I feel in my heart that we do sleep in the Graves until judgment day and people will be consumed, burnt up in hell fire but 1. Jesus parable with the rich guy and Lazarus, says of Hades as being a conscious place of either torment or Abraham's side. 2. When Jesus said to the thief on the cross 'truly I say to you today you will be with me in paradise', 3. When Jesus said he would be in the heart of the earth for 3 days before resurrection and 4 the orthodox church believes Hades is a place of torment and they are the 1rst church who have not changed even till today the teachings of the first disciples as they received it.. Even the original language as they were written.. I'm confused and continually tormented mentally with this..

I have struggled with the concept of "hell", as it was being taught to me, for 35 years! I have had many discussions with God about this subject. Through the years I have rebelled and turned from God a few times, specifically because of what I had been taught about "hell". I could not reconcile the God of Scripture with "eternal conscious torment". For more than a decade now, I have been helping to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give shelter to the homeless and clean water to the thirsty, but I've always stayed away from "evangelism". I had such a hard time presenting a message that I felt had such a foundational issue, the concept of eternal torment. I have now researched (and am still researching) conditional immortality and believe that it is the truth as revealed through Scripture. It is the most consistent and reconcilable message. I now am making plans to begin my journey of evangelism and its become very clear to me what my main hesitations were until now.... before I felt as though I would be preaching a message of "fear" and now I know that I will be preaching a message of "Love" and God is Love!
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
    Blessings to All

I 100% concur with you. I have been a Christian for almost 40 years and am pastoring a small church. I am like you - I evangelized heaps and I struggled with ECT and now I am studying CI. Once I was street preaching about 20 yrs ago and it was probably an SDA person who literally accosted me about hell and the injustice of God burning someone for eternity. I was so impacted that I re-studied 'aionios' meaning, etc etc but I still erred on the side of ECT as I felt there was more weight of scripture in that argument then, however, now I am conceding to CI as the case is looking pretty rock solid to be honest. It's actually a no-brainer when you read all the verses associated. I am older now and way more deft at interpreting scripture and this is one more 'watershed' moment for me in my pursuit of true doctrine. I have been here before and I know when one side of the argument is on real slippery slope and the other is giving me so much more traction. Wow! God bless you too my brother for all you do. I should have gone by my instincts way earlier than this and re-looked at this more properly. So many doctrines are more based on tradition than scripture. I love the word of God and God is so gracious but many doctrines have been perverted that have impugned his grace, mercy, love and justice that it is no wonder many are disillusioned by what many churches erroneously teach. This doctrine impacts so many other truths of scripture. It's going to take a long time to change things but I know it will be worth it.

Doug has presented a revelation with so many Biblical, historical and scientifically researched proof. He is not saying that there is no hell for tormenting sinners. He is simply saying that the JUST God will subject sinners to various degrees and length of torment before they ultimately "PERISH", "consume away" , "die" etc accoding to his word and nature. The only issue that cedibly counter this view is the reference to torment "for ever and ever" as in Rev 9:10 - KJV. But the issue of mistranlation of this term settles it. If we believe that the Greek word that was translated to "ever and ever" actually means an indefinite period then let us accept that we have been misleading the whole world ignorantly and call a spade a spade. Good people will still worship God for the love of God and the benefits of eternal life with the Lord of Lord, not for the fear of eternal torment.

pablo picasso God does not send us to hell for one sin. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But when a person continues in sin then there is a problem. 1 John 3:8 says, "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."
So if the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil, why should we continue to sin?

Many Christians do not know what they read aproducts of tradition and the church and that's a fact the Bible doesn't speak about people being tormented forever yes it does speak about torment but it doesn't say that they will be burned eternally to understand eternal fire go to the Old testament we are given an example of eternal fire Sodom and Gommorrah, you don't take one verse in Revelations and build doctrine from it when it clearly contradicts the rest of the Bible when it comes to the subject of the lost and their punishment see that's the problem with most Christians, Satan has been blindfolded and deceived MANY "thou shalt not surely die" products of tradition don't want to hear the truth that's why they make their way to videos like this and comment, no no you're wrong but yet in spite of that you can show them hundreds of scriptures which tell you that the Lost don't have eternal life and they are burned up consumed will be no more but they're so deceived and blindfolded there's no persuading them , some will come to know the truth and have, but others will remain stubborn and ignorant

Eternal conscious torment in hell is completely unbiblical. Scripture is very clear on this matter. The “traditional” view of hell came late in Christianity, based upon Gentile converts incorporating Greek Platonic thoughts about the immortality of the soul, which is completely foreign and thoroughly refuted throughout Scripture. The word “hell” as traditionally defined appears nowhere in Scripture. Of the four words translated as “hell,” two refer only to the grave, another is an actual place Jesus used when speaking to Jews in Jerusalem who knew it, and the only other is never used related to the fate of the unsaved. Neither Paul nor any other epistle author ever once warns nor mentions of hell to anyone at any time. In Acts, no one is ever warned that rejecting the Gospel would lead to eternal conscious torment. It is never mentioned once to anyone at any time, which is inexplicable is the “traditional” view is accurate. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23). What does John 3:16 state that the option are? Everlasting life, or perish. How perish can be defined as to not perish, but maintain an everlasting but tormented existence. Jesus paid the price for sin by dying, and in rising again became the first fruits of the promised inheritance, eternal life.

Eternal conscious torment is a lie from Satan. The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. Scripture is clear that the lost will be completely and ultimately destroyed. Eternal Hell is a Roman Catholic invention because they incorporated the pagan immortality of the soul doctrine and so needed a place to put immortal souls. But Scripture is clear that God alone has immortality and that it is a gift for those in Christ, not something which we already possess. Fear Him who can destroy both body and soul in Hell. When Adam and Eve sinned, what was the consequence of their sin? Eternal Hell? No, they literally died instead of living forever with God. The tree of life was guarded specifically so that they would NOT become immortal. Neither Paul nor any other apostles ever once mentions nor warns of eternal conscious torment to anyone at any time. In Acts, many have the Gospel shared and yet no one at any time is ever warned of eternal conscious torment. John 3:16 clearly shows the choices are everlastingly life in Christ, or death in sin, not everlasting life in Heaven or Hell. Over 100 Scriptures speak of the final destruction of the wicked and unrepentant-shall be no more forever; as if they never were; be as ash, as stubble, vanish, perish, be consumed; be as wax before the flame; consume away; be destroyed; suffer the punishment of everlasting *destruction* The road is narrow and the way hard which leads to life, and few find it; the road is wide and the way easy, and many are who find it, the path which leads to destruction, etc. It was Satan who told the original lie: “You shall surely not die…” and here you are believing Satan over God who said “The soul that sins shall die.” The idea of eternal conscious torment in Hell was foreign to Jews of the 1st century, and it was completely foreign to Jesus. The word “Hell,” as traditionally defined appears not even once in all of Scripture. The words translated as “Hell” “Sheol,” and “Hades” are merely the grave. “Gehenna” is used by Jesus only when speaking to Jews in or around Jerusalem because it was an actual place where garbage was burned, including dead bodies. “Where their worm does not die and their fire is not quenched…” is in quotes because Jesus is quoting Isaiah, a picture of total destruction, not conscious torment. The only other word translated as “Hell” is “Tartarus,” which os only used twice and never in reference to the judgement. You can choose to believe the traditions of men and the original lie of the serpent, but I’ll choose to believe what the Scriptures teach clearly.

Excellent study. I needed the confirmation that God is not a sadist, but my understanding of the scriptures quoted, were taking over and added to my confusion. Yet, an overwhelming belief that God is Love prevented me to belief those scriptures. Consequently I was tortured between accusing God or disbelieving His word. Now I am relieved and found peace within myself. The moment I heard that the parable of Lazarus will be addressed in another sermon, I searched it on TH-cam and found many which I will no doubt watch, as this parable was the only obstacle which could have dismissed these wonderful and so enlightening explanations. But I am sure that a good answer and study of the parable will help me to once for all close this fear of hell and the trauma I went through thinking about the suffering of even the wicked. I panicked as I imagined them pleading, but God would not hear, would actually enjoy almost his revenge on them forever and forever. THANK YOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL VIDEO.

the Lake of Fire is an ETERNAL punishment (Matthew 25:41,46, Rev 14:9-11
#166 = everlasting, eternal, never ending, perpetual....) because it is for people that have rejected the Gift of ETERNAL GOD. so think about this:
"Jesus" was once part of Elohim (Creators, plural, Gen 1:26, Col 1:15-17).
"Jesus" made the ultimate "Agape Love" sacrifice and EMPTIED himself of his eternal, almighty, glorious GODhood and was made/created a Man (Phil 2:6-7), so that he could be the Kinsman Redeemer for Mankind by being perfectly obedient as a Man (Romans 5:15-21). Jesus was zero % GOD at his birth.
so what should be the punishment of someone that has rejected this Gift of GOD giving up his ETERNAL Godhood so that we could be spiritually RE-connected back to GOD who is Spirit? thats right, ETERNAL punishment.

I'm not a SDA but I agree with the position put forth in this video. I used to believe in ECT (eternal conscious torment) but it's simply not what the scriptures teach. Humans do not inherently have an "immortal soul" that is "gonna spend somewhere forever" like I used to teach and like traditionalists teach. The Bible nowhere teaches you have an "immortal soul". There is not one single verse in the Hebrew, Greek, or the English translations of the the words for soul that says the "soul" is immortal. Look them up for yourself. In the KJV, the words Nephesh and Psuche are translated about 44 different ways, totaling 859 words and that includes the word soul of course. Look them up in a concordance like Strongs and find one single time that it says that the soul is immortal. I challenge you. The only people who get immortality receive it as a gift form God at the resurrection (See 1 Cor. 15) and that is not "just their body". The rest (the unsaved) are destroyed. Look up the all the verses for yourself and get off youtube just spouting traditionalist, scripture-twisting pagan heresies like inherent immortality of humans. The Bible has a way of revealing truth...if you want truth. Be a Berean and study for yourselves from the BIBLE.

Instead of checking the whole bible for the truth. Seventh Day Pastors teach to read the bible for yourselves. That they are only human. If you love God read His word.

My church preaches no such thing. We don't believe death is the end, so your argument falls apart there.
We believe that when Jesus comes the third time to earth with New Jerusalem to make the world anew, the dead would be raised up in the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28; Revelation 20). There, the devil and the wicked will be punished with eternal death, as stated in Romans 6:23. This whole explanation concerning to "exist" in eternal punishment is erroneous and against what the Bible plainly teaches.

No more sorrow..anywhere!. God loves sinners.... 'all have sinned' what a wonderful God we serve.. what a wonderful Creator. What a wonderful Savior. We will all rest assure our loved ones are not suffering...... this indeed Biblical. To believe all are eventually in Heaven is not. There is a judgement.

    good teaching on Conditional Immortality.
people, you gotta keep in mind that in order for one to be eternally tormented for all eternity, you have to have one of three things happen:
1.) the soul of every human is naturally or inherently immortal (which contradicts 1 Timothy 6:13-16, Romans 2:7, Ephesians 2:8)
2.) the wicked receive the the gift of eternal life (which contradicts Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8, 1 John 5:12, John 3:16)
3.) the lake of fire both burns and heals the wicked (which no scripture of any kind in the entire Bible can be found to support anything like this)
the wicked do not receive the gift of God, which is eternal life... the only way one receives immortality is through Jesus Christ. if you dont have the Son, you dont have life (1 John 5:12).
    Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
it says the wages of sin is death... it never says, and nowhere in all of scripture does it ever say the wages of sin is eternal life in the lake of fire.
it doesnt get any more simpler than that.

I hope you realise a proper and literal translation of the bible does not have everlasting or eternal punishment.
But by your comment you don't.
The bible both in the old and new testament deals with age/eon lasting punishment and to the Greek and Hebrew people at the time was a period of time.
It could be long or short.
This doesn't mean their is no eternal life according to the bible but that comes after Eonian life and Eonian chastisment.
To know what I'm talking about get the concordant literal translation new testament.
According to it God is also a part of the eons as well and the eons does not limit God.
Fyi I use to study in this stuff .
While it's true I no longer believe in God i know what I'm talking about.

What anyone thinks about the doctrine of Hell is completely irrelevant- opinion is not a factor. The Bible is the final authority, the word of God, and it describes Hell very clearly. Hell is a real place of fire and brimstone, it is an everlasting place of weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth, smoke, darkness and torment. Jesus was not a liar, the book says what it says..

+Allan Tan even the worst human will be received as long as they *truly* have a change of heart and mind and actually do the work. the work is: REPENT! CONFESS! SEEK CHRIST!
if even a murderer does that they will be saved.
say somebody steals your car (your actual motor vehicle, not your body) and it caused you all sorts of problems. if you do not forgive, you're the one who is wrong. the thief would be better than you if that thief did right in their heart and mind (turn from sin, repent, confess, and seek christ).
in the simplest language, you can do any sin to anyone. it's permissible, so long as you do the work. but there's a time limit. there's a time when it's too late to do the work, too late to repent. that person will be condemned and will die in their sin.
when a victim wants justice the only response from god will be: forgive.
it's rather sick when you apply it to the real world and the day to day life.

    So what does everlasting mean?

What does “Everlasting” of Matthew 25 mean?
      NOVEMBER 17, 2009
      tags: everlasting, fire, Hell, punishment
In continuation with my study on Hell, another popular proof text I get often from proponents is Matt 25:41-46:41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”Now most of you will say, AHA! Undeniable proof that there are people burning in hell right now because it’s everlasting. It appears so, but if you dig a little deeper, the true meaning will surface, as the Bible always interprets itself. There are 2 ways to look at everlasting:Everlasting = something continual and on-going, similar phrases include eternal, forever and everEverlasting = the effects are permanent, or ‘ever-lasting’, lasting forever/eternalTo find out, we have to look at the context and other examples in the Bible of something everlasting. We have to look no further than Jude 5-7 (NIV):5Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord[c] delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home-these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.Aha! See the bad guys were punished with eternal fire. Or were they? Lets look closer at Jude 7.In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. The Bible says Sodom and Gomorrah serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. (NKJV says “suffering the vengeance of eternal fire”). Now the question is, if they’re an example, Is Sodom and Gomorrah burning right now? Last time I checked, Sodom & Gomorrah were never rebuilt and there is no fire over there. Then what happened? The Bible says the city was turned to ash.Lets look at 2 Peter 2:6.4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly;(Note: I can expand further on this passage, but that is beyond the intended scope of this article and we can examine this passage later)
The verse confirms what Jude says about the topic, S&G were made examples, it was turned to ash. How does a city get turned to ash, by fire of course:Genesis 19:24-2824 Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.
26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD. 28 Then he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain; and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land which went up like the smoke of a furnace. So we can see, Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by fire and brimstone. But Matthew says it waseverlasting fire. Yes, was Sodom and Gomorrah ever rebuilt? No. Were the effects everlasting? Yes. And there you have it, in this context, everlasting refers to the effects of something, in this case, fire and punishment. So what is the hell the Bible talks about. In short, at the end of days, when God establishes a new Jerusalem here on earth (Rev 20), and the lost (including the devil and fallen angels) will rise against God, God will send down his final, eternal punishment of death, in the form of fire and brimstone, and it will consume the lost forever (2nd death). Why? The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life… (Rom 6:23), not eternal torment. That is just plain cruel.Sorry to burst the bubble of those who relish in the fact that your enemies are suffering in hell right now, the Bible clearly shows that there is no hell of that sort.

I think this pastor has interpreted the Bible so well and delivered the truth contained therein. He has mixed the teaching with reality and the nature of our LOVING GOD. I wish many more people gets this teaching.
The concept of people burning in hell right now, people going to hell or heaven immediately and burning indefinitely for ages without losing senses is taught in over 95% of Christian churches. The whole confusion comes from the interpretation of the scriptures on " Rich man and Lazarus, plus "Jesus promise to the repentant thief" plus other teachings whose source you cannot exactly authenticate.
I wish many more pastors like this one come up and hold programmes like this to air this truth.
The truth of matter is, many people backslide and go back to sinful ways when the nature of God is misrepresented to be sadistic. Reason: they wonder why God would even create them in the first place, put them in a world of temptations, and with all His might and power, allow them to burn forever as the righteous glorify him. Is God's nature to inflict pain, despair and regrets indufinely, in the name of punishing? What can He gain by so doing? Personally, I believe the loving father cannot purpose before hand to do such a thing.
I think it's satan's making for people to believe he is in charge of hell and torturing people day and night, even the first man to die, Cain, but without Satan himself and the torturers getting burnt.
This depicts God as unable to control Satan, and even giving Satan power of human beings, even after becoming enemy with God. This particular belief has seen people go into devil worship: belief that he can overpower God, he is in charge and that he owns and can control the destinies of men.
Pastors, you have a great task ahead of you, to study the Bible and deliver to believers the intended message rather than what your doctrine teaches, or what situation you would like to favour.

I think this entire debate about the false doctrine being taught about hell can be solved by this verse from Mark chapter 9, where Jesus says, "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched". To teach that hell is only where a soul dies is to tell an atheist, "you're kinda right, your soul doesn't last forever, so you have nothing to worry about."

Remember that there cannot be just one verse to prove a doctrine. Hell is translated in that verse as the burning place called Geenna in Greek, which is the place of burning. They throw away all their trash there to be burnt. We must always compare scripture with scripture so we do not have our own interpretation mixed in it.

Thanks to pastor Doug for his clear and concise exposition on the subject of hell.
The rich man and Lazarus was a beautiful parable that became a living lesson study for the Jewish leaders at the time Jesus Christ walked the earth.
Not long after telling the parable Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead.
Did he complain about being brought back to earth from heaven? NO!
Did he thank Jesus from bringing him out of hell? NO!
Why because the Bible is clear.
    KJV Ecclesiastes 9:5 - 6
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
The reason why Lazarus had nothing to say was because he was sleeping in death to be awaken at the second coming of Jesus Christ.
    KJV Psalm 6:5
5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

Don Ward Absolutely right Don. In fact, if you take into account all the resurrections in the Bible, not a single one of them ever had anything to say about a heaven or hell. They were silent. Why? Because as you quoted, they were asleep in death. Just as Jesus said "Lazarus sleeps..." But then he had to make it plain for his disciples because they thought He was talking of natural sleep, so Jesus told them "Lazarus is dead." John 11:11, 14.

You are welcome Don. But that's not to say that there aren't some in heaven, but the general resurrection hasn't taken place yet.
For example we know Enoch and Elijah were taken to heaven without seeing death. Moses was resurrected and taken to heaven. And there were many who were resurrected the same time as Jesus. Matt 27:52, 53.
It is presumed by some that these were a sort of wave offering and were taken up to heaven as a first fruits and some of them became the 24 elders around the throne we read about in Revelation 4. There is a scripture that refers to these elders as men.
But the overall resurrection will not take place till the Second Coming of Christ. Even Martha ,Lazarus' sister knew this as she said, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." John 11:24. Not sure where some people get their theology of a secret resurrection or rapture before the Second Coming.
The judgment won't be complete until the last day. Scripture tells us that time and time again. John 12:48; John 6:39, 40, 44, 54.
How could God rightly decide who goes to heaven and who doesn't if the judgment hasn't taken place yet? First the judgment and then the resurrection. Until then, those who have died beforehand will remain asleep in their graves awaiting the resurrection.
"And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt." Daniel 12:2
"...the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation." John 5:28, 29.
Notice John said "the hour IS coming". That means it hadn't happened at death but it is coming.

I think "eternity" has been misunderstood. "Eternity" does not refer to an endless amount of time, rather, it is outside time - time does not pass in eternity as we perceive it to pass in our limited 4-dimensional spacetime. Even if it were an endless amount of time the suggestion that Cain could suffer a longer eternity than Hitler is absurd. Doug's teaching in this film generally seems to be based on the limited reality which we experience during our lives in this world.

If you would check the Strong's Concordance, you would find that in the Hebrew and Chaldee Dictionary, item 5315, it shows that in this verse of scripture that the soul is tranlated "a breathing creature" the word is nephesh: pronounced neh-fesh. As it is told to us in Genesis 2:7, God breathed into man the BREATH OF LIFE, and man BECAME a living soul. Same word. Same meaning. He became a breathing creature.

"God is a consuming fire" IS relative to sin! Hence the human must repent, believe and receive the gospel of JesusChrist and will thus BE Justified (in spirit)> Sanctified (in walk) > AND ultimately GLORIFIED (in body) before entering the eternal presence of God! GLORIFICATION is what enables the believer to stand in the presence of God. The UNREGENERATE sinner will burn eternally in hell, "Where the worm dieth not" (Mark 9:48).

@@bouquetoffood8918 "I am sorry, but time is winding up and I must have the testimony Jesus, not of man!"
This is such a lazy and pretentious take. Stop acting holier than thou. Give me 1 scripture that says all souls are immortal, ill give you a hint you wont find it eternal life is only granted to true followers of Christ John 3:16 & Romans 6:23. The irony is you are the one thats following the doctrine of man and not Jesus. Eternal HeII fire came from paganism and the Catholic Church used it to scare ppl from turning away the the RCC. Jesus never used the word heII. The word HeII that Jesus used comes from the word "geennan" which was a real place in Israel. Jesus used it as an analogy to show what heII was like nowhere does it say its forever in the original Greek. I urge you to study the original Greek and look at the words used for "forever", "ever", and "eternal" the first 2 never mean literally forever in English. It means for an age and set time. Aka their punishment. Not everyone will be in heII forever. Your preachers have deceived you. I dont think they did it on purpose but they dont understand the original Greek and dont care to study it. How come it took hundreds of years after Christ and almost 1 thousand for eternal heII to be the main doctrine? Ask yourself that. The KJV was written in 1600s btw and they were already indoctrinated with the forever heII idea. In Matthew 10:28 Jesus clearly says the body and soul will be destroyed in heII. That makes it very clear what happens in heII. In regards to the worm will not die go to heIItruth com (cant spell it out bc youtube will delete the comment) then go to their QnA section they go into great detail about their worm does not die. Or you can go to rethinkingheII website and find it there. This issue of heII is very important. Jesus stood for truth and he is TRUTH. Spreading a false doctrine as dangerous as this turns many away from Christ this doctrine has done more harm than good in regards to getting people to come to Christ.

I'm through arguing. People are going to believe what they want to believe. I've been to every church including SDA and found them all to be the same. The SDA was most down to earth and preach 95 percent of the truth but they believe in keeping all the ancient Hebrew laws including dietary laws and say you have to keep the law to keep your salvation. Plus they place too much emphasis on Ellen White their precious prophet. The other churches preach spiritualism and eternal torment which only a sadistic prick would do. Everybody says the Bible is literally true but did you know that it took centuries to decide what would go in the Bible? Christology wasn't decided until the council of Nicea in 325 CE. Pagan Constantine cast the deciding vote. I'm through with all this nonsense. None of us know if we will live again when we die but common sense dictates that no creator would torture his creation. To be honest, it`s not an enormous concern, but i think that the idea that a person can live a good life, work hard, raise a family, think of others etc, but never be religious, can be tortured for all eternity, the God that i know, the God of love and Mercy that set me free, would not do that. The verses in the Bible can be interpreted either way, i don`t think we are supposed to know because we already know that God is just, and our faith in Him is enough to know that what He does is right and that`s why the Bible is not clear.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not PERISH, but have EVERLASTING LIFE." (John 3:16)
"For the wages of sin is DEATH; but the gift of God is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
It's either death or eternal life. These are the only two options. It's not eternal life in heaven or eternal life in hellfire.

***** From all my studying in the Bible, never once have I come across a passage of Scripture that confirms the pagan belief of eternal hell fire.
From what I have studied, the wicked are *destroyed*, not kept to burn forever. To say this is a contradiction in Scripture.
Come to think of it, in all of this arguments, no one has addressed those Scriptures which speak of the wicked being destroyed, not living in a state of consciousness.
Eternal punishment means that the punishment is eternal: total death, where there cannot be resurrection.
In Genesis 19, we are given a preview on the final fate of the wicked. Jude 7 says that they suffered the vengeance of eternal fire. But those fires are not burning now. Also, Jeremiah 17:21 also says that Jerusalem would be burned with unquenchable fire. But those fire are still not burning today (2 Chronicle 36:19).
So, what does it mean? It meant that the fire was so intense, and trust me, it will be on Judgement Day, that they could never be put out. They will burn everything, without stopping, until everything is incinerated and reduced to ashes.
Hell fire is not burning now. The lake of fire will burn when the New Jerusalem come downs to earth, and God will rain fire and brimestone to consume the wicked (see Revelation 20). They will be burned until they are reduced to ashes (Malachi 4:1). That is the second death, where death and the grave (hades) will be destroyed forever (Revelation 20:8, 14). The prophet Ezekiel prophesied that Satan will be burned and destroyed in the lake of fire, (Ezekiel 28:18, 19).
Only then will God be able to make the earth new, when the old earth has been destroyed and everything in it (Revelation 21:1, 2). God simply cannot do this if the old earth is eternally burning with the immortal souls of the wicked and Satan. Also, death and suffering would still exist if the wicked souls still live and suffer (Revelation 21:4).
God will make an end of sin. This cannot be if the dead burn without end. Only if they are completely destroyed will the universe be cleansed.

    • @elhilo1972
      @elhilo1972 8 ปีที่แล้ว

joeforHistruth What you are doing right now: you are defending your view on the Bible on a text Jesus says that, to you, confirms the everlasting nature of hell fire, and ignoring all the other Scriptures that teaches the wicked will be destroyed forever.
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
      (Isaiah 28:9-11 KJV)
Eternal punishment is not equivalent to eternal punishing, regardless if you want it to be so, or not. When the wicked are destroyed, their punishment is eternal. It is fixed and everlasting; one that cannot be reversed. To use this text in an effort to dismiss all the other ones I have referenced is devilish. Once put into context, the verse makes sense. If not, the doctrinal war rages on.

This is not "a biblical video," as it contradicts the holy Scriptures we came to call the Bible. The notion that "a loving God would not send anyone to hell" calls His word a lie, and attempts to render Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, or the deaths of the martyrs to spread the Gospel, pointless. It's not the flames nor the eternal pain that make hell hell - it's eternal separation from God. Therefore someone in hell, who claimed on earth that there was no God, now finds his or herself where that is now true. And that, my friends, is the worst eternal torment of hell.
But in case you don't believe my preaching, believe the word of God, unless you decide the parts of the Bible with which you disagree were conveniently tampered with by man (suggesting God would let His word to us become mired and flawed), and the parts you like being from the Holy Spirit:
"And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt." -Daniel 12:2
"It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched" -Mark 9:45
"And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." -Revelation 20:15
Read also 2 Peter chapter 2.

    • @esca8652
      @esca8652 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This video brings up many Scriptures. Did you watch the whole thing and with an *open and considerate mind? Also, according to Revelation 20, the torment is not separation from God, but it is the torment of the lake of fire.

    • @JobberBud
      @JobberBud 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

consumedbyfire13 Just because a video quotes Scripture doesn't mean it tells a true story. Satan quoted Scripture when he tempted Jesus. As the Spirit wrote through Peter, describing Paul's epistles, "in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures." -2 Peter 3:16.
But, concerning an "open and considerate mind," when it comes to the precious and holy truth of God's word, I try to keep my mind as narrow as the narrow way preached by Jesus. I don't consider man's empty rhetoric and false philosophies. If I leave my mind open concerning God, then anyone can throw any false doctrine into it.

      Isaiah 28:9
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
      Hebrews 5:12
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
      Hebrews 5:13
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
      1 Corinthians 3:2
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

ok lets look at what your comment says from the top...first..you say ..."The notion that "a loving God would not send anyone to hell".. did you not listen to what he said? He was speaking about God not sending someone to hell TO be burning forever..not that how could a loving God send anyone to hell. 2 totally different ideas. So there for you can not render what he said a lie simply because you took his point incorrectly. Now you speak about in hell and that they will be separated from God...First...anyone who is not saved by Jesus is already eternally separated from God until then. God is just merciful enough to allow us to be reconciled back to him before our death or before he comes back. Hell is hell because it is the punishment officially for sin..like a judge giving his official legal sentence of punishment. Ok ..No on to your scriptures you quoted to show that Hell is a place that those burn forever.. ""And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt." -Daniel 12:2"....first off you notice...those "sleeping in the dust" those are all the dead. they awake at the 2nd coming..and those then get their reward...everlasting life or death.. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" notice its Death NOT ever lasting torment. but rather it speaks to death being eternal.... Now on to your next Text you quoted " "It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched" -Mark 9:45" ..this is speaking first about your attitude to sin..not that you will really be lame in heaven...and "the fire that shall never be quenched" is that it is ever lasting......now "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire" Jude 1:7 also says Sodom and Gomorrah were burnt with eternal fire....as you know they are not still burning today..rather what it means is the effects of this fire is everlasting that Sodom and Gomorrah will never be..as well Jeremiah 17:27 "Jerusalem was to be destroyed with unquenchable fire" and in 2 Chronicles 36:19-21 the Bible says this fire burned the city "to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah" and left it desolate. Yet we know this fire went out, because Jerusalem is not burning today. Even the final fate of Satan is explicitly pronounced in Ezekiel 28:18, where the Bible says that the enemy of souls will be reduced to ashes upon the "earth."Compare that with Psalm 37:10 ("For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be").

I would just say that Paul's advice of not judging another man's servant would be apropos here. True, annihilationism is probably preferable to eternal punishment, but it still misses the point of His-story in the overall narrative arch of the Word. That being: Restoration.

      There are 2 Eternal Destination.
      Life or Death
      1. Eternal LIFE
      2. Eternal DEATH
How (what method) or what process does one goes thru to end up with either Eternal Life or Eternal Death.
For Eternal Life (Good people). Jesus will come and resurrect the dead in Christ.
For Eternal Death (Bad people). Jesus could use any of these methods or a combination: hang, drop a bomb, firing squad, Earthquake, Tsunami, flood (like Noah’s time), hail, hailstone, diseases such as aids, gas, starvation, etc. Any one or a combination of these methods could wipe out (causing death) all bad people. Jesus chooses FIRE as a method.
In the Bible, DEATH is the opposite of LIFE.
But the MAJORITY of people/Christians who are alive today DO NOT believe the bible definition that DEATH is the opposite of LIFE. They believe that DEATH is not really DEATH, but just a DIFFERENT FORM/TYPE of LIFE. This is exactly what the snake told Eve in the Garden of Eden, “Ye (Eve/Adam/humans) shall not surely die” Gen 3:4. Therefore it should not surprise anyone that this is still the most popular definition that humans/Christians believe TODAY, about death.
Most people who believe that Death is not really death but only a variation (different form or type) of life, will finally believe (one or a combination) that all bad/evil people
      1. Have Eternal LIFE in HELL or burn in hell for all eternity. Contradiction Bible verses such as Rom 6:23 “... wages of SIN is DEATH; but the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE ...”
      2. All bad/evil people such as Hitler, will eventually end up in heaven.
      3. There is no such notion as Eternal Death

So who is doing the "remembering" and who is "weeping" over a life of Sin? ...All THOSE (souls) who rejected God in this Life. Keep it simple folks. "And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever". Revelation 14

    • @1lacowboy
      @1lacowboy 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

+Lance Marchetti Ezekiel 28: 17-19 Satan is brought to ashes and "will be no more forever". Got news for you brother - if Satan ain't going to burn in fury and torture forever, certainly someone with 70 lousy years of sin isn't. Your "simplicity" is not in conjunction with the Scriptures whatsoever (no matter how much eternal torture appeals to you for those you presumably don't particularly care for).
Jude speaks about the eternal smoke going burning from Sodom and Gomorrah in Jude 7 speaks of its "suffering the vengeance of eternal fire". Just think (and I do mean "think" here - forget what your Babylonian pastor bellows : If those two cities REALLY were in "eternal fire" then it would be the dad-blamed biggest tourist attraction in the world. So obviously this is an idiom, much like Jonah 2:6 where he proclaims that he was in the belly of the whale "forever". So take a deep breath and relax Lance. Wheeewwwww... When it states in Revelation 20:14 states unequivocally that for those thrown in the lake of fire that "this is the second death". It means it.
God is not the monster here - Satan "the father of lies" is. So kindly quit worshipping him and join the ranks of sane Bible believers who recognize the justice AND mercy of God in His quest to give EVERYONE eternal life, and simply eliminating those who staunchly refuse it, preferring to follow Satan in his quest of murder, mayhem and divine character assassination. If you can't appreciate the myriad of Bible verses that state that the wicked are "destroyed", "brought to nothing", "shall be no more" than I would highly recommend that you pray as you've never prayed before to have the heavenly Father reveal His character of love and justice to you. Representing Him as a torturing sadist is one of the biggest character assaults in the universe. Once again Lance - God does not torture someone who "rejected God in this life" forever. When an ex-lover does that they are locked away. It is UNACCEPTABLE behavior for humans and certainly the heavenly Father does not have double standards, nor is he an insane maniac. But, and now pay attention - Satan most certainly is. Don't buy his idiotic lies anymore Lance. It is publicly embarrassing.

Well Bud, in order for your argument to work, you need to ignore chapters like 2 Peter where he talks about Sodom and Gomorrah being an example of what happens to the wicked. Is that city still burning? No, however the destruction is still there today, because it lasted forever. Irreversible, That's a fact, got nothing to do with my own theology, praise the creator

we never chose to be born...and yet we will be tormented because we didnt do what God wants...sounds very unfair.

Is it fair to reject your loving creator? Reject Truth, ?? Prefer sin ? Jesus died to save you , you have a choice to say no thats true.

If no one is burning yet, but reserved to the last days. How do explain the story of Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man was already in a fire of torment.

The rich man and Lazarus is a parable.
Sounds like you're pretty excited for people to start burning eternally.

The rapture is not a secret. It's in the bible in several places.
Rapturo / Harpazo means to be caught up, seized away, snatched up, etc. The Jesuits, really worship
Isis - Horus - Set / IHS. Denial of a pre-trib rapture is from the Devil. God is not a liar. Why would He tell us we have the blessed hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, and then put His children into the tribulation for punishment? When a child disobeys his/her parent, that parent doesn't punish the brother or sister who didn't disobey. He punishes the child who disobeyed. He takes the child/children away when the other child/ children that are being punished.
At the rapture, the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive and remain will be caughtup together to meet the Lord in the clouds in the air...
    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
At the 2nd coming, Jesus will land on the Mount of Olives. These are 2 separate events.

also, this pastor is implying that to die means to cease to exist. that is not true. death is an eternal state, not a one time event, just as life is an eternal state and not a one time event.

Are you saying that in my 14 years of bible study the holy spirit ("the helper, the bringer of truth who will guide you in all things") made a mistake when he helped me understand what I read in the bible?
    I'm confused.
What is my inaccuracy? I genuinely would like to know what it is.

If no one is in hell yet then why does Revelations 20:13 say on the day of judgement that the sea gives up its dead and death and HELL delivered up its dead which WERE in them and they were judged, every man according to their works. False teaching.

I’ve just finished a thorough treatise on this subject, which covers everything from Church history to the logical arguments, and of course the key Scriptures. It’s about a thirty-minute read, and is available for anyone. If you’re interested, please let me know and I’d be happy to share it. God bless, brothers and sisters!

People have a problem with burning in hell eternally for just a lifetime of sin, but no one has a problem with being in heaven eternally for just a lifetime of being faithful to God

Isn't being consumed bad enough & a sure remedy? God isn't a sadist. I believe He just gets rid of them out of His creation. It's logical & reasonable to believe He simply allows them to be consumed.

  • @berean65

That is why there is a pre-trib rapture. Noah and his family were saved, taken out of the way, from God's wrath. Likewise, Lot was also saved, taken out of the way, from God's wrath upon Sodom and Gomorrah. We who are saved, are not appointed to God's wrath.

Sara Khan Luke 16 was a parable to prove a point. Jesus knew that many Jews were Hellenized so he borrowed from it to prove a point.

Sara is 100% correct. Not just a parable!
I just dont know why so many professing Christians want HELL to be temporary.
IF eternal HELL is only for ages (eons) then so is eternal Heaven only for ages (eons).
      WakeUp!
Too many pop preachers are so invested in FINESSing the masses, that they don't even realize they are preaching heresy!

Jesus used Gehenna as a symbol of everlasting destruction. Mathew 23:33 Mark ; 9:47-48
The word “Gehenna” literally means “ Valley of Hinnom “referring to a valley just outside Jerusalem . In bible times the city residents used this valley as a garbage dump. They kept a fire constantly burning their to destroy refuse; maggots consumed a thing that the fire did not reach.
