Just wanted to show my appreciation here. Through the years many of us have tried to duplicate George's wonderful playing in our own way, but you have picked his style apart and made it a science! And I love it! He had his own feel, and you have got a real handle on what he was doing. Just Love George's playing, so unique!
Possible, but self taught players often naturally develop a staccato style. Teachers usually encourage students to play everything legato, which is a little more difficult.
Very entertaining yet informative video by a young guitar player who captured the essence of the earlier Harrison style/technique....he uncovered what make George's Gretsch era sound all his own, and not just a rip off of Chet Atkins and the Nashville guitar sound back then. Kudos, young fellow! Show us some more stuff if you have it.
Mike your playing is outstanding good man! ..... perhaps better than Beatles themselves did. I think this is the best compliment you can receive for your time dedicated and for making us to enjoy everytime we see your videos.
ahh I remember when I started playing guitar I must have watched this video five hundred times and I managed to learn all the riffs. It was so fun to play on my old ibanez artcore. (I tried to have a guitar that looked just like that duo jet)
oh the nostalgia... I can actually remember like everything you are going to say before you say it. Thats how many times I replayed this video to learn this. I remember the old cover of the song where you did all the little lead parts. That's another one I watched over and over. Your voice seems so much higher now that I look back on this. Tenor voice
I have been recently doing a study Of George's style just for fun and even as a child of the 60's never really listened like I do now. I was pointed to you by a friend but I am guessing I got here to late. What you have shared is spot on about his 3 phases of playing and your examples are very good for getting the Harrison feel.
You do the music a great service 'mj' and have clearly captured (and explained very well) the magic of George Harrison (I always think "try to learn what not to do" {lol}... but I like your "herky jerky" description), who was of course heavily influenced by Carl Perkins, Chet Atkins, and Scotty Moore (who did for the early Elvis records what George did for The Beatles)! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for putting these mjsokes videos up, I only just heard of them. They are really well done and very helpful. I hope he didn't pull them off Utube because of negative comments. That's always going to be a minority part of Utube. John
Ian Macdonald suggests in Revolution in the Head that George wasn't v confident on his first recording. You seem to be implying it was a conscious decision! Nice one. George was a vastly underrated guitarist and your uploads capture and mirror his fabulous skill. Ty
@ROCKSTARCRANE Some of the videos that were deleted didn't feature any audio clips of the original Beatles recordings at all - his Blackbird lesson and the "isolated rhythm guitar" ones, for example.
What happens to this young lad , deleting all his videos ???????? Too many haters attacking him on Beatles ??????????? Oh ! Come on ! Grow Up ! Kiddoes ! It is FUN to share music , why keep on attacking one another who knows music ?????????? Stop quarreling and just keep on sharing music !!!!!!!!!! Music is a healing power for handicaps , therefore give a chance for young kiddoes to showcast their talents in TH-cam .
What a talent ! Mister revival man … thanks for doing this ! This might seem a dumb question .. but how do you download videos to your computer ? I might want to also save some of my all time fave videos and lessons for my anytime reference. ( BTW … doesn't mjsokes look like Mathew Modine !? )
@joansbarkingteapots MJ's no slouch either. It amazes me that George was so underrated. He was a genius when you consider all the stuff MJ is showing us. You never saw George out front really, but imagine how it would sound without him.
Do you use any pedal boxes such as compressor or echo and if so which? Which amp do you use and it is important to get the right one to get that sound?
@jeffs123 I suggest if you dont have a lot of money but want the authentic Beatles sound.. get an AC15... IF you have like $500 to spare. No compressor, no echo. Theres a reverb and tremelo knob on the amp itself. Tone cut knob acts as a compressor. Saves you money and equipment. If you want the real deal, get a Rickenbacker 325 or Gretsch. Or a 12 string Rick. Those things are kick ass
@GoucheGizmo - "Since mjsokes deleted all his videos (on his home computer) , all his precious material just disappeared from the Internet. well i want to do a bass video on my friends hofner because i can't afford to restring on my rickenbacker right now you should do another drum video one day
***** wow... I thought you just vanished. I remember being subscribed to your channel when you were doing the full band covers but then I lost track. It must be odd to see how your old videos getting so many views or being used to sell guitar lessons for other people (as I'm assuming that's not your ad on "How to play like John Lennon".) Anyway, nice to know you are around...your Beatles guitar mystique is obviously still legendary.
I understand withdrawing being the bigger person but he kept announcing that he had something big coming that was like 2 years ago and i kept checking his channel and he never did nothing. I know he lost alot of fans because after a while people move on to somebody else new who is consistent and doesnt leave you hanging you know? Type in david brookings and check out this guy he does every beatles song in order tell me what u think. God Bless!
This was a solo that were ruined or tamed by producer George Martin in his quest to shave off rough edges. They don't have it on TH-cam anymore, but if you can find the bootleg version of The Beatles at the BBC, which contains all 8 hours of their BBC performances, you'll find a outstanding version of I SAW HER STANDING THERE, and an excellent recording, (Why it isn't on the official BBC releases is strange, an inferior version was used instead. also the Pete Best BBC recordings were never released and those recordings are also very good.). On this version of I SAW HER STANDING THERE "one two three four" count in is sung by McCartney in German, and the guitar rhythm is much harder edge and rock n roll, and finally the lead guitar solo is rough wild and hot sizzling and somewhat longer and not to mention completely different than the album version, and the subdued album version is embarrassing by comparison. In fact, that BBC recording is far superior to the album recording of the song.
Well, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was mainly Clapton, but George did do "Something" This guy just follows the crowd that doesn't appreciate George as a guitarist.
Man - the Beatles were genius. You're a very talented individual too for figuring all his out.
Just wanted to show my appreciation here. Through the years many of us have tried to duplicate George's wonderful playing in our own way, but you have picked his style apart and made it a science! Absolutely brilliant. Makes you realise how interesting a player George was
George Harrison was a guitar genius
Msjokes is a youtube legend.... wish he would come back!
Truth.
No kidding. What ever happened to this guy? He's fantastic!
th-cam.com/video/8N9rhJR7Olw/w-d-xo.html
I think maybe the reason George played his early solos in that herky jerky fashion is because he was influenced by rockabilly guitar players.
Carl Perkins in particular was cited by him as a prime influence.
Possible, but self taught players often naturally develop a staccato style. Teachers usually encourage students to play everything legato, which is a little more difficult.

You rock man! I've learned to play my favorite Beatles songs watching your videos. Very clear your explanations! Greetings from El Salvador!
For those who might not know, and I know this seems obvious, but moving up D7 two frets is E7. He should have mentioned that you're in E.

Whatever happened to this guy?
Great! thanks. How do you get the reverb sound? Does a reverb sound come automatically from that model of guitar?
Good job. I really enjoy your videos. What type amp are you using?
@caesarcerf you mean marcato correct? The Beatles wouldnt know much of these terms or what to do, its just the style.
Do you use any pedal boxes such as compressor or echo and if so which? Which amp do you use and it is important to get the right one to get that sound?
Yes pretty cool
thank you so much i hope i can do it~~
yes my friend... I forgive you...
Hello great lesson anyone knowing how to play George's lead solo on One After 909 please write
hey buddy, in the song and i love her, how do you play the middle part where you just hear the guitar solos?
@jeffs123 I suggest if you dont have a lot of money but want the authentic Beatles sound.. get an AC15... IF you have like $500 to spare. No compressor, no echo. I have someone bothering me how do you block them?
Apologies all accepted. MS Jokes has really gotten inside the way George plays.
Nice reverb setting.
might have been a reason for him deleting them all but idk he hasnt said anything about it
