does the fiery "hell" idea come from? “Hell” in the KJV New Testament was used 23 times, in place of three different Greek words. Each of those three has a different meaning . . . and none of those three refers to a place of fiery, perpetual torment. The three Greek words are:
▬ άδης (“hades”), a noun, (Strong’s G86); 10 times: refers to the place of the dead, the grave, similar to the Hebrew "she'ol" in the Old Testament.
▬ γέεννα (“geenna” or “gehenna”), a noun, (Strong’s G1067); 12 times: refers to a valley outside Jerusalem, used as a dump in Jesus' time. Constant fire and maggots permanently destroyed whatever was thrown in.
▬ ταρταρωσας a verb, an inflection or variant of the Greek ταρταρόω; transliterated (“tartaroo”), (Strong’s G5020); used only once: used to describe fallen angels being put into a figurative pit or prison, to be held in restraint.
BTW, You don't have to take my word for this. Look it up with online Bible study tools such as blueletterbible.org.
Translators (especially KJV) made a real mess when they took these three Greek words and translated them all as "hell" . . . they were twisting the meanings of the words to conform to their concept of a place of perpetual, fiery torment. They had inherited that hell concept, by tradition, from the Catholic church. Over time translators have recognized this error and footnoted their versions, noting the original Greek words, or even using the original Greek words in place of "hell." Young's Literal Translation (YLT) leaves the word "hell" out entirely.
Here's an example of Jesus speaking of "hell fire":
⚫ "And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:" (Mark 9:47)
"Hell" in that verse is from that Greek word γεέννῃ or "gehenna," a reference to that dump outside Jerusalem. The trash and garbage was thrown there to be destroyed by the constant fire - "hell fire" - and worms - maggots - in the dump. *Jesus likened the destruction of the wicked to being cast into the dump for permanent, final destruction. They would be figuratively thrown into the dump for destruction.*
The "lake of fire" in Revelation pictures the same, final destruction:
⚫ "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)
Here's another verse where "hell" is from the Greek word γεέννῃ or "gehenna":
⚫ "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)
So, when Jesus said the soul can be destroyed in hell, what did He mean? First, "destroy" is from the Greek word ἀπόλλυμι ("apollymi") which means "to destroy fully" (from _Strong's Defintions_ ). And "hell" in that verse is from the Greek word γέεννα ("geenna" or "gehenna") which was the dump outside Jerusalem, where fire and maggots destroyed all the trash and bodies that were thrown in. *Jesus likened the fate of the unsaved* to being "thrown into the dump," into "hell [gehenna] fire" for destruction.
In Matthew 25:46 Jesus describes the fate of the unsaved:
⚫ "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
When a criminal is executed, the punishment is not "everlasting" in the sense of being ongoing, perpetual punishing. No, the punishment is "everlasting" in the sense that it is permanent, complete and final, standing forever. It will be the same for the unsaved; they will destroyed and that will be the end of them. Their punishment is finished and stands forever; it is not perpetual, ongoing punishing.
The words "permanent" and "final" never appear in the KJV; "everlasting" is often used instead. It's a mistake to assume "everlasting" means an ongoing, perpetual process. It can refer to a permanent, finished and irreversible condition.
The "lake of fire" in Revelation is like the gehenna "dump" fire. Those who are "cast into the lake of fire" are destroyed. They are destroyed through death, specifically the second death, after judgment. They have no further hope of life or resurrection. They will never "be" again:
⚫ "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)
What's the "weeping" and "wailing" and "gnashing of teeth" Jesus spoke of? It's from the mental anguish the wicked will have when they see others receiving eternal life and then realize they, too, could have received eternal life were it not for their own foolish choices.
Maybe you're thinking, "Don't we have immortal souls, that have to "be" or exist somewhere, forever?" No; if we had immortal souls, there would be no need for us to receive the gift of eternal life. "Soul" in the Bible refers to the self, your being, your personhood. That can be ended, destroyed, as Jesus warned in Matthew 10:28 (see above). Over the centuries the pagan concept of an immortal soul, that floats up out of your body when you die, has crept into traditional Christianity. Here's the pagan philosopher Plato, hundreds of years before Christ:
_"Do we believe that there is such a thing as death? And is this anything but the separation of soul and body? And being dead is the attainment of this separation; when the soul exists in herself, and is parted from the body and the body is parted from the soul . . . beyond question the soul is immortal and imperishable, and our souls will truly exist in another world!"_ (Plato, in _Phaedo,_ about 360 BC)
Salvation is not about - and never was about - *_where_* you'll spend eternity. You won't even *_have_* an eternity - of any sort, anywhere - unless you receive the gift of eternal life. We either perish, or we receive the gift of eternal life:
⚫ "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
Those who teach that God will mercilessly (and pointlessly) torment the wicked forever are doing major damage to Christianity. They're doing Satan's work, portraying God as a sadistic monster.

To even question "the Trinity" is like lighting a fuse. Someone's bound to
explode with anger and accusations like "cult" and "heretic" because the Trinity
with a capial "T" has become a poster-boy test of fidelity to organised religion.
In scripture we can we can find plenty of evidence *against* a trinity - if we are
      open minded.
▬ Most New Testament letters begin with greetings such as "Grace be unto
you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ." All
these greetings *_include both God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ._*
But *_none of them includes the holy spirit._* Not one of them mentions or
includes or addresses the holy spirit as a person.
Can we be open-minded enough to consider this as evidence that the apostles -
the writers of these letters - did *not* believe the holy spirit was a third
      person?
▬ John 14:23 shines much-needed light on the topic. Here Jesus explains that
both He and the Father would come and dwell in us. *They - the two - would
      make their "abode" in us:*
⚫ "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words:
and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode
      with him." (John 14:23)
Jesus said He and the Father would dwell in is. Obviously that's two, not three.
⚫ "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we
in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." (1
      Cor 8:6)
Again, it's two: the Father and the Lord Jesus.
[It's interesting to note the similarity between this verse, and others which show
creation of all things was directed (re: "of whom") by the Father . . . and was
executed (re: "by whom") -by or through Jesus. Compare to Eph 3:9, Hebrews
1:1,2 and Col 1:16; only the Father and Jesus are in these verses as well.
"And we by him"??? Creation is *still* in process by or through Jesus. Through
Jesus sons and daughters for the Fathers eternal family are being created, right
now, as they abide in Him.]
The two - the Father and Jesus - function as one. Jesus said:
⚫ "I and my Father are one." (John 10:30) Again, that's two -"I and my
Father" . . . no mention of a third person.
"God is a spirit" (John 4:24) and is holy. When we have the holy spirit in us, we
have God the Father and Jesus dwelling in us -just as Jesus said in John
14:23: " . . . and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."
Now notice Romans 8:9: the "Spirit of God" and the "Spirit of Christ" both
dwell in us (not some sort of third/other person):
⚫ "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God
dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his"
▬ We see God as "us" back in Genesis:
⚫ "And God said, Let *us* make man in our image, after our likeness: and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth." (Gen 1:26)
Who are the "us"? The Father and Jesus, as we saw earlier in 1 Cor 8:6 where
creation was directed by the Father and executed by Jesus. Here are additional
      examples:
⚫ "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the
      fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed
heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;" (Hebrews 1:1,2)
⚫ "And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from
the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by
      Jesus Christ" (Eph 3:9).
▬ Who are the "us"? It is the Father, and the "Word" who was *with* God
from the beginning . . . And *was* God . . . and *was made flesh:* Jesus.
⚫ "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
      was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him [just like the "by him" we saw back in 1 Cor 8:6]
and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:1-3)
⚫ "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his
glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
      (John 1:14)
Here's another example of "us" in Genesis:

know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the

▬ 1 John 5:7-8 has questionable origin. Look up the "Johannine Comma"
("comma" referring to the phrase in 1 John 5:7,8) to get the detail on that. 1
John 5:7-8 is apparently not found in the majority of early Greek texts, but
appears in later Latin texts . . . causing great controversy back in the early
      1500s.
▬ Matthew 28:19 is also of questionable origin:
⚫ "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
Why is it questionable? Because what the apostles actually *_did_* was
      baptize *in Jesus' name only:*
⚫ "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of
      the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)
⚫ "(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the
name of the Lord Jesus.)" (Acts 8:16)
⚫ "And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then
prayed they him to tarry certain days." (Acts 10:48)
⚫ "When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus."
      (Acts 19:5)
⚫ "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death?" (Romans 6:3)

If we have come to a conclusion about the meaning of a verse, we must be sure that conclusion plays well with all other verses. And that means we must *look* at all other verses. As we do so, the holy spirit can bring scipture to mind to help us. We learn nothing unless our minds are open. We'll learn garbage if our minds are open to _anything_ . . . we must be discerning.

The destruction is eternal. Everlasting destruction, not everlasting destructing.
Do the words - eternal, everlasting and forever, (Greek: aion, aionios) always mean without end in the Bible?
No. “Eternal [Greek. aionios] fire,” turned Sodom and Gommorah “into ashes,” as “an ensample to those who after should live ungodly” (Jude 1:7; 2Peter 2:6). As this was an example of what is to happen to the ungodly, the “eternal fire” of Hell will burn itself out. How can this be?
Cruden’s concordance tells us that in the Bible, “The words eternal, everlasting, and forever, are sometimes taken for a long time, and are not always to be understood strictly.”
In Jonah 2:6 “forever” was 3 days & 3 nights.” In Deut 23:3 it was 10 generations. It can mean as long as a man lives (1Sam 1:22-23); Exo 21:6; Ps. 48:14). Matthew 24:3 speaks of “the end of the age (aion).”
In harmony with the Bibles use of the word Greek scholars including Liddel & Scott, Pickering, Donnegan, Schrevelius, Schleusner, Rost, Passow, Hinks and Leutz all tell us that the duration of aion and aionios is not necessarily without end. The meaning depends upon the subjects to which they are applied. As the wicked will not receive everlasting life “aionios” fire, in their case, is of limited duration, like the aionios fire that burned up Sodom and Gommorha.

+Martin Simpson I really didn't want to respond to this but I have a friend who believes the way you do. Jesus says those who are like goats are going to everlasting torment. Check out what those words mean in the greek. I think the Strongs concordance gives a translation that I would say in my English as unending torture. I havn't looked at the exact translation in a few years so I'll let you look it up. I wish you were correct but I severely believe you are wrong. The earth and the heavens as we know it will have an ending but they thay are cast into the lake of fire and their age and the age of those men and demons cast with them(all who are not found in the book) will end. But they do not end because if they did Jesus would have lied when he said at the end they would receive Eternal, unending, never stopping punishment.
I think in my own thoughts that God's Love is eternal and therefore his justice and wrath must be as well.

    • @basementguymusic2148
      @basementguymusic2148 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+Martin Simpson Firstly, the word aionios is never used in the Old Testament as the Old Testament wasn't written in greek. in the Strong 5769 hebrew and Chaldee the word in the Jonah passage means more the vanishing point or a long time that does end.
Everytime everlasting is used in the new testament it is Strongs (166) aionios from 165: perpetual(also used of past time, or past and future time as well): -eternal, for ever, everlasting, world (began). Just because a words origin is from that word does not mean they have the same meaning. Aion(165) does mean an age, Aionios means forever. So anytime in the Old Testament you want to use the greek word aionios to refer to a limited period of time you should use the word aion which can mean simple a really long time. Everlasting is never used in the King James when the word aion is used in the origional. Everlasting is how the interpreted the word Aionios which means forever. So when you see the word everlasting to describe the punishment the sinner will endure that's what it means.
I hope you believe that God knows the end from the beginning so everything that happened in world history was allowed by God or else God is powerless to stop it, right? Hitler, mass murders, rapes and molestation, are the result of mans fall not God impotence. He permits it or else He isn't all powerful. Hell is a place prepared for Satan and his angels, men go their because of the fall not because God longs for it to happen. He's not willing that ANY should perish but all come to repentance. God's place of eternal separation exist because of sin because they loved sin more than God. Therefore he will give them what they have chosen, eternal separation from him which will be a place of unending torture because his mercy and kindness will not be there.
The problem is Satan debated(Romans 1:29 in a list of sins right next to murder and deceiving, by the way) with Eve about God's truth about not eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And she sided with the lie over the truth and then proclaimed the lie to Adam and he choose to believe it to. In that day the were separated from God and no longer communed with Him in the cool of the day. They died because Satan's truth was the one they wanted to follow. We now suffer because of that, not because God is a sadist. Remember that God's punishment leads the son back home to a better place. Hell isn't God's punishment it is man's choice. Fallen man who rapes, and murders, kills and steals of whom Jesus spoke of saying they are of their father the devil. Jesus said because they were not the children of Abraham(who believed and his belief was credited to him for righteousness) because if they were they would believe Him.
My point is man chooses eternal separation over eternal mercy, not God. If hell(i,e. the Lake of Fire which hell and all evil things are cast into) was God's punishment it would lead to reformation and repentance because God is Love and His mercy endures forever. Eternal punishment is the consequence of chosen separation from God.
Aionios means eternal we choose to believe it or try and debate our way out of it. Choose to believe God's Word don't add to or take away from it as John warns us in Revelations. I say proclaim the Truth as The Lord Jesus did that there is a alternative to forever flames but that may require that like Him we talk about the truth of hell a lot. And let him who is foolish be foolish still but let everyone who has ears to hear, hear and rejoice in the truth.

    • @martinsimpson2085
      @martinsimpson2085 8 ปีที่แล้ว

I know aionios is never used in the Old Testament.
Jonah wasn't in the fish without end. The point this proves is that the word "forever" does not always mean without end.
Does aionios always mean without end? I do not think so because we read of "Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them ... suffering the vengeance of eternal [aionios] fire." Jude 1:7.
They aren't burning today so the claim that aionios means without end, is proven incorrect.
The verse continues to say that the cities were turned “into ashes,” as “an ensample to those who after should live ungodly” (Jude 1:7).
In simple terms, Aionios fire burnt them to ashes, and the fire stopped burning them when they are burned up, and this was an example of Hell-fire.
This shows that the Bibles uses the word Aionios, to refer to things that end. This show that what you said above is incorrect.
As mentioned loads of Greek scholars tell us that aionios and aion do not always mean without end, it depends on the nature of the subject.
I agree that we decide our destiny, but if the lost are to suffer in Hell-fire without end then God must be responsible for giving the wicked eternal life in the fire. But the wicked don't have eternal life.
“The King of kings...who only hath immortality.” 1Timothy 6:15
“Shall mortal man be more just than God?” Job 4:17.
We must seek for immortality because we do not naturally have it.
“...by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.” Romans 2:7
"...this mortal must put on immortality." 1Cor 15:52-53.
God stopped Adam & Eve eating from the tree of life after they sinned so they couldn't live forever:
“...Lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.” Genesis 3:22-24.
"...no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." 1John 3:15.
As the wicked don't have, and don't receive eternal life they can't live forever in suffering. Praise God for mercifully putting them out of their misery.

    • @basementguymusic2148
      @basementguymusic2148 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Honestly I think you don't see the very verse your quoting seem to say immortality is something we Must put on. Why wouldwe be told to seek for it like your Romans 2 passage if it isn't obtainible. The phrase eternal life itself speaks to this point, we are now mortal but we must put on inmortallity, makes sense because God made man in His image and for fellowship with Him. If He is the same yesturday, today, and forever(A aionios only He could have because of the past btw, because we didn't always exist and have not put off the cursed dying body yet,but will in the adoption spoke of in Roman 8 and the Cor passage you mentioned earlier) but if He is always the same He will always want fellowship with us. Said fellowship will require unending life though we were created meaning only He is fully eternal and we could never be.
And since He cannot change and the fact that humankind was made to be eternal originally and fell from that, then his justice must also be eternal and so must His intent be. Sadly the rejector of His Love and mercy must receive His wrath, But it is a hell of their own choosing. Separation for the sustainer of all good leads to the seperation of the lake of fire. There their smoke rises upward forever because the burning never stops(aionios not aions) never the word that means a finite period of time but the word the greeks used for forever. When I say forever you don't wonder what I mean even though though the word has origins in other languages and words, do you now what greek word was used in the time the New Testament was written to mean forever, yep aionios. Aion means a long period of time if I try and say Aion upon aion I would translate it to the english ages, If I try and say aionios I would say forever or eternal or everasting. All three of these words in modern english mean the same thing NEVER ENDING. Oddly to me the greek word aionios seems to point at neverending starting from the beginning Strongs(166). This could speak to the eternallity of Gods Word so even though the things that are becoming eternal are not eternal from the past God's proclaimation that they would be is from forever. The Bible say God calls those things that are not as though they be, possibly because of His eternalness and the fact that He exist out of time with the future and the past the same. I go deep here because I think this is the only thing that can explain in my thoughts the existence of God Himself. To have the power to create time and the universe the laws of time and the universe must be beneath God. The big bang can't exist alone because it lacks the power to create itself or to go forward gain the power to create itself then go back in time to the beginning and create itself. God in my humble opinion does or else time and eternity could not exist just like a clock cannot tick until it is made and we would call it finite with a beginning. The clock maker must be greater that the clock to create the priniciples of the clock just like God must be greater than all the laws and powers of this universe to create this universe.
So what's that got to do with us, simply we are made in the image of God but are not God himself(itself if you must). So the word aionios should never fully be applied to us or things about us but does because it is the eternal rules created by the eternal God. I'm not calvinistic in doctrine but God must predestine some because knows all before hand and permits all before hand. His nature is eternal and we lost this and died at the fall but we regain this through His mercy and judgement and will. Or else Satan would have won at the fall. But God is eternal and Jesus is God and calls Himself the resurrection and the life. So if God longs for us to exist we will exist and He preserves us and sustains us or He judges us and condenms us. Either way His judgements are eternal because His nature is eternal.
Here is the conclusion, science has taught us that matter cannot be destroyed, this is considered a law, God knew the choices of each being and thing in the universe and he must apply His rule over it, as we are made in His image we can't be anything but eternal and our choice to follow Him or rebel from his rule(rebellion is a sin such as witchcraft and Satan and the demons sin as well as Adam and Eves, btw) is an eternal choice. You are saved by Gods' grace but through faith(just as Abraham was in the Old Testament before the cross and ressurection). The Bible says that everyman is given the measure of faith but not everyman is saved, why because of their choice and the providence of God. God hardened Pharoahs heart and Satan send strong delusion that they should Believe a lie, but they ultimately choose their choice because of the nature of who they are and a nature of rejection leads to a place of rejection for all time. A place of God's wrath which is eternal as He is eternal and judgement know to Him before all time upon those who would reject and choose to reject and would always reject the Love and mercy of their creator. The punishment of all the lake of fire does not lead to repentance as is would for a son of God. In all eternal punishment they will hate Him who loved and gave Himself for them and if freed from that Hell would eventually turn on Him because of their nature, as Jesus said you go about to kill me because you are of your father the devils and the works of your father you will do, he was a murder and deceiver form the beginning.
All praise be to the Eternal God and all submission be to His laws and declarations who's judgement can never be wrong, who must eternally be right. We MUST therefore love Him and all His ways as God's first Law is to Love the Lord your God with all you heart, soul, and mind as Job said though He slay me yet will I praise Him and in all these things Job sinned not(look it up). Submit yourself therefor to the only God who can save you and to His perfect Law and if He slays us He could not be wrong. Stop saying how could a good God eternally punish the evildoer, man, are you greater than God to make such judgement. Seek His laws and submit to Him because He is right. Many things we didn't do as a child because we knew there would be a punishment if discovered yet our flesh longs for rebellion and we didn't even realize the wrong of many of them. Obeying the Laws that are higher than you is a sign of your value of the Law giver, to whom be all praise, and honor, and glory, worlds without end eternally forever, Amen.

Wow. A big comment but I don't see much that I can or need to comment on.
One thing I cna respond to is this idea that we were made in God's image so we must be naturally immortal. Does this mean that we also omnipotent and omnicient because God is? No. What proves too much proves nothing.
Again, I agree the punishment will be eternal, everlasting, never ending. It will be eternal, everlasting, never ending death, not eternal punishING and immortality for the wicked.
To clarify, Aionios does not always mean without end as I have shown. "Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them ... suffering the vengeance of eternal [aionios] fire." Jude 1:7.

The verse continues to say that the cities were turned “into ashes,” as “an ensample to those who after should live ungodly” (Jude 1:7).

Of course the visions are all fake and illusions because apparently God is dead and the Holy spirit is just a methaphorical fake and does not operate till this day anymore. After the bible was written the holy spirit ceased to act in people and the only thing that really counts is what is written in the scripture, anything else any experiences or miracles are all fake or i guess from the devil? right? So are also all dreams of Jesus fake and the so called miracolous (personal) wonders which for example turned muslims, or atheists to the belief in christ are also fake because not explicitly written like this in the bible. All the martyrs who died and had their own experiences with god are also just they had just illusions because the only experience with god you can have is when you some day live in the heavenly jerusalem. All the people who claim they saw angels probably toke drugs, or they saw demons. Isn't that right? No one else can see angels but the people in the bible, no one else can be chosen by god but the long dead people in the bible. Also we should make sure to keep all the commandments and do good works because that's what makes god happy i guess? i dont know we never know only god knows. He has no relationship with us. Because We arent protagonists from the bible!

Besides the fact that "hell" is an unjustified and inexplicable conflation of "Sheol," "Hades," "Gehenna" and "Tartarus," there are fewer eternal hell passages than most people realize. Here they are: Dan. 12:2; Matt. 12:32, 18:8, 25:41,46; Mark 3:29; 2 Thess. 1:9; Heb. 6:2; 2 Pet. 2:17; Jude 7,13; Rev. 14:11, 19:3, 20:10. In all of these verses, "eternal," "forever" or "forever and ever" are mistranslations of the Greek word _aionios_ or some derivative of it. The Greek adjective _aionios_ is derived from the Greek noun _aion._ An _aion_ is an eon or age, which is a long but *finite* period of time!

I know that there is a lot of speculation and confusion on this. Are the prophecies literal or are they allegorical? We won't know until the end. But what we DO know - and there is no debate about this - is that hell is awful. To be separated from everything good for all of eternity - to never know love, peace, comfort, joy - to be separated from God for all eternity is absolutely terrible. There is no denying that.

If there is no eternal torment and we are just all consumed and that is the end of it, we wouldn't really care because we wouldn't even exist. The Bible is very clear that hell is forever and it will be awful. And let's not forget that hell isn't a place designed for the punishment of man. It is designed for the devil. However, God respects the choice that people make to reject him. That isn't God making someone suffer forever. That is someone choosing that for themselves.

nbj07 you will only go to heaven if you rest, wholly lean on, trust in, believe on Jesus Christ for your salvation. With God's help, if you are Trusting Jesus then you are NOT Trusting yourself, your memories of earth, your "good works" or anything else. It's an absolute Trusting in the Person Jesus Christ. So let's pray your brother doesn't perish in hell because all things are possible with God(not man). But if there would be someone you know who dies without Christ & goes to Hell, you won't know they are suffering because you are an absolute New creature in Christ. Washed in the Blood! Born Again by the power of God through Jesus. Now if it be that you want to remember earth...the knowledge of good and evil, then you are Trusting in that and Not in Christ Jesus Alone.
He that will save his life will lose it but he that will lose his life for my name's sake will find it.

In a sense, I do not believe hell burns forever. And the basis for my belief is Scripture itself. Starting off with 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9 as quoted in this teaching above, the Bible talks about "eternal destruction". Now, we ask ourselves, what does destruction mean? Destruction is the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired. And that is what will happen to the wicked. They will be destroyed forever...with the forever referring to the effect/result of the destruction, and not the process itself.
Secondly, scriptures like John 3:16 makes a clear distinction between those who are saved and those who are not. It says that those who are saved will have eternal life, and those who are unsaved will perish. Now, what is meant by perish? Perish means to die, especially in a violent or sudden way. And people cannot perish/die, and also live eternally at the same time. Scripture says ONLY those who believe shall have eternal life. Now, where does that leave the unbelievers? Can someone have eternal life and still die? If yes, then that life was not eternal to begin with.
And the Bible is clear that each one will receive what is due to them according to their work (both good and evil). So, if someone would burn forever in hell for a sin committed over a period of three years, where is the justice in that?
And when God will usher in the new earth and new heaven, the evil and pain and tears of the old world would have passed away.
Dear believers, there are so many scriptures which clearly state that people will not burn forever in hell, but that the fire will BURN THEM UP. I unfortunately do not have the time now to go into a full-length layout, but will release a teaching on it soon...
Please let us allow scripture to explain itself.

It is not even logical that a loving god would punish someone forever. It's not even logical. That a place exists forever and ever (dependent origination) is not even logical. All of this is simply illogical and downright absurd. Christians clearly don't understand that nothing exists inherently or independently, frozen in time.
Jesus seems to have been an enlightened guru. He would be deeply shocked and saddened by today's Christians. Today's Christians lust for money, pride, political power, sexual defilements, etc. How tragic!

What is very interesting is that the word "hell" wasn't mentioned anywhere in the original Hebrew version of the Bible, the Old Testament. Moreover, the word "hell" is very hard to find in the New Testament.
Some modern bibles have replaced the words "Sheol", "Tartarus," "Hades", and "Gehenna" with the word "Hell". But the bible, in its original language, only used the former four words to describe a place that people go when they die, and that is the "grave".
Early versions of the New Testament did not mention "hell" at all. It's only when the New Century Version of the NT came out did the word "hell" begin to appear.
Early Christians did not have the concept of Hell and so they never taught it.

Jesus himself said, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,that whosoever believes in Him shall not PERISH, but have ETERNAL LIFE." The GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE. Also, the Bible says, I set before you life and death. Choose life. According to up we all have eternal life it's just a matter of where we spend it. The Bible doesn't seem say that unless you take certain verses out of context. Even death and hades is thrown into hell. Why? Because they will cease to exist.
